Is there scope to alter one of the EDF drinks session to have a mini Question Time for the first 60 minutes? I don't think we'd get David Dimbleby to chair it but with Sean McG, David Carnell, TLS, ????, Moos, RosieH, PeckhamGateCrasher and Peckham Rose around we'd have a pretty wide range of views on a panel.

Recent threads over BNP, chalking, the EU, the credit crunch have all been interesting but .... difficult to follow as the threaders cross each other and the debating points sometimes become wilder.

PS: There might have to be a "no fisticuffs & leave all weapons at the door" policy.

I can't imagine many people would want to sit around and listen to us windbags argue back and forth.

Mind you, I love the sound of my own voice so am happy to shoot the breeze in real life with you, MamoraMan. Name your time and place. I nominate the Dulwich Constitutional Club for the first bout with a rematch at the Peckham Working Man's Club.

We'd make a great team Quids. I'll be the trustafarian and you can be the working class kid full of ideas and expectation and true to form I'll abandon our class bridging alliance and take a 50k job with the Tories at the end of the conference. I'll probably have you fitted up with some class A so you don't reappear later on when I'm an M.E.P and if you do I'll probably just use you as a campaign tool. Deal?

    • Naaah, it's rubbish - it would be a change of use so would need planning. https://www.planningdirect.co.uk/planningappeals/affordable-planning-applications/change-of-use/commercial-to-takeaway-change-of-use There's not enough footfall for a McDonalds, anyway, and they're quite picky about their sites
    • So let's never do anything that might improve an area, because it will just be dragged down to the level of what's presently there? Is that what you are saying? I don't have the time or the inclination to do the research, but I'm pretty sure that I have read  that when people who had lived in a very run down area  were given  nice surroundings, they appreciated and looked after them.

    • No, it's the AA. https://www.nationalworld.com/arts-and-culture/these-are-the-uks-best-outdoor-pools-and-lidos-new-lido-league-reveals-top-swimming-spots-5218853  "Experts from The AA analysed 164 lidos and outdoor pools for the average monthly Google search volumes, average Google review scores, Instagram tags, entry and parking fees, as well as the average maximum temperature and hours of summer sunlight at each location, to determine the very best swimming spots across the UK."
