  3. Rye bread with cheddar cooked util bubbling and just starting to brown. Twist of black pepper and a dusting of paprika. Unfortunately as I'm currently on a low sats diet this pleasure is denied. However, mashed avocado on toast is proving to be a good alternative.
  4. Three of my favourite things: http://www.johnlobb.com/uk/models https://www.naimaudio.com/products http://www.merciancycles.co.uk/
  5. I quite like it also.
  6. I think the same idiot walked down Ryedale turning wheelie bins over at about 2am.
  7. Agreed.
  8. On the EDF you're only ever fives degrees away from cheese on toast.
  9. At about 7.15 last night police were handcuffing a couple of miscreants near the Tesco at the end of Rye Lane.
  10. I was run over from behind by a bus a few years ago on a bright sunny day in London. When it came to the court case both sets of barristers were obsessed with what I was wearing.. The defence that I wasn't wearing hi viz, therefore irresponsible so probably fair enough for a bus driver not to be able to see what's in front of him. The prosecution had to point out several times that I was wearing a helmet and therefore a responsible cyclist. I think it's assumed now that if you don't wear a helmet you are in some way reckless which is not the case. In that incident I've no idea if my head hit the pavement or not but I think on balance it's better that I was wearing a helmet.
  11. It actually doesn't take much of a knock on the head to cause a serious head injury. So I do wear one (mostly). I think most kids growing up now are probably just used to wearing a helmet so I don't think it will discourage cyclists of the future. I remember my dad taking terrible umbridge at being forced to wear a seat belt, but nobody even thinks that way now. On balance as an ambassador for cycling it wouldn't do any harm for him to wear a helmet on tv no matter what he personally believes.
  12. Have you emailed Tony? If it's unsafe you don't need a general clamour. They'll fix it.
  13. Email [email protected] He's the cemetery wall guru.

  15. Anyway, haven't got a clue what this thread is about but the Grove was a lovey pub till its make over ten or more years ago, and I saw the Italy England match there in 97/8 when we qualified for the World Cup. Me too.
  16. Might have been longer than a day.. But not long. Doesn't really matter.. Still a good claim to fame and another reason why it must reopen as a pub.
  17. The Grove was brilliant for football in the little bar. It's where I saw most of Italia 90, inc the gutting semi final. Bob Mortimer, Vic Reeves, Robbie Coltrane, Joe Jackson all popping in. I remember a couple of brilliant Christmas Eve sing songs with everyone belting out carols.

  19. I think Byron only actually went there for about a day.
  20. Time Out has always been uneasy about our neck of the woods. Every review used to begin with 'In an area otherwise bereft of good eateries...' And then give an average review to something.
  21. He and Liz must have strolled through Cox's walk for a livener at the Grove.
  22. Could there be some sort of spreadsheet on the forum where people could leave feedback (say 1-5 stars) and a short comment like eBay feedback? It would mean just one entry per tradesman or business and avoid endless threads like the one about a certain plumber.
