Oh I can handle the cuddly HAL9000 (at least I hope I can...):-S...besides he knows how awesome I think he is

Upping the glamour quotient never a bad thing in my book

Nah, you're both quite safe. Ignorance is bliss. I'm not going to look up 'Citizen Smith' or 'BENNY from Crossroads' in case my delusional self-image is shattered!

Now then - where did I put my Homburg?

Phew! think I might have got away with that one

Don't be like that. Little Red Riding Hood, Little Bo Peep, Florence Nightingale, Florence from the Magic Roundabout, Mother Teresa and Mary Whitehouse are all still available - take your pick.

I'm sure we can find something suitable for Moos, too. Ermintrude, perhaps? No one should feel left out.

Ring them up and ask them!

I'd love to attend - provided I don't have to "glam up" - would definitely go if it were fancy or "normal" dress - either way I would go as a HOBBIT...my short, stumpy, hairy legs qualify beautifully!

Great! I'd love to meet your "bit of fluff" and you can meet my delicious bit of "black pudding"! Mmmmm.

You know, you REALLY should give the EDF drinks a try, they are ENORMOUS fun [AREN'T THEY EVERYBODY!] - you would have a BALL, and - boy - would they love YOU!! Go on, come to the next one...

Sorry if you find me too worthy BBW, but I find it tedious and frustrating that a simple question about whether we should dress up a bit for December drinks and make it a bit of a Christmas party (as has happened previous years)can descend so quickly into bum jokes and mild homophobia.

And Ladymuck there was no suggestion of anyone having to glam up, I asked what people thought, that's all, and the answer is perfectly clear.

I don't find you worthy or boring Anna but you're being needlessly negative. You've been on the forum long enough to know that the odd bum/tit/knob joke is going to pop up now and again because a lot of us like a bit of humour.

There was no homophobia (mild or strong) following your suggestion to glam up. Lighten up a bit.

I'll be aiming for the "balloon knot" effect

just don't turn up at a Pink Drinks by mistake.

I would class that as mild homophobia, although not from you I hastened to add, I've only quoted your post to give context as it was what HAL was responding to.

I like a bit of humour to and I don't at all mind the odd tit/knob/bum joke, but it's not the odd one or two, it's all over the place and it's dull.

Have to agree, totally did a double take at that. "whyever not, they're a good bunch" thought I. But long past drumming any sense into this place. One solitary trip intonthe main section to see the usual puddles of bile on display was enough for me.

Anyhoo I shall hope to be at one or both, mistletoe free but dressed with a smile and a warm heart on my sleeve, fear not.

    • Sue My point being that if you experience something that could potentially be sorted by a GP, you might feel it necessary to go to A&E, which would be clogged up due to the doctors strike.  Just my opinion, but I don't really see that its necessary to close a surgery for half a day for staff training.
    • A huge shout-out to Andy! He’s helped us several times now and is an absolute gem. He doesn't just do the easy jobs; he finds solutions to the difficult, non-obvious problems that others might miss. He is very hard working, incredibly friendly, great with pets, and always leaves the place better than he found it. 10/10!
    • Here to add my voice to those praising Temi. She just painted my dilapidated home office in ED and did a fantastic job in just two days in a much lighter colour, including woodwork, damp blocker and filling holes. She's efficient, on time and I barely heard a peep out of her; she just got on with the job. I recommend her wholeheartedly.
    • The residents & families of the estate are getting parking fines,  out of the blue , the residents parking system waa changed from Southern to Sippi with cameras put up in the car park and people issued with fines entering the estate for more then 10 minutes , families can no longer pick up or drop off family due to a new 10 minute wait fine. Residents are appealing with Sippi and Southern as there was no letters to consult of a parking change,  new waiting times or fines, delivery drivers are getting fines everyday,  if you get a fine,  appeal it, there is no signage up to say about parking fines or waiting time
