  1. Doesn't Timothy Spall's son live around here - I've seen him in Franklins. Seen Michael Palin in Dulwich Village - not seen Ewan McGregor though.
  2. Get a Roma Card - free travel for two days plus free entrance to two popular tourist destinations - can google it. Would recommend the Pantheon, but lovely just to wander around and get the vibe of the city - esp good this time of year as not too hot. Also be aware that the metro stops ridiculously early at night - 10.30 or 11.00 so best not to stay where you need it to get home.
  3. I thought normal people drank Swiss, German and Austrian wine, loved spiders and snakes and read Proust - but obviously not!
  4. But Louisa - where have you been - not somewhere at her Majesty's pleasure I hope :)) PS - I've missed your unique attitude - I might not always agree with you but you usually bring a smile to my face
  5. I keep finding little bags of poo (at least they have been bagged) - sometimes on the wall of my front garden,(nice touch that), or in the gutter. Perhaps we need more bins to encourage people to use them.
  6. Have a brilliant holiday and anyone who can't do without an internet forum for a couple of weeks needs to get out more!
  7. I prefer snakes.
  8. "If someone is irrationally phobic of hights or spiders etc, you wouldn't demand that all buildings become one story, or we round up all the spiders, you would tell the effected people to use some kind of therapy to overcome their phobia" A fear of dogs is surely NOT irrational. These fears cannot really be compared to a fear of dogs. Dogs have been known to attack human beings, therefore it is only sensible to show caution when an unknown dog approaches.
  9. Child not in it much and not particuarly annoying. Perhaps your co-worker has had her own flashforward and seen a bigger part for her in future episodes.
  10. Maybe if he'd been a bit more careful in which US state he had done this act in it might not have even been illegal. It was morally corrupt and obviously Polanski thinks himself a bit above the mores and morality of normal unartistic mortals. By the way how old was Mandy Smith when Bill Wyman got his claws into her?
  11. Bizzy - the whole point is tha there already IS the Peckham Cinema with the mainstream offerings, it sounds like this cinema would compliment that by showing a different kind of film (not necessarily better to all tastes - but different). As you say: "The Peckham Multiplex is of a standard quality with all the basic amenities and accessibility. Tickets range from ?5.50 - 6.50." But that is not what everyone wants.............
  12. SteveT Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Did you know that if you invite your lover to live > in your home, within only 6 months, they have > rights to your property. Where does this information come from, and are there ways around it such as paying rent so that there is an economic agreement rather than a purely romantic one?
  13. No-one goes into marriage thinking it will end (or very few do) but many marriages do indeed end in divorce, however determined the parties might have been that it would last for ever. In second or further marriages where (a) there may be considerable assets which might have accrued to one partner before the marriage and (b) having already been divorced the parties are more aware that shit happens, they just seem to be common sense.
  14. Ricky Gervais, Sian Williams and Bill Turnbull from BBC Breakfast, Lewis Hamilton and his simpering girlfriend for starters.
  15. Someone told me that when there were two pools one was for the nobs and the other was for the workers!! Can anyone confirm?

  17. People who push in front of me because obviously their time is more important than mine. People who should loudly into their mobiles so that I am forced to hear their mind-numbing news. People with personalised number-plates. People who wear sun-glasses indoors. People who pay for items under ?5 by card.
  18. Has anyone been to the German Christmas Markets and if so would they recommend?
  19. I certainly agree with Lard that there is a lot of posturing and a holier than thou attitude amongst many of the cloth bag carriers. They have been charging for plastic bags and offering 'bags for life' on the continent for years without all this 'aren't we wonderful' stuff.
  20. Was it Gateways or Safeway? Where the large William Hill is was a Co-op supermarket (or that might have gone by 1994)
  21. Lordship Lane Carpets was Douroufs Carpets.
  22. Nicolas was an antique shop at some point - same owners as Melbourne Antiques, and Moos used to be an T-Mobile shop at some point (but not sure if it was in 1994).
  23. cate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Chap in the Cheese Block confirmed to me that > Chopsticks is turning into a South Indian > vegetarian restaurant. If true that would be great.
  24. Forest Hill zone 3 - East Dulwich zone 2. And loses the battle of the Sainsbury's - ours is pretty bad but the Forest Hill one is vile (and charges for its car park) Herne Hill has Number 22 which is fab, and far better transport links and I am glad that I can walk there and enjoy its facilities but prefer ED. If I had to move to an adjacent area I'd choose Crystal Palace - thus ignoring the zone 2 zone 3 argument above.
