    Tory Britain

    I think I can see a pattern . . .
  2. Hope it turns up. Good luck.
  3. I'm sure his wife thought differently when she discovered his affair. I've not met either of them but at the end of the day they're both politicians so not 100% trustworthy. There's not much between them even if their ideology is different. On drink and drugs: Ken-Likes a Whisky, Boris prefers Cocaine On political cohesion: Ken was kicked out off Labour's National Executive for being radical, Boris was sacked from the Tory front bench for lying On misquotes: Ken misquoted on the 'Nazi' affair and Boris on the 'Water Melons and Piccannini' speech On love life: Ken has kids out of wedlock, Boris got caught The only major difference I can see is that Ken (who was born and brought up around the corner) has run London, pretty well IMO and Boris has no track record and was born in the US and educated in Brussels.
  4. I don't think a huge supermarket would be economically viable in a small village. I can think of instances in the countryside where an out of town hypermarket serves several villages and towns quite successfully where the village Post Office shop just doesn't cater for all needs.
  5. Do you mean Communism?
  6. Not unless it's something like 8R3 NDAN
  7. Shouldn't you blank out the car reg? Now he can sue you for tens of thousands of pounds for invasion of privacy and publicly disclosing details of his private vehicle. Better get a good lawyer.
  8. I'm not sure that the type of car has anything to do with it, more the type of driver. Big flashy cars tend to have voice activated hands free systems built in. However, I think at least 99% of people that own a mob and a car have at some point used it manually in the car, even if it was just to say "I'm driving, I'll call you back later." Controversially I'm sure there's also a small minority of drivers who are quite capable of driving a car and using a mob at the same time very safely.
  9. I think CWALD used to be a senior executive at BP.
  10. CWALD are you posting from Mo' Bay?
  11. Not asking Mrs LL to marry me ten years earlier than I did. There were complications but eventually I did. Not making up with my cousin before she topped herself. We were extremely close. Her mother rejected her when she was 12 and she grew up with my family. Unfortunately we stopped talking after a big argument 6 months before she OD'd. Becoming a tobacco junkie at 13 and stopping 34 years too late. But better late than never.
  12. More likely because it was far too expensive and there just aren't enough parents in ED prepared to pay top whack for designer baby/toddler clothes - despite the hype.
  13. Up baker street without a paddle was much funnier
  14. Britain's banks are forecast to report bumper profits of more than ?42bn for 2007 despite being forced to stomach losses caused by the credit crunch, yet many homeowners will only have repossession of their family home to look forward to.
  15. pk there are plenty of threads on this topic in the lounge.
  16. Dulwich Therapy Rooms An establishment which serves alcoholic drinks ? especially beer ? for consumption on the premises
  17. I think you can get cream for the spots from Macy's.
  18. I think I'm going to cook the White Spaghetti ala the fabulous Landcroft House blog. A satisfying place to go for some food inspiration.
  19. Thinking about: a) The growing food crisis in the developing world, largely due to unfair tariffs and subsidies plus food production switching to bio-fuels b) The oil and gas companies once again reaping record profits as consumer energy costs continue to rise (and fuel inflation) c) The Governor of the BoE speaking out against the excesses and short sighted behaviour of the city Is this the acceptable face of Capitalism if we're to retain global domination of our economy, culture and way of life or is there another way?
  20. Taking a photo might be a dangerous proposition now as this seems to be joining the list of civil liberties being eroded. I was stopped and questioned by 2 PCSO's recently when doing an innocent recce at an 'iconic' London building (not Parliament). Watch this short film: No Photography
  21. Spot on Keef!
  22. And perhaps that's why teachers in private schools weren't on strike and the general standard of education in these schools is generally far superior. So the fundamental question is surely good quality education in proper facilities should be available to all not just the privileged few. Innit? (Same arguments apply to other areas like the health system)
  23. When they're not looking, substitute the carrots for frozen Goldfish. (Apologies to animal lovers, anglers and vegetarians)
