Royal Mail..parcels not being delivered
Sue replied to Oneredfish's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
James, there's another thread here: /forum/read.php?5,2236584 -
kiera Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- I'm sure Royal Mail > management at a higher level would find the true > situation totally unacceptable if they only knew. I believe Helen Hayes took it up with the CEO of Royal Mail, but that was some time ago.

KateFord Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- And > no one seems to be bothering about our area > suffering from this awful service. Helen Hayes, our MP, has tried very very hard to do something about it, including initially trying not to get the East Dulwich delivery office in Sylvester Road closed, so it is not true to say that nobody is bothering about it, unless you mean Royal Mail itself?

Someone told me recently about an open mic night in or quite near East Dulwich, and I can't remember where it was. I'm already aware of several but this was a new one. I also can't remember who told me 🤣 Can anyone help? (With venues, not with who told me! 🤣)

If there are goods in the vehicle which need to be kept refrigerated, how else are they going to do it? I feel your pain. I have complained about this in the past (different vehicle) until the reason was explained to me.

Accessing GP appointments - Link for feedback

Clapham isn't local to the people in East Dulwich using this forum, though, so I think Callie may well be correct. -
I'm having mine at The Gardens tomorrow. I may see your hubby there, Pugwash! Judging by the weird time of mine, it seems they must be doing them at two minute intervals. I asked for a later appointment and was told they were allocating them in the order people phoned for the appointment (so it's up at crack of dawn for me 😶)

New flexible plastic packaging recycling scheme at Sainsbury's

I can't see the DKH Sainsbury's on that map, only the Forest Hill one?? -
Isn't her address on it, if it was wrongly delivered to your house?

Which end of Rye Lane is the bottom end? The end nearest to East Dulwich with Mr Bao (?) etc?

It is mostly removed manually at the first stage of sorting at the recycling centre. Although judging by the air of boredom surrounding the guys doing it when I visited on an open day, I'm not sure how thoroughly. And that was on a day when "the public" were watching!

James McAsh, a delegate from Camberwell and Peckham, says if the 20% threshold were in place in the 1990s, John Prescott and Margaret Beckett would not have been able to stand for the leadership. Ed Balls, Diane Abbott and Andy Burnham would have been excluded in 2010, he says. And he says if the same rule had applied after the 2019 election defeat, Keir Starmer would have been the only candidate. He says with this rule change, candidates will be paler, maler and staler.

But surely it's because they are trying to minimise face to face contact in the present Covid situation? Certainly the policy should be better communicated, but it's completely understandable, surely? -
Surely "they" should be a) rationing petrol and b) giving emergency vehicles and essential workers who need a vehicle to get to work priority? Is that naive?

Thanks both! Mine should be coming up in the next couple of weeks then, but if it doesn't materialise I will go the health centre. Thanks again!

I asked at my GP recently and was told I had to wait to be contacted from the NHS (I presume) but I haven't heard anything yet despite being in the high risk group.

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?

The garage at Goose Green has both E5 and E10 petrol. My car now has to use E5, grrrrr.

I bank with First Direct, and since HSBC no longer has a branch in East Dulwich, I use the Post Office if I need to physically use a bank, eg paying cash in. They have an arrangement with First Direct. I have always used them to change notes to coins if I need to, for the float for our gigs. I've never had any problems before. This Friday we have our first concert since before lockdown, and I went to get some pound coins for the float. I was told that I couldn't do this unless I had a "change card", and I would need to go to the bank. Luckily Barclays (who I have never had an account with) kindly did this for me, otherwise I would have needed to go to the HSBC branch in Peckham. When i got home, I phoned First Direct, who said they have never heard of a "change card", and that they didn't provide one. Can anybody shed any light on this apparently new Post Office requirement? What is a "change card", and how do I get one? ETA: I've just googled it. Apparently you now have to have an HSBC business account to get change. I now realise what I should have done is just withdraw cash at the counter and ask for it in pound coins. I'm sure they would have been delighted.
