  1. Interesting Hugenot. I wouldn't have a problem with a blanket 20mph speed limit in all urban places*. When it is broken (as invariably it would be), hopefully it wouldn't be by too much, thus saving lives. *and get rid of the blessed speed bumps.
  2. An historic wall sign I noticed on the coach entrance to the Oglander Arms (or whatever it's called these days). I've walked past hundreds of times and it never registered before: Gentlemen are requested not to commit a nuisance against the wall. [pointing finger sign] urinals
  3. Keef, you are a darling. It wasn't the one I remember, but it will do!
  4. Hear, hear. It was rather heartening to see a good word said for the place and by a parent who cares.
  5. Probably about six months ago. I think it may have been Mamoraman but I did a search with him as author. Can't remember the ads, though one may have been for beer (that could be wishful thinking). Don't waste too much time, not that important!
  6. Could you help me find a thread please - don't want to start a new one. It was about old painted advertisements on street walls but my search returned nothing. Thanks.
  7. I'm very expansive after extending myself over several pints on LL.
  8. Got to level 8 and decided not for me. Too frustrating.
  9. My friend bought me a rather delish sparkling rose from Nicolas last week - perfect for supping on summer evenings in the garden: Cremant de Loire
  10. Ted Max, you are DrunkMummy and I claim my 25 shillings.
  11. Tis good. How about a link to the Horniman since it's on the same bus route?
  12. Are the stars out tonight? - Dean Martin
  13. Avoid all gold covers (except Charlie Higson); avoid all pastel covers (except Jane Austen); avoid all scantily dressed ladies covers (except Alistair MacLean): everything else should be ok (except if recommended by Metro).
  14. I often have wild hair, am frequently claret-abusive - you see, I should be working there.
  15. Help me out then, FO, been stuck on level 5 all day. Seriously p****** me off.
  16. "Chinooks" Oddly enough, my one and only perk when I was at the MOD, was a trip in a Westland up the Thames. Wasn't frightened one bit and absolutely loved it. Just planes then.
  17. Oooh, Mr Sean, wounded to the quick - I spend half my time happily browsing round second-hand Christian book shops! I like Chener's: would like it even more if he employed me there. What could be finer than working in the middle of loads of books? Am loving the Biggles/Emil & the Detectives/Jennings/etc on display at the moment.
  18. I need help. Anyone played "Something in his way"? I can't even get past level two despite typing everything I can think of in the address space. Suspect my brain doesn't cope with lateral things. something in his way IGNORE above - finally cracked it.
  19. Free the East Dulwich One.
  20. Martin Lewis is currently preparing a document on parking charges. It might be worth keeping an eye on his website in a month or so: moneysavingexpert.com
  21. Worms. Flying. Dentists.
  22. According to my informant, she was sitting outside a pub on LL and jumped up and announced to a passer-by: "Excuse me, I'm not trying to sell you anything, I just wondered if I could have a light please?" Followed by self-congratulatory laughter. Not that I'm a snitch, you understand.
  23. whoops - but shouldn't that be micraban?
