Beard, glad to see you're feeling calmer. Perhaps those stern words from SMG have had an impact. But the point remains, the danger of alienation doesn't really apply to the crims - they need an entirely different approach. The real concern is the 99.9% who get stopped time after time even though they aren't knife wielding maniacs. They're the ones who will "turn" - and may not become an active problem in the future - but the sure ain't going to lift a finger to help combat crime or cooperate in any way.

SMG: Mate, where is that Leffe?

So.

Anybody know what the stabbings were all about then?

I see it's all gone V quite.

Yea best brush it under the carpet like it never happened and Keep MUM ....................

NO backbone for the TRUTH!

All heads remain firmly in the sand.

I see what is truly ? sad ? ?.

M123 keep on the subject and don?t be a fist.

Nothing to us discussing what it was about on here.

Am I not being Sherlock by asking all the questions?

But not getting les answers cos nobody cares what the reasons are!

And

If they do know they won?t tell because they are only 10-12 years old uneducated or in fear of their lives.

One fact I did discover was that of the stabbers they pretended to be under 14yrs old but were well over 18?

I'm not from the area and have never really had a reason to be in E.Dulwich except on this day. I was sat in the bishop when I saw a man getting nicked and another being taken away in an ambulance. A few weeks later I web searched *man stabbed lordhip lane* mainly to see if the people involved were OK and found this forum.

A few points:

I was surprised that this was all happening at 5o'clock in the evening.

The police seemed to arrive in good time, well sufficient enough to arrest 3 people. I hope the arrests are followed up with jail terms for the offenders but doubt it.

The attack seemed targetted, (almost 'gang' related) so it wouldn't put me off visiting again if i had too.

It did provide 20 mins of a pub convo afterwards about the state of socienty broken homes and all the rest of it. Pretty much what your doing here. *well it's Peckham innit, what do you expect?* being my fav comment of the convo!

I'd be more put off by the price of a pint in the Bishop.

I am just waiting to see if this post will develop into a covert marketing plug for the Vale. I mean we have had the innocent, conversational preamble, then the pop at the prices in The Bishop. Next.......

Not heard a dicky bird. My daughter doesn't go up Dulwich end much, she just happened to be doing a Somerfield trip that evening and got the goss on the street. Note, he is an acquaintance, not a bosom pal.

Sorry for delay in responding, been off-line for sometime.

Figures showing.

?The number of knife deaths in areas targeted by an anti-knife crime scheme has risen?

Marion Fitzgerald, of the University of Kent. Interviewed on BBC news.

GOD HELP US.

She hasn?t got a clue!

When asked what should be done she couldn?t give a straight answer.

WE all know stop and search has NOT increased!

Regardless of the figures.

I am disgusted that these so called Professors like ?Marion Fitzgerald? ?Clueless individuals who have their heads in books rather than being out on the streets? are taking our money and diverting attention away from the things which need to be done short term,

How many parents of dead kids do we have to listen to before the police actually target these knife-carrying kids?

Professor Marion Fitzgerald doesn?t give a damn so long as she gets to appear on the BBC and is paid by US to write her books.

Clueless self-serving dreamer with no idea what of what would work silly silly Professor.

Finger crossed it?ll go away ?? How many stabbing are not being reported.!

But these figure don?t mean a thing until kids realise carrying knives is against the law it?ll never go away.

Let's see now, does anyone realise tht the human rights brgade are dumbing usdown, The only solution is to go round their houses with a pair of pliers and a can of petrol, This worries me!?!

Is this whatt he BBC licence tax gets spent on?? its obvious that hybrid embryos are running scared, Mark my words elect Jeremy Clarkosn as prime minister, Lets do what the french do and all strike!??

    • There's quite a difference between going for a run around the footpaths and trying to sit quietly for an afternoon in a wide, grassy area and enjoying the peace & nature. The other two grassy areas in the park are used for sports, and both had barriered trackway running through them. The Parkrun had to be cancelled for at least three weeks, iirc. I'm concerned by your continued reference to "the rye" - the event is held in the park, not on the rye (common). There is a big difference, despite the organisers and council artificially amalgamating the whole area when trying to convince everyone that it's only a small area that is closed off. The railings & gates enclosing the park are a big clue...
    • So have you cancelled your contract with InPost / Yodel now? If so, that's probably caused hundreds of parcels to be stuck in limbo, as they've said to me before that they can't redirect them to a different store. I have a parcel that was refused by you twice, the last time on 5/12, and since then there's been no updates, despite me calling them 3 times. They just say it's being investigated, but if they now can't physically deliver to you then that is obviously the issue. So much for shopping for Christmas presents early, looks like I'll never get them now.
    • I thought I noticed the shop being redecorated the other day when I passed. Also the old Romeo Jones had some works going on, I think
    • Leon came to sort out a lighting issue for us last week.  He quickly diagnosed the problem and gave clear, detailed advice about how to avoid in future.  Would highly recommend him.
