Love songs for your babies...
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to gwod's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Mine is probably popular with a lot of parents but its: The first time ever I saw your face I thought the sun rose in your eyes And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave To the dark and the empty skies The first time ever I kissed your mouth I felt the earth move in my hands Like the trembling heart of a captive bird That was there at my command my love The first time ever I lay with you I felt your heart so close to mine And I knew our joy would fill the Earth And last, and last, and last till the end of time The first time ever I saw your face. And I did absolutely love him when I first saw his little face on the monitor when I had my scan. He had funny little ways even in the womb and I remember thinking " This baby is my son, I am going to be his mummy" and it was the best feeling ever. I love him so much that I even steal kisses from him when he is sleeping, he is just SO adorable....well, got to make the most of it before the terrible twos hit! -

Bad nappy rashin newborn please help!
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
No wipes, just water, nappy off time, change nappy brand and use lots of Bepanten as sudocrem can be harsh, if it is terribly bad, apply a small amount of metanium. -
Hope everything sorts itself out, thinking of you xx

Congrats on the newest addition! I spotted my son's tongue tie at a week old. Funny enough it was on my to do list when I counted his fingers and toes, but in my drugged haze after labour I did not check. ( I put it on my to do lists because I know so many babies born with tongue tie and people are not aware of it). My son used to gag so much when feeding, and I knew something was wrong. I checked his tongue and he had quite a bad tongue tie. Showed my midwife who agreed, and they said I would have to wait until my son was 6 months before he could go to the tongue tied clinic to have it snipped. I did not want to wait that long and struggle with feeding him and his gagging, so I begged and hassled and he got his tongue snipped at 4 weeks old, in hindsight it was probably too young because he had an infection a week later and ended up in hospital for a few days ( we thought it was a UTI but it was confirmed the infection was probably from having his tongue snipped). He came on leaps and bounds after. My nephew was tongue tied, but as he was formula fed it was not an issue, however at the age of 13 he had his tongue snipped and is glad he did. I have to say I had no problems with sore breasts etc because I slapped on the lanisoh non stop from the moment I started breast feeding, so whereby they were just tender from having a baby on them for hours on end, they soon toughened up and breastfeeding was not painful ( apart from a few lumps which I had to massage out, ouch ouch!!) but I never needed treatment for anything breast related so do try and slap on the lanisoh asap and constantly. Hope it gets sorted.

Pampers Baby Dry - chemical burn?!
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to willjac's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Pampers and Huggies did the same to my son, we switched to moltex and toujours from Lidl. I had to use metanium and lots of bepanthen plus nappy off time/no baby wipes to clear it. Hopre it clears up soon, poor little mite. -
Congratulations on your bouncing baby boy! So pleased you managed to avoid an induction, I had one and never again!! I hope your tear does not cause you too much discomfort, I had a third degree episiotomy tear, so I know the discomfort. I found salty baths excellent, despite half the midwives telling me to avoid salty baths and the other half encouraging me to take salty bath ( the consultant said salty baths are great to aid healing). I hope someone is taking care of you so you can spend the first few weeks sleeping and adjusting to the new addition ruling the house!

Recycling. Do you want us to or not?
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to indiej25's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I would not go as far as it won't happen again because they do it quite often on my road, I do take photos and complain, they apologise, then a month goes by and it happens again. A losing battle. -
Did a cervical sweep work for you?
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to KateW's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I had one and it did not work, baby ended up two weeks late, had an induction and he still refused to come out, in the end he was forced out by ventouse delivery. I believe a baby will come when he wants (or else he is forced out by c section/ventouse). -
Experiences of 3d/4d scans
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to Sally81's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I loved it, absolutely loved seeing my cutie pie with his strange little ways, it made it feel all the more real that there was a baby growing inside. Gave me something to cling to when he was two weeks overdue! I love them and would get it done again. We had the video too, it was so cute watching him wriggle and squirm. -
Mother and Baby Outfits?
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to Saffron's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My son is a year old, I definitely feel like he is me, I am him, we are together 24/7. He takes up all of my thoughts and time, and everything single thing I do is planned around him. My facebook page is for me, and on my facebook has friends and family all over the world who absolutely love seeing my son change from month to month, He is after all not a baby for long, and we all want to enjoy seeing him grow into a little independant person. The vast amount of my friends and family on my facebook also have their babies as their profiles ( even the males!!) and I love seeing the photos, I know what my friends and family look like so I do not need their photo on their profile. Different folks, different strokes! -

Normal indeed, my son was never off the breast for more than an hour or two until he was around 9 months and interested in solids. -

wind in a 9 week old
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to Helen GV's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My son has awful awful wind, I remember months of winding him, lack of sleep, the non stop crying. I dreaded feeding him because I knew it would be hours of crying, winding, for him to bring up the wind and then we start all over again. Infacol was the only thing that eased it, we had to use it fairly often throughout the day and I remember it took a good few weeks before it worked but it did cut down the time of winding him. Good luck, I know how stressful it is! -
Recommendations for toddler gloves/mittens?
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to Emski's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My gloves came today and was very easy to put onto my son. He loves it because he was still free, the mittens was a no go because he could not use his fingers. -

Recommendations for toddler gloves/mittens?
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to Emski's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I just ordered some magic gloves for my boy, magic gloves they are called and they stretch. I know he would refuse mittens because he likes going around touching everything so these seemed good. Magic Gloves -

Nothing works for my son, and though I had used olive oil before and it did nothing, I thought I would try olive oil again which I left to soak , and then I gently massage all the dead skin off, I did circular motions with my fingertips, and it all came off and never came back!

Andrew Wakefield - MMR
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to ladywotlunches's topic in The Family Room Discussion
On this site you are either for and against, if you question the MMR or any vaccinations, they think you are against it. It is a crime on this forum to ask questions when it comes to vaccinations. Like you my son has been vaccinated though not on the NHS timescales but on our timescale with support from my GP. As a concerned parent who wants to do the very best by the most precious thing in my life, my son, I like to question everything , more so when it comes to his health and possible long term problems. I really do not see the issue in more researches, and more options. At least we are taking an interest. Science also changes with time and more information, you can see that in past treatments/advice that no longer apply today. We have more vaccinations now than we ever did...is it a crime to ask what the possible problems this may cause in the future and if there are ways of preventing these problems? -
Andrew Wakefield - MMR
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to ladywotlunches's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Taper, plenty more about the role of Th1/Th2 on lots of websites including wikipedia, just because he is a 'Quack' when it comes to some things does not mean he does not know how the body works, the immune system is very complex, and there is no way the medical profession knows how it work completely, thus they cannot say it does not cause any knock on problems ( auto-immune disorders) if they know everything about the immune system I think we would have cures for these disorders but alas, most literature will confirm the immune system is highly complex. -
Andrew Wakefield - MMR
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to ladywotlunches's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The body, especially the skin is a good outlet for rejecting anything foreign in the body, so I think that babies with eczema after having their jabs is a side effect of the body dealing with the vaccinations. I would like more research into this. This is a good read: HOW IT ALL WORKS Vaccinations are usually effective in preventing an individual from manifesting a particular illness, but they do not improve the overall strength or health of the individual nor of the immune system. Instead, vaccinations modify the reactivity of the immune system, decreasing acute discharging inflammatory reactions and increasing the tendency to chronic allergic and auto-immune reactions.
