Grove Vale 1955 - 1961 Mrs. McGregor Head Teacher. Mr. Graham Form Teacher.

1961- 1968 Friern Girls - HT Vida Thompson and her chintzy suits, Mrs. Lutz form teacher ( with whom I kept in touch till her death a few years ago) Mr. Bell - Ding Dong - Maths teacher ((I give up none of you are any good -true none of us got entered in for O level Maths) Miss Vine - Grapes of Wrath- English. Miss Rees

Games and Biology, Mrs. Balinas - History/Form Teacher. Winifred Pringle Deputy then H.T.

Tony Cyrus - music - loved to dress in women's clothing at the end of term play put on by teaching staff. I seem to think he also pulled faces behind senior teachers backs to make us laugh.

Remember going out on a trip with class in year 1 or 2 all of us getting drenched- Mrs. Lutz took us to the annexe on the Friern Road site where there was coal fire to dry us all out. She then managed to get some milk and warmed it all up on a gas ring for us to drink.

I went to FHS during those years. I was in Drake House and we lost at everything.

Mr Samaroo and Walsh were good motivators.

Ms Levens threatened to expel me no fewer than 5 times in 5 years - and I was one of the good ones!

RE teachers were hot.

Mr Richardson was a good laugh and made history fun.

Drove past the school recently and didn't recognise it.

I love this thread

All this really useful information, and with a bit more digging I can also find out where you all live, your mothers maiden name, your first pet and then go off on a spending spree with your cloned credit cards or stolen identity....

Can I say (as Mr Prudent), be careful about how much information you reveal about yourselves online, it doesn't take much to collate things together in order to steal your identity and as one of the questions on most credit card applications is "The name of your first school" then you are already starting to give out a lot of useful information...

That said, anyone want a blank credit card and cloneing kit - Going cheap as I nicked it from djFitz before he was banged up in the State Penn for crimes that I would rather not mention here.... B)

I know, and it's not a pretty picture either, a bit of a "Hockney joiner" affair if you ask me....

Went to Heber and FHB

Was in Drake house, for some reason, there was a recurrent joke about the Welsh house master (forgotten his name) shagging peoples mums all the time..

Richardson was a great laugh.

I remember the year above us being mental, they burnt down the convent, caused actual GBH to Medler the maths teacher

and some of them starred in pornos made by one of the music teachers that got arrested for said naughtiness.

Herr Boaks the German teacher inspired a life long love of exploring other cultures.

By the time I was in third year, pretty much half of the kids were drinking and smoking weed, and a fair few were regulars at the bookies in Sydenham.

If we are lucky enough to have kids, I will pay for them to go private!

Village Infants, DHJS and then the hell that was Wilsons Grammar School in Camberwell. This was a school with pretentions to the aristocracy, ie it thought it was a minor public school. Bullying was actively encouraged, corporal punishment was rife and the CCF used live amunition on school grounds. A few well known ex puplis notably Michael Caine and John Galliano.

FRENCH:

1/ "Pappy" Alexander.

MP: "Knight first you fart then you belch GET OUT!"

Call me vulgar, but I laughed like a drain (d'you see what I did there?) at that one.

Did Knight have the gumption to say 'Sorry sir, I didn't know you had to belch first?'
