Lordship lane shop gossip (lounged)

Recommended Posts

There are many things about Louisa's opinions that I find bizarre, baffling and inconsistent, not to mention irritating, but the strangest is her conflicted attitude to class.

The way she makes every debate about class, the things she chooses to define as "middle class" and her utter contempt for them, set against her claim that she hate the class system and wishes to escape it, all whilst clearly living what most people would define as a middle class lifestyle.

Only my opinion, obviously, but I think to say she has issues would be an understatement.

Harsh IMO.

I think Louisa's view of class is somewhatmixed up, but she is also one of the most successfull "trolls" on here (and she'll admit to doing some of it to get a rise), and never ever fails to get a rise out of people that should know better.

In the past she's overstepped the mark, and Asset for one had good cause to be upset, but that is best left in the past by me.

I have said countless times that I think class is an outdated concept. Louisa reminds me of John Prescott (bless him), in that he refuses to let go of a very traditional working / middle / upper class model, and it just DOES NOT fit in to modern society. I, unlike most on here I think, often nod my head a bit when reading Louisa's posts, as if you take the serious stuff out, she makes some fair points, or at least things worthy of discussion.

I do think that Louisa would be better off making the serious points she wants to make in a more serious manner, otherwise she just comes across as "boy who cried wolf", but there you go. Same thing has been said recently about Dulwichmum, I chose not to get involved with that conversation, but it is an interesting point, that may be worthy of it's own thread.

I thought you might be the person to pick me up on that post Keef, but I don't think I was being that harsh.

My point is that her opinion on class is so inconsistent.

If, like you, she said that the class system was outdated and irrelevant, I'd respsect that and I don't disgree. Or if, like John Prescot, she stuck rigidly to old class definitions and boundaries, I'd disagree, but accept it as her opinion. To me though, it seems like she jumps from one to the other depending on what suits her at the time.

But what really annoys me is her constantly judging and defining people as one class or another based nonsense like their food preferences. I know she's a troll, and I shouldn't rise, but I hate being defined and pigeon-holed, particularly by someone who comes across as so conflicted in her own identity.

You're spot on there anna with regards the mixed messages, but I think (and I could be totally wrong here, but hope I am not, as I am trying to see the good) that the "judging and defining people as one class or another based nonsense like their food preferences" is the whole "joke, and it works. Lots may not find it funny, but I'll bet Louisa sits and cracks up laughing at all the responses, and why not.

If I am wrong and she is just an insane, bitter twisted hag, then I'd be gutted, because for me, she's the funniest "character" on this forum!

I accept that she's trying to get a rise and I'm giving her that, but I'm actually not sure she's a character.

I have never been totally convinced that she's not real, sometimes it's just too personal, or maybe that's just that she's really good at it.

I don't know, or care really, most of the time I'm completely indifferent to her, but today it got to me. Don't know why really, maybe because I'm tired and fed up, but it's no fun and I'm going to go back to scrolling down without reading her posts.

Lou's posts are a masterclass in trolling, and I absolutely take my hat off to her.

She's found a rich source of victims on here, and providing she keeps-up with a certain percentage a perfectly reasonable points in other areas (as she does), she can lay on the rest of it at whim. She's so good that even people who should know better just can't help themselves.

Louisa.. I salute you. You're THE BEST.

Annaj if you choose not to read my posts that is your perogative and I take my hat off to you, but please do not refer to me in the third person, lets face it over the nearly two years you have been a member on this forum have you ever had anything of note to talk about? Didnt think so! Anyway, as you wont be reading this it doesnt matter.

As to everyone else, well you know I love you all dearly (even though I find it rich some of you call me a troll, I think you know who I am talking to here those people) and I do often bang on about class quite a bit, but you dont quite realise just how much the ED changes really have angered me so. But thats life, we must carry on. I do not think anyone on here can honestly say I have ever left a thread without exploring every single avenue and defending my corner with vigour (even though it is often not to your taste). I dont think I am anymore inconsistant than some of you on here though. Lets face it, we're all human!

See Louisa's above.. As I say.. Masterful.

In addition to the post above I have just had a PM from Lousia make it clear that she is not a persona, but that she truely believes the things she posts.

Louisa, I'm sorry you didn't like being discussed on here, but I stand by my opinions. I'm sorry I called you a troll and said you were trying to get a rise, I shall take your word for it that you're not.

Oh for goodness sakes, why cant a girl just have an opinion about something without it causing all this malarchy. Tillie, see now that is raising old issues which were dead and buried isnt it? You have to learn to let go, move on, get over it, it's all in the past.

annaj I thought you didnt want to talk to me! See I get accused of being inconsitant and when others do it no one says a dicky bird!

Louisa.

I don't think the whole thing's a wind-up, not at all.

But that doesn't mean our Lou-Lou doesn't enjoy irking an oh-so-irkable audience by pressing those oh-so-pressable buttons. She blows it half the time though - by saying increasingly preposterous things (see 'no pizza in Italy' above).

Naturally - I love it all.

    • In just two days, we’ll take to the streets to show Donald Trump that he and his politics are not welcome here. On Saturday the global far-right mobilised their biggest protest for decades. We want to show that supporters of Trump and fascism are not the majority – far from it. Here are all the details you need for the day. The march assembles at Portland Place, near the BBC, at 2pm (see assembly blocs below). After speeches here, the march will move off at 3pm. It will then march down Regent St, through Piccadilly Circus, on Whitehall (past Downing St) to our rally at Parliament Square. The rally at Parliament Square will begin around 5pm and finish at 7pm. If you can’t make it to the march, feel free to join the rally after work! (Nearest tube: Westminster). The short, accessible version of the route assembles at the top of Whitehall (SW1A 2DY) at 4.30pm to march to Parliament Square for 5pm. You may also prefer to just join the rally directly at Parliament Square.  Join a bloc – and make friends! Our movement is diverse, and various elements are forming ‘blocs’ on the march to emphasise their visual presence collectively. You can join these blocs or form up behind them:   A) Palestine, near BBC, W1A 1AA B) Climate, W1B 1NS C) Amnesty, around junction with New Cavendish St, W1B 1LU D) Migrants' rights, W1B 1LS E) Jewish bloc, W1B 1QQ F) Ukraine, around junction with Weymouth St, W1B 1JL G) Europe, W1B 1NR More stewards still needed Stewards are a crucial part of keeping the protest safe for everyone to participate. They are a visible point of contact for attendees who may need directions or other assistance. Experience of stewarding is useful but it's also fine if you haven't done it before. You will be issued with a hi-vis jacket and briefed in advance and on the day.  Sign up to be a steward Staying comfortable on the day The demonstration lasts for several hours, so we suggest you should:     Bring a bottle of water and snacks (and eat beforehand)     Charge your phone fully the night before, and bring a portable charger if you can     Go to the loo beforehand (really!)     Buddy up with someone, or stick together as a group – it can be hard to find people easily if people wander off     Coming alone? Protests can be a great place to meet like-minded people. If you feel unsure, you can always talk to a steward     Consider the weather: bring a waterproof jacket or wear suncream where necessary     Wear comfortable clothes and footwear, and use our accessible route if you need to (see above) Bring your friends and family on Wednesday. Let’s make this massive! In solidarity, Stop Trump Coalition
