I've read that post three times now and don't know where to start. May I suggest that you don't make assumptions and such generalisations on people Jenny, you don't know what colour we are, where we're from, what our sexual preferences are etc etc. Don't tar everyone with the same brush as someone who has rubbed you up the wrong way, you may be pleasantly surprised how nice people in the community actually are.

As it goes Keef is a born and bred dulwicher from a resolutely working class background, who put himself through university and works in public service contributing a great deal more to this country than I ever will, and is consistently one of the most reasonable, even handed and popular posters on the forum.

You don't seem to have made an awful lot of friends here, just an observation.

I think it's a case of massive chip on shoulder.

Jenny's original post, which came from nowhere, was fantastically vitriolic - something she apparently doesn't like in her neighbour - and she is making some horrendous sweeping generalisations, but others on this forum do that too. In fact I think Jenny made some pretty hateful comments in her original post, which is what she is accusing others of doing.

So my point is, she is an utter hypocrite and obviously really unhappy. Let's leave her alone.

Damn, whilst being a schmuck for a happy ending I feel that we have missed out on the last moments of a scintillating melodrama. It's like that brilliant episode of Hancock's Half Hour where the final page of the novel he is reading is ripped out. C'mon guys, I know a PM is a PM but couldn't you just let us have a little sneak at the contents of those private messages between the two of you. We were privvy to the tiff, I mean, I was even taking sides and now its all come to nothing. All that vitriol dissipated by...what, exactly?

On the matter of misunderstandings, Keef claims that much of the disagreement comes from things being Lost in Translation. This happens quite a bit on the Forum. Someone posts but gets their commas and full stops all out of synch and someone reads it wrongly and takes umbrage. Accusation and counter-accusation fly around and then, all is calm as people realise they have rather jumped in, both feet wedged firmly in their mouth. I guess this is just the nature of things when the written word is used in place of the spoken word. Intonation and nuance are difficult when writing: we throw in Smileys, exclaimation marks and the such like, but taking a minute to check that you are saying what you think you are saying, and the other person said what you reckon they said would clear up some of the unnecessary spats.
