Taxi from ED to Gatwick

Recommended Posts

Used Mason & Green for the first time in June for a Gatwick Airport drop off and pick up thanks to recommendations on this thread.

Internet booking and subsequent email confirmation was easy. Early morning pick up (330am) driver turned up 15 minutes early. Child seats are provided free of charge and were already fitted.

Cars were clean and modern and drivers were polite and knowledgeable. The driver on the return leg even put some nursery rhymes on for our toddler who was getting grouchy after too long sitting down.

I'll def be using them again.

I'm currently at Heathrow (not Gatwick, but there doesn't seem to be a suitable thread...) with my wife and 20 month old son. We're waiting for Airport Direct. This is worrying as AD were 40 minutes late picking us up on the way here last week, and, what's far worse, they lied to us several times about the driver's location.

We are really disappointed as we have been using this company for many years without incident. In January however they cancelled one of the two cars we ordered, assuming it was a duplicate booking, and without bothering to check! I wonder if AD are under new management. Certainly their previous high standards have slipped badly.

Thanks to those people who have made recommendations on this thread. Needless to say, we shall not be using Airport Direct again!

I hate to say it (as its not a local business) but Uber works very well getting to and from all London airports now. No pre booking but each time I land there's been one at pick up area in under 5 mins. Yesterday's fare from SE22 to Heathrow T5 was just 42 quid...and it was a new hybrid limo!

    • I am  ill in bed with Covid. It's not that I "can't be bothered" to read things. I am feeling crap and don't have the mental  energy at the moment. I am not "brushing stuff aside and pleading ignorance." I am truthfully saying when I don't presently know enough about something to be able to comment. I have always been very careful to try to  differentiate between fact and opinion in both  my posts and other people's, and I am not clear what your point is. And I am certainly not trying to wind anybody up. This is a forum. If you don't want to respond to my posts, that's up to you. I'm not sure why you feel the need to announce it.
    • @NewWave I know how you feel. Like you, I've lived and spent prolonged periods of time in some pretty crazy places and always thought I could handle a bunch of kids. But, no - they got to me and I was shaking like a leaf afterwards. That's what age does to us.  But I did engage with them, so bear that in mind.  My advice would be to never let anything like that stop you doing the things you love. I'm certainly not going to stop using the park, there's no way they get to take away our cherished spaces!  If you see them, just change tack and keep out of their way. My dog won't even go that way again, so that's that problem solved. (If I see them again, I'm going to keep taking photos from a safe distance).
