PokerTime
Si Mangria on Forest Hill Road is a really nice restaurant with great food and service (without being massively overpriced). Nice tables outside too. strae
Crooked Well & Franklins & Palmertson offer variations of bistro / gastropub dishes + excellent grog. All three are great. ToastED is excellent but you may find portions small and the menu can be on the avant garde side. So if either party is looking for a more traditional meal, then you may be disappointed. Equally if you are both adventurous eaters, then ToastED can offer a memorable experience. Artusi has just made the top 10 restaurants in London list at TimeOut but has a short, focussed menu.Great if you feel like what they are serving that night... but can be risky if either of you is fussy. The atmosphere is also very buzzy with closely placed tables - so not ideal for intimate conversations as neighbours will be an elbow's touch away... Jeremy
Sound advice... ToastEd not ideal if you want to leave feeling stuffed, Artusi not great of you're a picky eater. cle
I don't think the Artusi menu is that limited - fair bit of choice and fantastic aperitivo drinks.ToastED is good quality but a bit wanky - plus no normal sides means you generally leave hungry. Baggs
Also worth noting that Artusi are very willing to create more bespoke dishes if you have allergies or intolerances. So if there is something in a dish that you don't like i'm sure they would be very willing to arrange a dish to suit your needs. Bonfire2010
Joanna's (in Crystal Palace - they have a private booth you may be able to book if available), The Crooked Well (if you don't mind a pub - albeit a very nice one), or Artusi. However, as mentioned above, with Artusi you can end up sitting in very close proximity to other diners, although they do have separate smaller tables for couples so might be worth requesting if/when you book. Townleygreen
Franklins ..... The food is good but it is a bit basic inside if you want a special occasion.
