As we all lnow the cost of going out is about 10% actual alchohol - unless you are living the "crystal life" at chynawhites- and the other 90& is taxi / kebab / cigs / on the spot fines for uriniating in a public place etc etc
-
IN reailty, the price if drinks is irrelevant to most. The perception is a different matter If you go out and drink 10 pints a night at ?2.50 and suddenly move to the Bishop as yer local and pay ?3.50, then thats ?70 a week difference But no one on this board is in that league I think. 3-5 pints a couple of times week - maximum - thats about ?10 a week tops - the price of a taxi back from London bridge or a sushi & salad at pret - its nothing for most people - is a small houswarming " gift" from a tat shop on LL or a piece of decent meat for 2 at William Rose. Pubs charge what they can , because once they have their market sorted, they know the boundaries of their greed. Usually. as I said, you dont pay for the drink usuallym b=you opay for brand/ location and enviroment. otherwise we would all sit in the playground drinking Buckfast on a saturday night
-
Bex Is an good example for comparison tho' - the stuff you buy in the pubs is the same you buy at Sainsbos - Its everywhere and like God & Jesus , Omnipresent and non variable quality.

Yes, but its still Guinness. urgh

Most People are *not* bothered about a quid either way on drinks these days, unless its a weatherspoons which sells itself on a number of bottom line factors including price. I think Lowenbrau is about ?3 a go in Inside72 - I would probabaly pay ?4 or ?4.50, but baulk at the magical ?5 I recently paid ?3.75 for a small 250ml Becks in the city - which only struck me as extreme, as I pay ?8.99 for a case of 20 for home use - like 45p each. Theres a lot of money slopping around that people seem eager to spend on going out, sometiems to the detriment of other things they need to service. YOu are not really paying for beer in a pub - unless its a micro brewery or has something utterly stunning - you are paying for the atmos. and the brand / location / whatever.

I am waiting for someone to use " investing in the community" with relation to a shop in this thread. then all the boxes will have been ticked. anyone ?

I prefer "high horse"

Thanks for the PM Laura, but please dont bother with any more.I have standards. Im surprised you could be arsed to respond to what was a blatant goad. Do what you want with your profits Laura - Charity contributions are an eay way to sleep at night - especially if its got positive tax implications for you. YOu may fool some of the mugs in ED, but however you dress it up, your statement is mealy mouthed easily digestable toss. In it for the money as supergrass once sang. Never forget that.

Grrrrrrrrr and england being handed a finals place on a plate, despite being rubbish what a weekend

Ethos Organic regeneration recycled benefit of employees Well that a few boxes ticked. A nice bit of PR for your company. You have plenty of front I'll grant you that. Pardon me for being cynical, but your statement reads like a flyer for war on want or one of thoses leafets crammed through the door by the Lithuanian clothes collectors. Still, you will do well here - lots of victims aching to blow their lot. Like your clothes, this doesnt wash.( I have no idea of this is true of course, but I had to end on a pun of some kind!) I will expect a brick throgh my window in the next day or two - I live at 15 LL btw. You cant miss me.

Parking Problems when shopping on the Lane?
snorky replied to SeanMacGabhann's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Actually, they should make ED easier for parking - Its SO difficult to park on Ashboune grove now with the dropped kerb frenzy and what little spaces are left are too small for my black Merc 4x4 / Company Volvo v90 / Range rover / Audi Q8 ( or whateve this monstrosity is called ) especially when the snorklets are playing up after pianao class and refuse to be pacified by their monekty music CD until they have had their mon petit chou babychino fix. -
Dont mean to be flippant, but if it was a scumitsu mp3 player, they probabaly would not have bothered Blinder- you are right up to a point, there has always been bullying etc, but kids now have so much recognisable trophy "stuff", they are an easy target- a relatively riskless way to obtain an object of fetish
-
all thieving is wrong but its understandable- this isnt a justification - when we effectively teach kids to fetish manufactured commodities by means of advertising and marketing, then the profits made by the manufacturers, distributors and retailers are going to be offset somehwere down the line, usually at the lowest common demoninator - the end user. We know about Telly power, but its much more subtle than that - its permeated down to toddlers by their environment, their peers and their parents- perhaps unwittingly When parents support his whole parasitic industry by buying into the brand & using the kids as a means to display their relative wealth, with the accumumulation of ostentatious labels , then they help to reinforce this problem. You want trainers. YOu are not Mikey Jordan - then there is not justification in paying ?100+ for trainers that are basketball designed. Why an Ipod ? Why not a scumitsu mp3 player - they do the same job, but one costs 10 times as much Dont get me started on the Ifones. The middle classes are invariably comfortably employed in the industries that waere spawned by this explosion of in yer face consumption - the advertisers/ marketers/ merchanising professionals - but bleat about the growing gap between the have / have nots typified by these street muggings and suchlike and fear for their kids safety Shopping is now classed as a leisure activty by the UK population - its hard to believe this isnt it - buying things as something to do at the weekend - beats going to a park or a museum anyway. YOu/We created this monster, but refuse to accept that its all our collective responsibilty - its easier the blame the perpetrators of the crime than to look at the true malaise behind this ( over hyped )rash of anti social behavior bah!

I had told mrs Snorky that we will be taking the snorklets out that day. I dont know where or why, but it will probabaly last until at least bedtime. My Phone will be turned off and the car radio will utilised for the playing of enedless childrens music CD's I cant face it.

Judging by the response Mrs Snorky got last time shes was in WR, I would suspect the thread will have to be translated into strip cartoon format for the WR staff to take in *runs away*

Theyre vermin - dont give in

Its not a fine, its an "invoice" - they are claiming you accepted a contrat regarding park in their manor and breached the terms - its a civil offence at worst, not a criminal one. the key here is that as the registered owner of the car, you are not liable for the actions of wheoever war driving the car at the time - the car itself cannot be taken to court, as it isnt able to make a considered decision as whether to acvcvepted the contract terms or not Unless they have a pic of you in the car , then under human rights legislation, you are under no obligation to name a driver or indeed give any information that may incriminate yourself They have to prove that YOU entered the contract. The registered owner isnt liable for the actions of the driver at the time. admit nothing, state you were not the driver and tell them to get f*cked- they cannot take the registerd owner to civil court - they have to prove you were alos the driver. also, they may threateen higher fines etc if you dont pay within etc etc - punitive awards are not allowed , they can only take you to court for "loss" - this is remarkably hard to prove make sure you reply by registyered mail deying you were the driver and requsting that they desist form hassling you again. if they do, get the filth in for harrassment they will likely send escalating demands out - none of which are enforceable
-
Its likely near unenforceable if its a private ticket. Ive had a handful from lidl and theyre all rubbish if you know your stuff got a pic of it to help us ?
