  1. Boutique baby-changing facility (with incorporated bar and restaurant).
  2. I think they might be there for the summer, if the signs outside are anything to go by. They point to a summer school for the arts at Heber. So, it's either earplugs, WD40 or a word with the headteacher.

    SWine Flu?

Keep clean and carry on. Wash your mitts (including fingertips and wrists) often and in warm, soapy water. Dry well. Sneeze and cough into a paper hanky, which you then dispose of quickly and safely, or into a crooked elbow (the vampire sneeze). Keep as well as possible so as to avoid unnecessary opportunities for the virus to take hold. If you do catch it, or suspect you have, then stay off for a week and catch up on all those Brothers and Sisters/Wire/etc DVDs.
  4. I used to like them - I thought them efficient, modern and clean, but I like them less and less. The suspension is poor and the ventilation worse, which compounds the problem of the strong smell of fuel that is especially strong near the middle of the vehicle. Roll on the Routemaster replacement.
  5. Ted Max, 'When should I change my baby's nappy?', you ask. Ted, this is the EDF! The answer is, of course, when you are in a busy eating or watering hole! (See: This old chestnut)
  6. The place on Forest Hill Road, near to the Post Office is good. It charges ?9 for a dry cut with scissors, ?5 for a shaved-style cue (ie with clippers only). Plays XFM on the Bose stereo. Papers and mags to read on comfy settees whilst you wait.
  7. I got the 176 to Aldwych on W'day and spend a good ten minutes in a jam on Waterloo Road just near to the Old Vic. If you want to find out what is going on, ring 020 8636 8822 (Conway).
  8. I liked the Coriander, especially the v cold beers and the service. We went on Friday night, lured in my the '4 customers get a bottle of wine, 2 a bottle of beer'. However, we were told that there were 'terms and conditions', namely that you have to book to receive the free drink! Hmm, we said, and asked whether that it was likely that in a usually empty restaurant that proviso was fair, and suggested they comp us the drink anyway. They didn't. Mildly irritating to be on the end of such ludicrous sharp practice but the food and service was good. The beers weren't of that holiday-iciness that they should have been.
  9. If it is a warm day and you are in good shape, then strip away (but why not tuck the shirt into the back of your shorts, in a Matthew Mcgonahy (sp?) fashion for extra Grazia-points?) LuluToo thinks you are wanting to go shirt-free to win a lady. Maybe she's got sex on the brain and can't see that you might just want to run more comfortably.
  10. Used to buy the Times occasionally, but won't from now on. I realise that won't cause the demise of Mr Murdoch, but it is - quite literally - the least I can do.
  11. Hopefully at least one of the triplet Southwark Wardens/PCSOs will see it and report it to the 'cleansing team'.
  12. I am looking forward, too, if only to see how something very British will be done by a nationality linked so strongly to the un-tea (aka coffee).
  13. I think that London is a only bit less safe that it was but there is a greater degree of selfishness, rudeness and aggression. You can block some of it out, but the constant bad behaviour of children and adults, loutishness, lack of civility etc makes for an unpleasant place to live. I don't think E Dulwich is getting 'worse' but I do think that people are more aware of this lack of manners and are wanting change for the better.
  14. Ta. If anyone can post on this till about 2210 that would be a help. Thanks!
  15. Are the buses being diverted still? Is LL closed? Am coming back from work in about an hour.

    Iran

FYI, not all foreign journos have been expelled. The BBC has the resident correspondent there and a few 'fly ins' as well. The reporters and producers sent for the election had only a few days on their visas in teh first place, so had to leave when they expired. BBC Persian is worth a watch via bbcpersian.com - even if you don't understand Farsi.
  17. Gordon Ramsay or Gary Rhodes (This is a hard one. My participation in this thread does not denote a support - tacit or otherwise - of physical violence.) Cameron, obv

    Oyster fares

It will cost more to use an Oyster card on a train in London, than using it for the same journey on the tube. The London Assembly's Budget and Performance Committee heard that Oyster cards on train services in London will use a different fare structure to the tube. Instead of the zone 1-6 fares, the rail companies fare will be charged.
  19. I rang the ocuncil to get the weeds (some 3' high!) removed and wihtin a week the they'd done the job. Southwark is rather good at street cleaning and rubbish collection/recycling.
  20. Did you not see a troika of PCSOs? They are v common around these parts?
  21. I live opposite Goodrich and can say that the children are well behaved, presentable and happy. It's mixed racially and socially, but it is a large school. I occasionally see the teachers taking classes outside and the pupils are always attentive . I get the impression that G'rich was 'up' when Heber was 'down' a few years ago and that the imbalance has been levelled somewhat now.

    The Alchemist

    Mock-haughty.
  23. Also, there is no big clock at Peckham Rye ticket hall. There needs to be (an accurate, radio-controlled) one!

    The Alchemist

I only know it as a play by Ben Jonson (*sniffs*)
  25. Useful for mobiles so as not to pay more expensive O8 fees - 01709 768621
