  1. Good match I thought. To be fair, Arsenal were the better team, but Newcastle were a lot better than they have been recently, and they really worked hard for the result. Keeps it interesting at the top...
  2. I had these saved from when I was doing a quotes round for a quiz, and was going to pick one to post here, but with Ali, you can't pick a winner... I done wrestled with an alligator, I done tussled with a whale; handcuffed lightning, thrown thunder in jail; only last week, I murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalised a brick; I'm so mean I make medicine sick. It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up. I'm not the greatest; I'm the double greatest. Not only do I knock 'em out, I pick the round. I'm so fast that last night I turned off the light switch in my hotel room and got into bed before the room was dark. The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights. When you can whip any man in the world, you never know peace. I'm the best. I just haven't played yet. (about golf) I never thought of losing, but now that it's happened, the only thing is to do it right. That's my obligation to all the people who believe in me. We all have to take defeats in life. Boxing is a lot of white men watching two black men beat each other up. I know I got it made while the masses of black people are catchin' hell, but as long as they ain't free, I ain't free. I am America. I am the part you won't recognise. But get used to me. Black, confident, cocky; my name, not yours; my religion, not yours; my goals, my own; get used to me. I got nothing against no Viet Cong. No Vietnamese ever called me a 'nigger'. Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go 10,000 miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on brown people while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs? Nobody has to tell me that this is a serious business. I'm not fighting one man. I'm fighting a lot of men, showing a lot of 'em, here is one man they couldn't defeat, couldn't conquer. My mission is to bring freedom to 30m black people. A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life. What's really hurting me - the name Islam is involved, and Muslim is involved and causing trouble and starting hate and violence. Islam is not a killer religion, Islam means peace. I couldn't just sit home and watch people label Muslims as the reason for this problem. (After 9/11) Thought that was a good one
  3. In seriousness, the toon have absolutely no chance tonight barring a lucky penalty or something...
  4. Nothing personal Ladygooner, but you're ahead of us, so obviously I want you to slip up. Would always cheer you Europe, even against any other British side, except obviously the pool.
  5. I can't help disliking him either, he is just so arrogant, and really has no basis for it! That said, COME ON THE TOON!!! >:D<

Excuse the home made vid, but what a tune. Funny how it's the same artist though!
  7. The actor didn't want him to be one, so maybe he isn't one... I could never really get in to it to be honest, but guess I should try it again, as I was quite young when I watched it, and it put me off.
  8. I'm with *Bob* with regards Dylan, but I've definitely had this conversation on here before.
  9. Ah bless ya Sean. :)) I actually heard another version of it on Desert Island Disks recently, think it was actually K D Lang (could be wrong). Quite a nice version with lots of strings. I know exactly what you mean though, it's one that I have over played, but after a while I'm ready for it again. I also tried to name old favourites, as newer songs can come and go. Hot Fuss by the Killers was an album I played all the time when it came out, and I grew completely bored of it! It has a couple of great songs on it, which I'm sure I'll like a lot more in the future, but right now the whole album just bores me. Similar thing for me comes with classics like Sweet Child. Ilove it, and I love Guns N' Roses, and if it's ever on in a bar I'll go mad for it. However, if it came on at home these days, I'd probably flick.

Maybe I'd have turned out so much sweeter if I'd have just liked Abba and the Bay City Rollers, like my friends did! It really annoys me seeing his face plastered everywhere, being sported by people who wouldn't have the first clue who he was! Problem with revolutionaries is that they're all a bit mental really aren't they. I mean, he did greaat things for Cuba and all that, but I'm not sure he was a very nice guy. Guess that's why your average man/woman on the street doesn't create revolutions.

Nimrod - Elgar Lamentation Symphony - Haydn Creation - Haydn Requiem - Mozart (Like Verdi's too, but Mozart's pips it for me) Adagio for Organ & Strings in G Minor - Albinoni There is also a string quartet by Schubert, but can't remember which one off the top of my head.

Aaaanyway, songs that have stood the test of time with me would include... "Wild Horses" - Rolling Stones "Today" - Smashing Pumpkins "Round Here" - Counting Crows "Patience" - Guns N' Roses Actually, now I've written that, I realise that they're all songs I play quite regularly... Come to The Plough on Friday!!! ;-)
  13. John Skinner, my old music teacher. He worked so so hard, and drove us all on to get the best out of us. To this day, some of the best quality music I've ever been involved in, and that includes university and several bands and orchestras as an adult.

Doing the sniff test is a bit much, I think you know trust has broken down when you're partner is acting like a dog the minute you come in the door!
  15. Since this thread is here, I'm going to chuck in a plug for my mate Nathan. He's the friendly Aussie guy who used to run the CPT (his sister still does). Nathan runs The George which is on the main road between Clapham South and Balham. If you're in the area, it's a nice pub, and very good for watching sport.
  16. I always tip the delivery guy. Remember, they haven't cooked the food if it is bad, they just got it to you quickly.
  17. I think ED will always remain a bit older than Clapham, in that it's very much a family area with lots f schools and young families. You don't really see that many 18-25 year olds out and about (Inside72 aside), it seems more 25+ in the bars/pubs. Also, we don't, as yet, have aussie rules footy on Sundays in the park...
  18. There are good things about Clapham, but it has had it's own sub economy for a long time, and has been full of pretentious knobs for years... Some of whom, I think it's fair to say, have moved to ED.

    World AIDS day

Fair play, sorry to be nosey, I just wondered if you didn't want to tell them about the HIV because you hadn't told them you were gay, but obviously not.

That just made me think ofthis programme about 9/11 "The Falling Man", in which certain very very simple little rednecks were saying that those who had jumped from the (very very hot and unstable towers) were burning in Hell and took the cowards way out. F**king knobs Anyway, I tried changing my name to protect my identity a bit more (for those reading in the future), and was bullied in to changing it back. Luckily though, my kids would just see what an incredibly cool and witty guy their dad was :-S

cdonline, this is a really personal question, so feel free not to answer it, or to tell me to piss off. I was wondering if you are gay or straight, and if you're gay, have you told your parents that?
  22. So where is this school of yours Caron? Is it state?

Something I feel quite strongly about in these situations, is that if you choose to forgive and take back (not saying you should do, but IF you do), then you have to put it in the past. You can't win every arguement ever by playing the "you cheated" card. That really isn't fair. I was cheated on once. Ironic thing was that she spent 5 years being the most obsessively jealous person in the world, and convinced I'd cheat on her, which genuinely never crossed my mind... Well, not seriously anyway. Was not nice, but for me it just showed the state of our relationship and made me wake up and move on with my life.
  24. Why would anyone bother making this up, as Jeremy says, it would win awards for most dull hoax ever! Kyle does sound very young though. Kyle, you should go to Amsterdam in the Netherlands (Holland), it's just the place for a young man to have some new experiences.
