Tapas Restaurants

I wonder if anyone can recommend a good, reasonably priced Tapas Restaurant in and around East Dulwich or within easy public transport travel. I have noticed the one up Lordship Lane called Barcelona which seems very traditional, and there appear to be a few others, Herne Hill area but they all seem to be rather 'modern'. Traditional would be preferable.

They've opened in Brixton now - on Railton Road (opposite Electric Avenue) - not strictly a restaurant, more a deli where you can eat....

IMHO Barcelona is ok but nothing special and Angel & Gypsies, whilst nice, was, I thought, very expensive - particularly the scallops (or was that scallop singular!). Brindisa is by far the best within reasonable striking distance though I am not sure you can book.

Yes, another nay-sayer for Barcelona, I'm afraid. Food is overpriced and overly-greasy, and the service appalling. We dropped by with our Tastecard one midweek evening, and asked if we could still use it despite not having booked (the place was practically empty). Our first waiter checked and agreed that this was fine, but once the bill came after a fairly disappointing meal, we noticed that the discount hadn't been applied. When we queried it, we were met with a degree of rudeness that included loud and embarrassing shouting, flinging our change across the table and onto the floor, and calling us names in Spanish! Absolutely gobsmacked! Certainly will not be going back.

Brindisa's fab, though - and the staff are super!
