Thing is, when the advise from the met office was to only go out if essential, I think people had every right to stay off. I basically agree about the use of the word "impossible" though, and have actually done the walk to work before, but on a nice sunny morning! Anyway, feck it, seems like ancient history now I'm here trying to catch up on a HUGE backlog of paperwork and a nice day off seems like a nice but distant dream, a bit like that time I went through a wardrobe and met this speaking lion...

Hang on a cotton picking second! Where did Atila mention compassion? He said from the off, that as a father of 2, he could understand the pain. He then went on in a completely different angle, and I think people have taken it in the wrong was. Perhaps replace the word "deserve" with "need" might be more apt, but he is talking about "help & support", not compassion. I am with Atila, sad as Jade's plight may be.

According to Walkit.com, my walk (Sydenham - Woolwich) would be; Now add snow and ice to that, and I think it's safe to say that Greenwich council can feck off!!! It's cool anyway, I'm leaving in 2 weeks, and have already agreed my leaving date and remaining leave, so HAHAHAHAHA!

Twisted. I thought I was a rebel for putting forks in the microwave at house parties :-S

Now that is worth being upset about, I'd not get out of bed for days! Sorry for your loss man!

EDF Drinks - tonight Friday 6th February - Black Cherry

Sean, I still use the term Rock up. Gosh, I wish I was as with it as you! ;-) -
I know it wasn't a classic, but I thought it was quite a good game to watch. Obviously not pleased with the result, but was kind of expecting it. Royal feck up by ITV! I'm not at all pleased with Rafa, he's sealed legend status because he won the champions league, but I think outside of Europe he's quite average.

Because I always curse any player I pick in any fantasy team, however good their form has been leading up to my picking them!
-
Brendan, very very fair point! (on train now by the way)
-
Hmmm, openers both gone within 10 overs for 11 runs between them. Same old same old!
-
At LB right now, and trains don't seem too bad.

What stage is it when you are actually sleeping with another forumite? Not saying that's me by the way, but can think of a couple, and that is commitment to the cause!
-
But what player's manager wouldn't scream at him to run it in to the corner? It's good sensible play, like it or not. Know what you're saying, but would rather see that than a goal keeper bouncing the call 15 times before deciding to kick it!

I am playing a gig this Saturday at a rugby club in Twickenham. Imagine my disappintment when I realised it was some little dunp on the outskirts! :( In all seriousness, it's going to be a fecker to get to! Lets just hope England show some improvement, or shall get absolutely mullered!

No longer a forum virgin (Lounged)... and in trouble again!

It is definitely East Dulwich Forum specific, so you could argue that as the forum is so specific to East Dulwich, any thread about the forum is also specific to Dulwich... :-S I've just gone crosseyed! -
Just spoke to Mrs Keef, and her place of work are talking about doing the same... She will be especially annoyed as they are not paying for her maternity leave, so this will effectively be taking a day of that away from her. Grrr!!! Makes me feel pleased that over that last 6 years I've probably pinched a good 2 years worth of hours off of my employers!

Stupid rule! Glad Lampard's card was recinded, but the above rule is rubbish! If the assistant ref admits to seeing it, and video shows that it is clearly an offence, then the player and the assistant should be punished!

What Moos said. Reminds me of something that happened to me. Some years ago (about 1998) I was down from Liverpool, and went out for a day helping a plumber I knew. Long story short, I ended up getting hit on the head by a falling flu (the pipe that goes out of the wall from the top of your boiler), and was rushed to Chelsea Westminster Hospital with a fractured skull. We'd started work about 7am, and this happened just before we were going to get lunch. I was "nil by mouth" in the hospital, and didn't get a bed on a ward til about 10pm (and was starving). My family and then girlfriend were there with me when the ward nurse came over and had to ask a few questions, one of which was "would you like to see a priest"? I honestly wasn't trying to be funny at all when I found myself saying "Will he bring me some bread and wine"? Ah memories :-S

EDF Drinks - tonight Friday 6th February - Black Cherry

I must have got very lucky at the Phoenix, was very busy the first hour, but then got a lot quieter. Longest I waited at the bar was about 2 minutes! Aaaanyway, like I said, not trying to be negative about Friday, sure it will be nice, and the Cherry is the one place between the police station and ED Station I'd actually make the effort to go to on a weekend night (I'm just not good with crowds). -
As you say GG, making up some hours is fair, and to be fair to my employers, they do offer the option of flexi-leave, but it just seems so tight of them, when it was just impossible to get in to the office. Thing that annoys me is that I would have actually called in sick (genuinely this time, not a sicky), and was off sick yesterday, but didn't on Monday because it didn't seem worth it at the time. Not to worry, for once my dodgy eyes can do me a favour, and I shall claim my "special" leave... (does calling it "specis" seem to be taking the p!ss out of the disabled a bit?) ;-)
-
I really shouldn't, and apologise for rising to it, but ... LOL!!!! >:D< After being all humble and nice, you finished with quite the flurry!

I was Cof E, but very "High Church", and mass was barely any different to catholic mass. When I do go for whatever reason (usually being roped in to choir for special services by my mum), I too do every last genuflection, say the responses, and even say all the prayers that I could recite word for word anytime! Aaaaanyway, I feel I've changed the thread of this thread (:-S), so come on people, what are we all giving up for Lent? Actually, with a kid on the way in April, I shall be giving up my freedom, so if you don't mind, I shall spend Lent indulging in as many of my vices as possible!

I came in this morning to find the following memo Staff absence due to adverse weather conditions / travel difficulties Managers are reminded that those employees who are unable to attend work will be required to take annual leave or flexi leave. The only exceptions are disabled employees who may be granted up to 2 days special leave or where an employee is a primary carer of a child where the school has closed can be granted up to 2 days compassionate leave. Employees who attended work but have received approval for late arrivals/early departures should be recorded as a standard day without loss of pay or recording leave. In my opinion, completely out of order for Monday, when there simply was no way to make it in! I shall be playing the disabled staff card (may as well get some good out of it), but think it is so bad for those who couldn't get in, just because they didn't happen to have a kid or a disability. So, what do others think, has your work place been generous or tight?

I'm not trying to put a downer on it or anything. It's just they had a private party in the downstairs area on Saturday, but can only fit so many behind that bar, and if someone asks for 4 cocktails, then queues will start to grow! I like the Cherry though, and I like Angela, so I shall pop in for a bit (couple of Bona Vistas and Mojitos), but may be a bit too much of a squeeze for me to hang around all night.
