Jamma
I think they are a welcome addition. Though Denmark Hill village is as proper a place as Ruskin Village on the other side of the train station. Estate agents have a lot to answer for.Bets on how long before the Kings College rugby team roll out of the George Canning, try to ride the wolf and flatten it? 24 hours I'd say. ThinLizzy
Same here Hillside -- I thought it was either my imagination or they had been there for ages and I just hadn't noticed them --good to clear up that they are a new addition to 'the village' FFS! georgina
Thanks Bilvis - could the artist explain why he chose the wolf and sheep for this peice of work? bilvis
It was a subject chosen by the council but it loosely represents the history of the area, its deforestation and farm land. And its something for the kids to enjoy!! mockney piers
I had a closer look (with Brendan as it ahppened) and it's called run. I saw them loom out of the gloom on the way home late on thursday, and it's rather marvellous; couldn't stop smiling. PeckhamRose
I can't wait to drive past them today and hoorah for the council (and I do't often say THAT) for commissioning something like this. The comment above about them representing the deforestation of the area, made my naughtily cynical friend say something that in the future such a commission might be of a sculpture of a bulldozer with "Sainsburys" on the back of it! brum
What a great forum this is - to allow us the opportunity to discuss the piece directly with the sculptor (via his best mate!). I've seen the sculptures too and really like them.
