  1. I never went in there just knew they didn't last long. Now I probably know why.
  2. Just to say there was a lingerie shop where William Rose the butchers is now and I think it lasted about 3 months. Good luck with your venture whatever you decide to do.
  3. I haven't been since it's changed its name but Beauberry house does LOOK nice http://www.beauberryhouse.co.uk/
  4. I don't know if it is just media rubbish but weren't there reports of the filth inside the house including dog (and was it also human) faeces on the floor? Surely that would be neglect even if not cruelty and why should any child be condemned to be brought up in such filth and squalour. I appreciate that social work is a hard job (I had a probation officer as a lodger once and his stories of his average day filled me with horror), but no-one is forced to do it.
  5. I've heard Purple Sprouting can be a bit high-maintenance.
  6. I thought that you were planning what to do sometime early January.
  7. Millions Little Miss Sunshine Guys and Dolls Breakfast at Tiffanies Trading Places
  8. I was rather prosaically waiting at the gym for my class to start - but I did note the time as the previous class was running late.

Bizzy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > I'm certain this alternative cinema will have a > certain audience - a cinema like the Multiplex > would serve the local area in a broader way with > films such as Hannah Montana and Geforce rather > than Coco Channel (wrong spelling eh?). But surely ANY cinema would serve a larger audience than one church would? After all cinemas are open to all, no matter what religion you follow or not. If it is an original Art Deco cinema it would be fantastic to have it restored and to appreciate it when going to watch a film. If it was an evangelical church then I, and most of the people I know, would feel uncomfortable going inside just to look at the architecture and decor. I do however find it slightly ironic to see a campaign supporting the opening of a cinema in CP when it wasn't that long ago that I was amongst those marching from Leicester Square to Downing Street to PREVENT a UCI Multiplex opening.
  10. Bike might be quickest but the OP did actually state 'public transport'. I would hate to go by bike - I use commuting as a time to read and as a bit of 'me' time.
  11. Just to say thank you to the generous people in Underhill Road who have books out for the taking (if you are forumites) - it's a lovely idea and I look forward to reading mine.
  12. Lovely pics - must find the time to go there this weekend and enjoy.
  13. The Rieslings I brought home vary from 8% to 12.5% - the 8% is a lovely bottle to drink at lunchtime. Some Aussie reds are 15% and I've sampled one at 16%. It was not as strong to taste as you would think but I am sure that it would give a hangover. The Alsace is great isn't it? We end up bringing enough wine home to avoid the local off-licenses for several weeks - and the Mosel is even better value.
  14. Cannabis in rum from Barbados - then you have cannabis infused rum and when you've dried the leaves out you have rum-infused cannabis - not done by me but by my ex fil.
  15. Is there any other activity that can bring on despondency and suicidal thoughts quicker than attempting to buy a popular ticket online. After 30 minutes of staring at a screen attempting to buy tickets for tomorrows play at Edgbaston I have resorted to slugging wine like lemonade and if I still smoked I would probably be on my 2nd packet. Is it just me or is it one of life's least rewarding tasks?
  16. Clowns are frightening to some people because you cannot see their faces or their expressions - the make-up becomes a mask which could possibly hide a multitude of sins - JMO!
  17. I go to a cashpoint at midday and find ?100 (as if) - I shout out - hoy has anyone just not picked up their ?100 from the cashpoint - how many people will claim it as theirs? I would reckon at least 85% of people who heard me.
  18. An Riesling is unlikely to be more than 12% alcohol max - probably more like 11%. A cheap Aussie red might be anything from 13.5% upwards.
  19. Don't know if this is relevant but when my partner's niece and her boyfriend (both just 18 at the time) came to stay, the pubs around here were very hot about asking their ages and getting proof before they sold them alcohol (they look younger) which their home town doesn't do. Might just be worth remembering if your teenage brother is around the drinking age 'cusp'.
  20. It's only a 10 minute walk at the most and quicker than by car in rush hour.
  21. Last time I tried the library (end of June) the entire Southwark Library Network was down and had been for several weeks - however it might be worth trying again. The video shop is not bad as internet cafes go.
  22. But surely 'proper Pizza/Pasta joint' and 'Pizza Express or a Zizzi' are a contradiction in terms!
  23. From what I know of Paedophiles (and sadly I have had to come across one or two) they are not taking photos of children fully dressed in parks, they are not sitting in parks watching children play. The photos they want to take are very different. Although I don't have children I understand that parents get concerned, however there are far more direct threats to children than a lone man who seems to be behaving strangely. I am not sure of the percentage of child abuse that occurs within the family unit but I believe it is very high - and far more children are killed on the roads than abused by strangers
  24. I think there is some sort of travel agency in the back office at Property In. Can't agree that the Ritzy is only a bit less convenient, either walk in less than 20 minutes or wait an era for the 37 - could miss the start of the film waiting for the 37 - in fact could miss the entire film if there is bad traffic in Peckham and the 37's have all got stuck.
  25. I used to think that a record shop was essential...............
