Mark
I have just received an email from the Council about Goose Green and what changes they intend to make:"Dear Sir/Madam, Following the consultation we carried out last year, we have carefully considered the issues raised by members of the public who took part in the consultation. We would like to propose the enclosed scheme. Scheme details * Removal of the green fence and redeployment of it at another site, * Installation of new fence matching exterior fence. Designation of that area thus contained as a dog exercise area, * Relocation of rubbish bins and dog bins, * Amendments to signage. On the assumption that this proposed scheme meets with public approval we intend to commission these works over the next 3 months. If you have any further comments on the proposed scheme please contact me.Regards,Ursula AllisonParks Community Outreach Officer (Dulwich Area)Environment & LeisureChatelaine House186 Walworth RoadLondonSE17 1JJTel: 020 75250707Fax: 020 75250773Mob: 07903 261073I've attached the PDF to this post.Personally I think they're changes for the better (but then I don't have a dog)[edited once] Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/599-goose-green-post-consultation-proposal/ Share on other sites
Ted Max
Seems the biggest change, apart from the colour of the fence, is that the dog "exercise area" (some free weights, a pool and a couple of treadmills, I assume) has got a lot smaller. At the moment the dogs have the whole bit down by the roundabout plus the diagonal on the Ondine side of the Green. This proposal cuts that to just the section by the roundabout. jim_the_chin
so that'll be about half a million quid from the lottery then, if the dulwich park 'improvements' are anything to go by Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/599-goose-green-post-consultation-proposal/#findComment-13907 Share on other sites
fractionater
Contain all the dog poo in a smaller area - like it! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/599-goose-green-post-consultation-proposal/#findComment-13915 Share on other sites
citizenED
It needs to be made a lot lot clearer which side of the fence is the Dog side. Make sure the signs are in English and any other language spoken in these parts ie Street and Sarf Lunun Chav.citizen Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/599-goose-green-post-consultation-proposal/#findComment-13949 Share on other sites
Michael Palaeologus
Perhaps a pictorial sign of a dog pooing would meet all linguistic needs? Louisa
I think it would be lovely if a small inner city farm was setup on one end of the green, with perhaps a small duck pond or something.. Goose Green is very historic, it's a shame it goes to waste as it is.. Mark
"...it's a shame it goes to waste as it is.."it's not waste ground, it's used by hundreds of people everyday. Historically a green is "A grassy area located usually at the center of a city or town and set aside for common use" which it is. I agree that a duck pond would be nice though. Jeremy
Ducks are lovely creatures... but can be noisy, and would drive the local residents mad! TillieTrotter
Cant be noisier than cars. I think that sounds like a lovely idea Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/599-goose-green-post-consultation-proposal/#findComment-14065 Share on other sites
Keef
Do foxes eat ducks? ;-)I know what Louisa is saying, I know lots of people nip there with the dogs, or walk across the green, but it feels like they could just make more of it...... That said, I have no suggestions as to how :-S Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/599-goose-green-post-consultation-proposal/#findComment-14071 Share on other sites

Chartwell
Friends lived in an apartment complex which looked out over a large pond with ducks - the ducks were so noisy (particularly at 4.00am)they were moved....I know, I know, there's a whole argument of what came first... Keef
I hope you don't actually own a gun mate, you seem very keen to shoot things! ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/599-goose-green-post-consultation-proposal/#findComment-14137 Share on other sites
mockney piers
Despite my hugely pacifist tendencies I have accidenatly discovered that one of the very few things I'm actually good at is shooting things. Double skeet at 15 ft, no probs. Rabbit at 100yards, boom. Not proud though, faintly disturbed, cosmic jokes and all that!! Mark
The Parks Department will be at at the Dulwich Festival Fair on Goose Green, Sunday 13th May and you can discuss the proposals with them.(I have to say I have won some clay pigeon shoots in my time, perhaps an ED shooting team could be formed but this in not the thread to discuss this. No more mentioning of shooting on here please, it's about Goose Green) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/599-goose-green-post-consultation-proposal/#findComment-14169 Share on other sites
