  1. BBW are you sure uve not many of those mentioned? ;-)

  3. This extra crossing at Somerfield "idea" has popped up many times over the years... why has it not gone through? What were the arguments for and against? I really can't see how "road safety" would be improved by placing a silly crossing at this point. Placing a crossing on a bend (however slight it is) is a ridiculous idea. Large vehicles already have enough trouble passing each other on this stretch when trying to navigate around parked cars/delivery vans. Pushing cars to park further up or down the road wouldn't solve the problem - it would still be there where drivers can't see around properly creating the same risk of people suddenly popping across the road or the possibility of bumping other cars. As it is many pedestrians ignore the already existing crossings down the lane and either stroll across the road at any clear point or appear from no where with out any thought for drivers and have the view "well drivers should drive more carefully". Maybe we should just make Lordship Lane a pedestrianised area and be done with all the bother! Well, if the council can come up with such wonderful ideas I don't see why I can't! ;-) Where are the Somerfield Lorries planning on unloading if this plan gets the go ahead? Ashborne isn't wide enough to accommodate large vehicles. As to the raised tables - do they ever work? Can the council provide accurate reports of their successfulness in other areas which would make it worth while? I mean REAL reports. With mention of the scheme to improve "pedestrian/cycling road safety" - excuse my ignorance but where is there any mention or suggestion that cyclists would be more safer on the roads? Also, "During 2007 a walking audit of this area was carried out by Southwark Living Streets together with council engineers..." are we not now in 2009? Surely this would make any study now seriously out of date? Yes, it's easy to say "it's always been like that" but how many residents (given numbers of newcomers in this space of time) can really say what it's "always been like" which could be used in a proper survey? In recent times in various surrounding areas plenty of traffic/road adjustments or road works have affected the area meaning more cars are using the roads (main and back streets). Has this been taken into consideration? What would the effects be to other areas in return? Yet more congestion and complaints I'm sure.

  5. I'm quite curious what the "experiment" is... I know a fair number of males who would gladly donate their bodies to science :))
  6. If you're not as high tech as that and still use Paint to view/edit pics you can adjust the size of the pic by selecting "Image-stretch/skew" and resizing the horizontal and vertical stretch by 50 a couple of times then re-saving the pic. :)-D
  7. Agree with the ignore button idea. It would be much easier than having to report nuisances to admin...
  8. Sorry Admin I meant only to establish the type of ice we are dealing with - more dangerous on our ED roads as it can't be easily seen :))
  9. now now Horsebox... what colour is the ice in question?

    Ask Admin

Macker I sometimes experience the same kind of thing on my mobile and not just through RSS but also general selection... Oh and the shortcut to end page doesn't exist anymore which is a costly nuisance. Just thought it worth mentioning.

  13. What to give up... hmmm... work! Oh sorry that's just wishful thinking :( *sighs and goes off to cry*
  14. It's a thing "bots" do. Not necessarily to be annoying. Can sometimes be a glitch in their coding... obviously I'm meaning the harmless bots that test things... not the stupid ones that break things ;-)

  16. Also be careful when leaving your house. garden paths are very slippery.
  17. I feel it to be my turn to report on my journey to work yesterday... Having been prepared for a long wait I arrived at a bus stop on Lordship Lane, along with many other people many of whom I assumed were not the usual bussing crowd. I waited over an hour for any bus that would get me near to the river, in that time plenty of 185s (I know I was shocked too!), 176s and P13s came... and went... completely full up. I think I counted a total of 21 buses in this time (yes bored as I was). I was lead to believe that the 40s were running but no sign of them (assumed they were starting from somewhere else but would have been nice to have had them from the plough to ease the queues all along the way) What a nice lady who kept circulating through the crowd offering hot coffee and lattes and to the nice friendly bunch who kept me amused with comments about the recycling people managing to do a collection on a day like it was when they cant do it on normal days... Having resigned myself to the thought this was a ridiculous hope that I would get anywhere I decided to find an alternative route and made my way up to Barry Road. Risking me neck... I exaggerate not! From there I thought if I could get any bus to Peckham I'd be sorted. Strange enough (as mentioned in other posts) no 12s were running from that part but the 363 was on a nice diversion and picked us us. And onwards to Peckham I went getting quite close with the other passengers on a busy bus (something I'd rather like to forget). Arriving in Peckham I risked me life trying to steadily make my way through the wonderfully neglected pavements on the main road avoiding slipping and sliding like those around me making way to a bus stop. It was a long and painful activity! After a bit of a wait (nothing in comparison to my earlier cold and wet wait. Picked up a 12 and slowly got over to Westminster going through Camberwell where again I saw plenty of 185s and 176s. Almost at my intended destination when I received a call from my office saying that if I was really having trouble getting in then I may as well go home... haha not a chance after all this! And so, I arrived at my destination with only a 10 minute walk, in normal circumstances, in front of me. 10 minutes? 10 minutes! More like half an hour - how nice of Westminster to clear the walk ways. After battling past parliament and side streets I slid my way up the path and into work. Total travel time... 3 hours :)) Boss decided, after my regular updates of my journey, that it would probably be advisable to close the office early so that we would all get home at a reasonable time. Caught the 12 back within minutes of arriving at the stop, arrived in Camberwell 20mins later and jumped on a 176 very quickly... got home in 45 mins in total (better than most days!). Have to say in all my journeying not once did I see a 40... I am sure they existed but well... u know...
