but more seriously..

first thing this morning they were reporting "back to normal service"

looks like subsequently there were a whole bunch of other operational problems which banjaxed the service

But my main point was an answer to "It is almost as if they try and be as unhelpful as possible."

As I use them a lot, I'm often left stranded or late by them as well but find that their twitter feed is pretty reliable and that they usually respond to any queries pretty fast

Doesn't make the service any better or get me to work/home on time - but they do try and be helpful

Yup. Latest update

"CLEARED: Trains are now running normally between London St Pancras International and London Blackfriars #FarringdonTrains"

But given recent events I wouldn't rely on the service is what i should have said last night.

It got worse again,

9.01 from Nunhead was delayed 15 minutes, then phone apps started saying it was cancelled but the poor chap in the office was still being told it was coming. He was finally updated about 5 minutes after it went through, without stopping, with very few people on it.

9.14 was then delayed but luckily it was pretty quiet and everyone got on as the 9.29 was cancelled.

The chap in the office was really doing his best to keep everyone informed, shame Thameslink weren't doing the same for him.

My husband's train was delayed and then cancelled last night. In the end he took the bus home.

I was late picking up the kids on Monday, on Tuesday I decided to go via LB only to have my train cancelled. I gave up - worked from home yesterday and today again. Am lucky that I have that option, but really need to go into the office next week. Seriously thinking about buying a bike as that seems to be the only option at the moment. (not so keen on the traffic though)

stawbs

problem the train cos have during disruptive periods is carriages and drivers get stranded as well. There aren't dozens of spare carriages knocking around at every end of line. So those missing carriages on your train are probably up around Luton somewhere until the train gets there and reattaches

Again, no use to us passengers affected - but it's logistics innit

Yes definitely - GOvia have responded by setting up some 'meet the manager' sessions

St Albans side of the link complaining too.

I missed the 42 by 10 seconds so I can vouch for them leaving!! Then stood in the pi$$ing hail waiting for a 63 (yes I know I am moaning), anyhow bus was rammed but kudos to the driver who took as many of us as possible and Then bus cleared not long after at a tube station (sorry no idea which one but only a few stops after Blackfriars) so if you can hold on for a few stops then you are away..

Thameslink are running a consultation into services from December 2015.

No plans to increase service levels on Sevenoaks (Denmark Hill - Peckham Rye - Nunhead) route despite adding more trains through central London and even a service along the route that doesn't stop.

    • OMFG is it possible for the council to do anything without a bunch of armchair experts moaning about it? The library refurb is great news, as it's lovely but completely shagged out - the toilets don't even work reliably. Other libraries in the area will be open longer house during the closure. July is a rubbish time to begin a refurb because it's just before the entire construction sector goes on summer holiday, and it would mean delaying the work another 8 months.

    • Second time Aria has completed a plumbing job for me and both times he’s been polite. Communicative, kept to time and completed the job. He’s very helpful and tidy as well. First job was ball valve in water tank, not easy at all. He and his team were fantastic. This time kitchen tap cylinders replaced and tap tightened.  Much appreciated, Aria thank you.
    • Thought others may be interested to help a local community centre help others.    My bank account offers roundup and it’s been growing all year. As well as treating myself or putting it towards a train ticket to see my family I’ve made a donation to the Albrighton. They can use donations at any time but I hope my donation will go towards the Christmas hampers.    Can you support them so they can provide Christmas hampers?   https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/albrightoncommunityfridge?utm_id=1&utm_term=M22JKQb6W   A donation of £50 will pay for a hamper to feed a family over this Christmas period. A donation of £30 will pay for a hamper to feed someone living on their own over the Christmas period.
