  1. I got the email, but forgot all about it. Oh well, I'll pop in in the next week or 2 and check it out. I really hope this place is busy enough to do a good business, but not busy like The Bishop. If that is the case, I'll probably be a fan.
  2. Wow Mick, I'm impressed. I wish I had the power to speak for a whole bunch of people, and to know their thoughts. You're some kind of superhero.
  3. Says who? They may be all too pleased about jokes that show up their abusers for what they are. I may be wrong of course, but then, I wouldn't presume to speak for a group of people, just because I felt uncomfortable about something.

    Clarkson

Just going back to the Lee / Clarkson thing, wouldn't it be more Jim Davidson instead of Clarkson? Aaanyway, I personally don't feel that stronly either way. I was never in to cars, so never watched Top Gear as a kid, ow it's more of an entertainment programme, I still don't watch it. I don't think he believes everything he says to the extent he says it, but, there is no smoke without fire, and I think his personality is a bit like that, it's just magnified on telly. I'm certainly not a fan, but I confess to having chuckled at him a few times. Then again, I got dragged to a Roy Chubby Brown tribute when on holiday a few years ago, and I ended up laughing my arse off, so what do I know!
  5. Just for the record, I don't have particularly strong feelngs either way about this, but think edcam makes some good points. My only issue is with the Nazi thing that gets said quite a bit.

  7. I have no issue with people's issues about the pope / catholic church. My only issue is with people calling him a Nazi, because he was in the Nazi youth. I'd have liked to have seen them refuse to go along with it at the time. I know some people did, and I'd love to be able to say I'd have told them to do one, but realistically, when people are being dragged off here there and everywhere, can you blame people for sending their kids along, and keeping quiet?
  8. I don't have one, but quite want one. I know what you mean about reral books, but one of these in your suitcase is going to make holiday reading a lot more compact!
  9. Call the police then. Where the fuck do you live to get that many?
  10. Class is an outdated load of w@nk. PS. I think some Wetherspoons are quite nice. The fox on the hill was always okay.
  11. Ask the local authority where they currently live about "personalisation" and "self directed support". It depends whether that authority is doing much about it (all of them will eventually, but lots have their heads stuck in the sand at the moment). It is possibe to get an "individual budget" with which to buy in the services that best suit your circumstances, so may be possible to stay in their own home, but with all the necessary support. Some info here
  12. Why don't you put a sign up saying "I respect your right to believe in God*, please respect the fact that I don't". That way, if they still knock, you have every right to say you have been polite, now please go away. I had a couple of ladies knock on my door the other day, and I just told them I was comfortable with my own beliefs, and they accepted that. I chatted to them in a friendly way for about 2 minutes of my life, and then we said goodbye, and I doubt they'll come back, but I wasn't nasty to them. But hey, religious intolerance seems to be the in thing (unless you're a feckin loon from America), so why be polite. *Which I suspect you don't.
  13. SP, I'm not smug, I fully expect Liverpool to finish well below your lot, and even 4th would be nice. However, I do feel like there are better times ahead, if we can stay afloat for the time being, and fingers crossed ownership will be settled before Jan, so we won't lose any more players. Oh, and hopefully Torres can get back to 100%, and stay there... Man U won't let leads slip away like that too often, so I enjoyed it whilst I had the chance.
  14. Regarding yesterdays match, I was pleased I got to the pub late, and missed most of the first half, as it was shite. Good thing the keeper was in form, but to be fair, Birminham don't lose at home very often, so there is no shame in a draw. Didn't think I'd ever enjoy "Fergie time", but it happened this weekend.
  15. How can she still be feeling smug, when she never was? :-S
  16. Good point buggie, I'd not thought about that, but I am basically oblivious to anything going on around me in the morning, I just have my head in a bood, trying to shut out the horrors of the journey to work! Anyway, I think people should offer their seats, but unfortunately you can't automatically expect them to. However, if it's the priority seats we're talking about, I would expect them to, and ask them to move.

    People I like

Basically just means you agree with something.

    People I like

I like me. Wll someone has to. Word!
  19. As was I. I have no intention of falling out with anyone on here DJKQ, but I think Quids was well within his rights to be a bit p!ssed off at the way you misrepresented his post. PS. Quids, I was told the day after the budget that my contract was being finished, and it ends next Friday. I have something else to go to, so won't be on the streets, but the new contract is not something I want to be doing for long. Still, you gotta eat. Edited because I left out a "no" that rather changed the context of what I was saying.
  20. Well that's a bit pathetic. Harrison will probably be knocked out first round, and Haye will just look like he's knocked out a journeyman. "Quality opponent" my arse!
  21. Local authorities need to be smart about their services, and inventive, and they can provide a better service for less money, simple as that. I've spent the last year building a project, which now gives an individual about 6 times the input they were getting before, and save the council a bunch of cash. Everyone's a winner. The problem is that too many councils are scared to spend a few quid to save a load more, but they will have to start.
  22. 25% within 3 years, but I you're looking at it rather simplistically. There is a duty of care, and services have to be provided. The problem for local authorities is going to be making the money stretch. The staff will suffer for it, but I don't think we'll see actual care services disappearing. There is a leaning towards personalisation, and it will allow people to use local authority money to buy in private sector services. What I hope will happe, is that private care homes for people with various disabilities will have to stop charging a fecking silly amount of money to local authorities, as this is where the money goes, and the LA's will hopefully start to turn round and just tell these businesses that they can't afford them!
  23. Pork Scratchings rock!
  24. He never said that. They probably will affect him more than a fair few, he never said they'd affect him morethan anyone. Also, what essential care services are the disabled about to lose?
  25. Spent ost of the evening outside, but nice to see a few of you, and meet some new people.
