  1. Do vote for your 'Pride of Place', which does include the Dulwich Picture Gallery as an option. I won't bore you with too much vitriol, but just say I'll be supporting Dulwich because while every other community in the Borough has at least one option (Borough, Bankside, Bermondsey, Rotherhithe, Peckham, Nunhead, Walworth, Elephant, Dulwich), my beloved Camberwell has not one. Typical. Vote for Pride of Place here.
  2. I do agree to an extent. But when there is little concenus, aren't you simply re-drawing and redefining community to suit?
  3. There's truth in it Alan. If it would aid wider Camberwell for your little Village to re-open to full traffic, I suspect your street would vote against the 'community'.
  4. I think he did take aim at The Council and Network Rail. He showed them to be disorganised, bound up in red tape, out of touch, poorly equiped intellectually, etc.
  5. True. But it was an opinion piece, not an exhaustive, objective study of local governments and community conhesion. I thought it raised interesting points. And he's in the middle of it so he spoke from his daily experience, like opinion writers do. He's spot on about Camberwell and Southwark. Spot on.
  6. Oh I think the principle is universal. Camberwell is a tale of many cities, not a joined up 'community'. Why do you think community groups here languish in inertia land?
  7. Oh marvelous. Terriby unattractive bloke isn't he? I fully expected our dear Dale to be all over this. Has he taken holiday?
  8. Anyone catch the article in The Guardian today by Peter Preston. He lives 'round here you know. Not sure if it is online.
  9. I'm not sure the winning strategy is to ignore those who don't agree with you, though I think Lady J Jones follows the same play book. Perhaps that explains the Greens lack of progress in winning elections. Anyway, what policies would you support (along with your other five party members holding office across the whole of the UK) to punish big bad business?
  10. Yes Jones is a farce to be reckoned with on the local political scene. And a terribly rude woman. If she's your role model it does rather explain a lot. Good luck with the campaign. I will give you this plug: for those voters wanting to pay even more tax to give to those who already scrounge off our beloved system, your party is the right choice and who better to represent it than someone who has lived off the system for so very long. Vote early and often folks.
  11. I fear watching Bargain Hunt makes me sad. Judging covers of books is something we all do. Our covers appear particularly poor.
  12. I'm indulging myself in the most inane daytime television whilst nursing a severe cold. The Americans are right aren't they? We have the most atrocious teeth. Bargain hunt? Spend the money at the dentist please.
  13. Oh goodness no I didn't! Brilliant. I hope this doesn't mean she won't be running for office. I do believe our 40 year investment may start to pay off now.
  14. Chav? Wake up dear. It's nearly noon.
  15. I started to ask on that 'other' thread but feared the dreaded Lounge. Chav, are you still intending to bring your vast experience in management of large scale budgets and huge constituencies to bear and run for political office?
  16. Not really Chav. I reckon we should all vote Lib Dem! Marvelous. Aren't you impressed?
  17. This is highly entertaining. East Dulwich argues over whether to have an M&S or Cafe Nero and when the Council gives you all a full refurb of the Leisure Centre, you act miserable. Did you realise in the full Leisure battle the folks of Camberwell had to march in the streets in hopes of getting 20% of the budget you all are getting? Poor Camberwell sits in the shadows of millions pumped in all around them and get the least of any Leisure Centre. You all, thanks to having Lib Dems hell bent on punishing Labour in Camberwell, get a full monty. And your response: 'oh...alright...will it inconvenience us?...' I'm not complaining. I honestly just find it delightfully humourous.
  18. Chave I know many a hardened soul who tried your route during the 60's. They won't be interested in joining your revolution, though some may still hold a flicker and finance it, as they are now quite minted. You see they learned early in life the hard truth about championing the poor classes. As soon as you sound your battle cry for revolution you'll note they are idling about and not terribly keen on making the effort. They, like you, find it better to live off the rest of us.
  19. Close off Camberwell Grove to thru traffic. What?
  20. Ah yes. Them. Did you know they own most of the property on and around Camberwell Green? I forget where I read it but they do. I've even seen their signs but have never really investigated who they are. Any clues?
  21. Yes we're very eclectic and peace loving. Chav's world of rich bad poor good is a bit simplistic isn't it? Perhaps you are right about the Western world's general pillaging, though I think you leave out all the good bits we've contributed. Of course that's not the purpose of far left website fodder. Besides, it seems to me in piecing together what I can of your life Chav, you've been anything but exploited. Indeed you've exploited a system to provide you with plenty.
  22. If we're fair, it's doled (oops) out in equal measure. Tim Nice But Dim v Vicky Pollard.
  23. I feel much more relaxed now that we're lounged. Have a go, Chav. I'm feeling kind hearted.
  24. Of course you are correct Mrs BJ but do give poor Alan a pass. He is infected with 'Camberwell-ism', which is a condition whereby dozens of folks shout from the sidelines and debate the issues ad naseum but never do anything. You'll have noted some of that with the recent needle bru-ha-ha in East Dulwich. I'm equally guilty, though I point out I knew the outcome, knew it was right and simply stated my own personal wish, despite knowing it was in vain. Read over on the chat boards in Camberwell. It's a hoot. Everybody has all the answers but no one ever does anything. Oh I do beg your pardon on the Baths folks. They did manage a delightful turnout and have saved the day it appears. I say they should just all move to ED. You all have far more do-ers and you're getting millions for your Leisure Centre first time lucky! As for my ongoing fued with Chav, I'll simply make this mature comment in hopes of ending it. She started it!!!!
  25. What joy! I'm delighted for her. I, too, would dance with glee if given a free flat with garden in Camberwell Grove at the young age of 19, just for having a baby. I'm honestly happy she's able to drive her car more easily - a key plank, no doubt, of the Green Party. It's a joyful day for all. Well done, the road is open.
