  1. Shay Given talking to Man City. Now that would be a good signing, and who could blame him.
  2. Agreed, very very nice. Mrs Keef (vegetarian) was also impressed.
  3. What do you mean local, you "luvPECKHAM"!
  4. Neither of which existed when I was a kid, at which point Rye Lane was thethriving busy shopping centre and markets, whilst Lordship Lane was somewhere you popped to to get something you'd forgotten in Peckham from one of the little grocers.
  5. Good spot Matthew, Declan's answer was correct, but used her maiden name. So it's Declans turn. Note: her other name is Coakes
  6. Just looked this up, as I knew I'd never get it, and I'd never heard of the person!
  7. I have actually been told that that is a fault of mine... I do think some people are horrid... If I see the best in Fergie, then other people must think he actually IS Satan! ;-)
  8. What Louisa said!!! Was chatting to Bob S and his lovely lady about this some time ago. When I was a kid, Rye Lane used to be a good plave to go and shop!
  9. Jeremy I know a few of you work in the city, but I was thinking more the buyers and sellers on big bonuses. I know this could well spread much further than that (I saw a good friend the other day who is really worried about his job as an architect), but I don't think the "middle classes" of ED are all going to lose their homes, whilst the hoodies start smashing stuff up.
  10. Harsh SP, I think what Matthew was saying was that you beat the lowly opposition, whilst Liverpool will drop silly points. Not that you only beat lowly opposition. Calm down sir! I think Torres is every bit the player we all want him to be. There are however big question marks over his ability to stay fit :(
  11. Touche, However, millions and millions and muillions of people have lived to nowhere near that age, so whilst it could be possible, I think that stands as pretty good proof.
  12. Dick Francis? No idea when this happened, but he was a jockey wasn't he? Bob Champion? :-S Actually that was National Velvet wasn't it.
  13. I'm not so sure the demographics will change that much. These may be hard times, but I don't think ED is made up of city folk so much so I doubt there will be massive redundancies in the area leading to repossessions. Basically, all this is really going to mean for the majority of people is that they'll have to put the plans to upsize on hold, and stick where they are for a while. Everyone is going on about house prices falling, but if you're not selling and your job is safe, you're okay.
  14. LOL!!! >:D
  15. Robbo's blog all about Rafa this time. This guy is not biased (except towards Boro), and I actually agree with most of what he says. Also one of the comments at the bottom Isn't far off. Kuyt is a work horse, Benayoun has talent, Keane was good at Spurs with Berbatov, but none are the sort of signings that are going to set the world alight, OR young unknowns that can be nurtured. On a lighter note, shame whats going on at Man City.
  16. Hey nonny nonny. :)-D
  17. Is it because you've been lounging things? That usually completely buggers the numbers for me.

    Ask Admin

I don't particularly care about this, but I was just wondering why threads offering holiday homes for hire get put in the lounge rather than staying in the offered thread with all the other stuff for sale? Just couldn't work it out.
  19. Fair enough Bizzy, but I still say that NO ONE has ever lived 950 years! :)) Anyway, I'll let others join in this thread now, may come back later...
  20. I think I may need to step back from this thread now... I will say though Bizzy, I am pleased you have your faith, and should anyone try to put you down for it, they are wrong. HOWEVER, a Christian who won't accept the possibility that it is all just a nonsense is every bit as bad as a patronising atheist who refuses to accept the possibility of anything outside of proven science! I prefer to accept that some things are proven fact (or at least far more proven than a bible story), yet I leave myself open to belief in a higher being. This doesn't make me perfect, but it makes me accepting of others, something that I think a lot of people on both sides of this thread are not.
  21. I think actually human's are move "advanced" now than they would have been then, and lifespans are vertainly longer now than they were say 500 years ago, so it's not outside the rhealms of possibility to suggest that a human wouldn't have made 100 let alone 950. I am all for Christianality, and would NEVER question your right to believe in God (no one can PROVE s/he doesn't exist) and the Bible, but I do call in to question people taking literally old stories that are just NOT possible! Please don't take this the wrong way, but to be honest, if I was on the fence, and open to being taken in to the fold, and someone started preaching that sort of thing to me, they would turn me straight off. I'd rather someone say, "of course someone couldn't have lived to 950, but the point is the story offers us ideas and moral suggestions", that might make me go along to see what it was all about.

    Oh my (2)

Wow, it's almost like a black version of me! How strange.
  23. I'd always struggled to describe what I am, and I think you've just nailed it. Although I would say "former candle carrying CofE".
  24. I agree that the title is fast becoming United's to lose now. As for the Arse, only last season (first half at least) you were playing some of the best footy this country has seen in years! But as you say, you need some extra players, and the squad couldn't go the distance. I think Wenger will get them back up there though. I am enjoying this season, just for the fact that it is so close in all parts of the table!
  25. Obviously a good thing, but as Radio 4 were saying this morning, whilst the people in power are doing all this, there are still those "little people" who 10 years on, still don't want to be living together with the other side. And that is in Northern Ireland, where bad as the troubles were, I wouldn't say they are in the same league as Israel... Please don't beast me for that Irish people, I am not belittling the troubles in any way!!!
