Steve fixed my washing machine today, had the necessary part despite the machine being well over ten years old and the company not making machines anymore.

Was also to give good advice about which brand to buy as and when my machine does properly give up the ghost.

Highly recommended.

Spin Doctor Steve is a credit to his profession. Punctual, honest, competitively priced and no-nonsense. He cracked on with the repair, and when my washing machine proved to be beyond saving, he offered advice on what to replace it with. Highly recommended. Thanks!

Spin Doctor just came round, quickly detected problem and sorted it very efficiently. Really excellent service. With two little kids the clothes were beginning to mount up quickly and I've never been happier to do the washing. Really delighted.

Thanks Steve.

I don't often make a formal recommendation on such forums but similar to the other posts, I really wanted to recommend and also to thank Steve for his fantastic service and speed of both responding to my problem with my washing machine (with twins this is something that cannot not be working at home)and also with resolving to a satisfactory conclusion.

He is also a great personality and was a pleasure to meet. I will certainly be keeping his number close at hand! Thanks again Steve.

Just like to add my recommendation for Steve - he came out really quickly - bang on time, which is perfect for a busy mum like me! Very quick analysis of problem and solution.

Can't thank him enough - really need more reliable people like this!

Have to add to the above posts. Steve is simply wonderful - he came out today to fix our washing machine, on time, really reasonable call out fee and problem fixed in good time. As a Mum with a 5 year old and 5 month old I needed it sorted quickly and without a fuss.

While Steve was working we also chattered about some problems I had with an old dishwasher which had to replaced after a less than honest trades person had charged the earth for repairs which failed the first time - Steve also fixes dishwashers which I did not know at the time!. Steve gave some amazing tips to ensure the new dishwasher functions well and to increase it's life span.

You simply don't find trades people like Steve every day.

Another recommendation for Steve the Spin Doctor 07921 777428. The spring in our Bosch dishwasher door suddenly snapped. Steve asked us to get the spare part (very easy online by typing in the model number), and fixed the door today. He also mended the electric spark on our gas hob by...er...showing us that we'd accidentally switched it off. Very efficient, very reasonable price, came on time, cleared up afterwards - definitely recommend him.

Really pleased with the service received from Steve, The Spin Doctor. He managed to squeeze in a visit to repair my washing machine within an hour of contacting him. Washing machine was repaired with minimum fuss and within half an hour. Even payment was straight forward, I was worrying I would have to go get cash but he had a card machine. Highly recommended!

My washing machine broke, it's the worst possible timing as I'm 9 months pregnant. Eek!

Steve is great in an emergency and came out to look at it immediately on his return from his holiday. As always - on time, lovely to deal with, incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you Steve

Over the years we've come to trust Steve's word absolutely on everything to do with kitchen appliances and their repair. Last week our washing machine broke after 15 years' excellent service - Steve came straight out, diagnosed the problem (worn-out brushes), fixed it, and told us it's likely now to keep going for 15 more.

Expert, excellent service, very highly recommended indeed. And he looks like Knausgaard!

Another recommendation for Steve, I have a 3 month old baby and washing machine broke a few weeks back. Steve fitted me in the first week back from his holiday when he was already super busy. Turned up promptly and had already diagnosed what was wrong by the information I texted him with before he came so was totally prepared. At the same time he did some checks on the heater to make sure that hadn't contributed to a blown fuse a few weeks earlier. Excellent, efficient service and great guy to deal with. Would highly recommend!

    • What "stricter" consequences could there be for shoplifting (or any other crime) than being put into jail, do you think? Though our prisons are of course full enough already, without more people being shoehorned  into them.
    • Returning to the original question, I had my jabs at Tessa Jowell yesterday. I was early and I was  seen on time, and it was a lovely pharmacist who did them, but the admin beforehand (not by her) was a bit iffy. I was given forms to fill in but not told what to do with them afterwards, so I  presumed I had to take them into the consulting room, as the rest was supposed to be filled in by a clinician, but no! After some time had elapsed and I had found a seat (there was no information on where to sit either, so people were sitting in two separate areas, neither of which had many seats) my name was called and  the forms were taken behind the counter. Be aware if you don't have an appointment - even in the relatively short time I was there, three people turned up without appointments having been sent there by a GP (I presume) or having  previously been  asked by the pharmacy to come  back at a different time, and they were all sent away again because the pharmacy didn't have enough flu vaccine until the following day. I have no idea if this was due to a misunderstanding on the people's side, their GP's or the pharmacy's, but none of them were very happy, and one lady said she "couldn't keep coming back" 😭  At least one of them didn't seem to understand what he was being told, possibly due to a language issue. I felt quite sorry for the pharmacist, who was giving jabs all day on top of her usual workload but still managing to stay cheerful! Though she wasn't the one dealing with the unhappy people! I have a sore arm from the Covid jab (I chose to have the jabs in different arms), but no other ill effects so far, touch wood.
    • Line speed and the strength of your Wi-Fi signal are two separate things.  The first is determined by the type of connection (fibre/copper etc) to the outside world and the second is the connection between the device (printer/TV/laptop/tablet etc) and the router. If you are connecting a device to the router using cables (as Alec1 is) then this is will give the best possible connection but isn't practical for many without a degree of upheaval and even then not all devices (tablets for example) will allow a wired connection. So you relying on the quality of the Wi-Fi signal from the router to the device and this will depend on the quality of the router, the type of Wi-Fi connection (the frequency), line of sight etc - many different things.  This is why some people opt for a "mesh" type setup which is supposed to give a solid quality of Wi-Fi signal around the house with little or no blackspots.  It's expensive though and still requires the devices that send and receive the signal (like the plug-ins you have) to be wired to the router.
    • We have had a few cat flaps over the years but none have been electronic. They just have a small clip that you turn to lock or open.  Some come with a magnet and a matching magnet that the cat wears on its collar  This prevents other cats entering.  I've not used these as I don't like the idea of a cat wearing a collar. Cats do like to be out at night and you need to encourage yours to return after a late evening sortie. Calling, rustling treat wrappers worked for ours but he seems to have now got into the habit of coming back about 9pm. without this.
