In the Aylesham Centre arcade, there's now a stall selling yummy looking bread and cakes. It's open from Wednesday to Saturday if I recall correctly, and on Saturdays they have gluten-free offerings.

A new organic whole foods shop and cafe has just opened on Peckham Rye, at the end of Nigel Road called Puzzle Organico. Keen to try some of the cake!

I saw that today for the 1st time too ...it seems to be also selling vinyl records as well as organic food.

Seems to be related to the "Dig This" nursery... they already have a garden centre in New Cross, and a fruit/veg box delivery business.

And along Rye Lane the former storage space above the old Woolworths store (now two stores SportsDirect and 99p Shop), it seems the Pure Gym chain has expressed an interest and submitted a planning application to convert the upstairs into one of their gyms. Details below:

That's going to be a big Evans in a pretty out the way location. I can't imagine it being all that viable.

I'm with DaveR, I think Balfes have been a great addition to that parade - hope they can survive.

I'll definitely still use Balfes. On occasion I've had to drop my bike into Evans in town for a quick fix. Now they have a central workshop where all the bikes are sent. You get no personal service at all. They opened a shop next to Condor once and had to close it after a year because Condor have loyal customers (and are a bit special tbh).

Yes I won't use Evans if indeed they do open and will remain loyal to Balfes.

The Traid shop didn't replace the thieving loan shop in Peckham, as I'd originally thought. Any idea what it did replace?

I went past the soon-to-be sushi place on LL yesterday. It's not Tsunami as rumoured. They had a web address up which I've now completely forgotten. Anyone know what it's called (would like to Google it).

Yes, exactly. Tsunami are behind it as they confirmed by email they were opening that shop. For whatever reason, they have decided to brand the store with a different name-- perhaps to avoid confusion with the other ones.

As a cyclist, I'm not a big fan of Evans and would prefer to continue using a local independent for my bike needs.

Nonetheless, a new Evans store in place of the existing eyesore at Crown House has got to be an improvement.

And I do think it would be a viable site for them, there are so many cyclists in the area...!

Hi all - we're the folks behind Hop Burns & Black, which as of next month will be selling craft beer and hot sauce, plus wine and cider and even some records (all the good things in life) next door to the mighty Balfe's Bikes on East Dulwich Rd. We're looking forward to lots of beery good times with our neighbours - Balfe's rock! - and hopefully seeing many of you in store. We're aiming to open our doors by mid-November... :)
