HUMAN BEING IN INABILITY TO RECOGNISE THE BLATANT

CONTRADICTORY NATURE OF THEIR OWN ARGUMENT -

SHOCKER!

I'm with you on this one Brendan .

I think I saw him this morning when I was on the bus going to work. He had 2 children with him, so if he has no children then prob not him. Thought it a bit coincidental as only found out who he was yesterday, but certainly looked like the picture in the paper and this guy was sporting drab jumper and pony tail look.

Looking at it from the point of the suits, I'm sure they don't want non-suits in 'their' pubs, they like to stick to their own kind and feel uneasy around free-wheeling tee shirt/wooly-jumper-wearing types.

I think the first verse of this Kevin Ayres song puts it quite well.

"I walked into this bar

and the man refused;

He said, "We don't serve strangers

in blue suede shoes;

We don't give credit, and

We don't give way--

We have to think about what the people might say..

uh, you know what I mean..."

I said, "Sure, man""

I'm not his mate but I can certainly see the father/son resemblance:

Nothing wrong with a good suit gentlemen. It doesn't mean we work for anyone else in a job we despise either. But whilst we are stereotyping, the Gingham shirts, jeans ,and cons just as much a uniform for the creatives. Lets throw in some Crocs / Gladiator sandals for the girls and everyone in East Dulwich looks the same....

WITH THE FOLLOWING NOTABLE EXCEPTIONS:

- Surfbobby - the famous organiser of the Barry Barry Run has his own garish yet truely unique style

- Sean McGhabaghan - the forum stalwarts walk-in wardrobe of all black is a classic, simple statement that says "Irish Ninja"

- Another Sean, this time Sean from Sean's DIY - a gentleman with a coiffured hairstyle that sticks two fingers up to my own gutless short back and sides. Here is a freethinking man of his own means who doesn't give a toss what you think.

Hats off to you all.

"thankyou very much "

bye bye .........

Yes - it must have been him, he does have 2 boys. What a coincidence, one day I had never heard of him, then read in the free paper that he lives in ED and then actually see him the next day in the flesh. Wonder what he is called On Da Forum?

    • Just a quick post to say that my restaurant reviews column is now one year old. There are 45 reviews here* - mostly of local places (some sadly now defunct, others thriving). There are a couple of recipes from a period when I couldn't afford to eat out, a couple of moans about my health when I couldn't eat out on doctor's orders and a couple of reviews beyond our manor. But the main thing is that it is a free, useful guide to local dining and, I hope, an entertaining read. You can, of course, pay to subscribe or follow for free to get the reviews directly into your inbox as I don't want to spam EDF with every review (doctor says I'm not allowed spam anyway). The pictures below come from my two most popular reviews - Persepolis (new SE22 spin-off opening soon) and Norbert's, a great addition to East Dulwich. Please have a read and please consider subscribing. Did I mention you can subscribe for free?   https://eatsdulwich.substack.com/  *It would have been 46 but one review didn't run because the meal was so disappointing. I try not to be negative. To paraphrase Boyzone (or is it Westlife?) I said it best by saying nothing at all.
    • I'd like to recommend Andy - came out very last minute to help us with a rental property that was having plumbing issues. We couldn't source the problem but Andy was able to find it / fix it easily & took the stress out of the problem. We have booked him again to put in a new bath for us now too as we were so happy with this work.    Lovely fella - thoroughly recommend using! Andy's number is 07983 688 451

If you're looking to get fitter and / or lose weight, and you don't have any mobility issues, then download the coach to 5k app and start running. It's by far the easiest, quickest and cheapest way to improve your cardiovascular fitness and it's great for clearing your head!
