  1. Yes Maurice... go to America, flick on a tv and as you trawl through the multitude of channels, GASP at the quality MARVEL at the variety SQUEAL with delight at the adverts every 2 minutes the programs we are talking about being good are a VERY small majority and your constant needling is really pissing me off
  2. If I can catch a 176 where people DON'T actually chuck up then I find the ride home after midnight very entertaining indeed. Far from threatening the whole atmosphere seems to be "whose place are we ALL going back to for a party"
  3. alas catgirl, if they have forked out for that many vehicles then they won't have a problem paying whatever it costs to park 'em up on the street they will still bitch mightily about the congestion charge and speeding fines however
  4. I find it fun, cheap and cheerful, especially with the right crowd It has been discussed a few times on here: you can find more at Cafe El Paso
  5. I can't imagine it would be a quick job? Driver pulls over, gets his Marigolds on, gets to work, disposes of the whole shebang (where?) By that stage most people would have gotten off anyway and found another bus - but I still agree people shouldn't be charged twice
  6. Nothing British? I thought I had Although they are "only" sitcoms I agree totally with Shameless. Fantastic for 2 seasons ("Kevus Interruptus" still raises a smile) but jumped the shark badly
  7. I can see this one headed for the lounge pretty sharpish Re: the oyster thing. That's teh very reason I ONLY buy weekly or monthly travel cards. Too many journeys stop before destination and it's a devil of a job to get drivers to recognize the fact. With a travel card it matters not a jot re: the other thing. I was on a train back from Tivertin to Exeter one evening with a friend and I notice the business man behind us was feeling the worse for wear. After about 15 mins I could tell the game was up so I told my friend to duck NOW. Just in time... I'll omit the rest because it is far too foul to repeat here. But I still think of the poor woman 2 seats further up
  8. So not only is Rock Band released (not just guitars - oh no. Now you and some friends can play drums, guitar and sing all at the same time) but they have released a Bowie pack Only thing is, classic track Queen Bitch is now called Queen ***** I mean I ask you...... if you are worried about it, pick another song but... sheesh
  9. spot on Atila. I too was embarrased by Wenger's petulance at the end as it only underlines people's impression of us as brittle Team selection was a gamble that didn't pay off but I do wonder if the only change he made was to have Senderos out and anyone else in, if that would have sufficed? Gilberto was rustier than a 1920s nail but Bendtner and Eboue both played superbly Better team won though - no question
  10. no no - the rule is people have to ASK. It's like a vampire being invited into your home... or something
  11. I'm a big fan of Scrubs.. and used to love Earl as well. But then one day... no, I can't/shouldn't spoil it for you
  12. There are many many pay TV services - very few of them produce quality. HBO differes because of it's editorial stance. No doubt some market-testing/segmentation has gone into the equation as well Quality drama has to come from somewhere. When it comes from the BBC are you suggesting that those opposed to the license fee shouldn't enjoy the output? There is nothing hypocritical about liking good writing, acting, direction... And don't be giving me the whole caring-for-the-poorest-in-society stance either young man... a) it's false and b) they have enough to worry about without bothering about TV shows And as for CWALD being Green - what has that got to do with anything?
  13. aaahh Maurice how we have missed you and the large stick you carry to stir with HBO, as part of Time Warner, is indeed "a for-profit, major US corporation" but in the world of TV and Film production it's pretty hard to avoid that these days. Not that I'm anti-profit, or US for that matter just not at the expense of other interests. Why some of us even work for a for-profit, major US corporation - but then Jesus worked for the romans ;-) As long as HBO continues to produce the quality it does then I'll be happy
  14. Jah - football can be such a cruel mistress sometimes ;-) Mike - have we got an updated list of attendees? Good point about a table for 12 in such a small place - we don't want to mess them around
  15. I understand the Nun's Head is open as well (but the Dog is our tradition - walk through the park, into the Dog, back for the food - marvellous)
  16. Found a website for TN (must be newish) if anyone wants to have a peek first PeckhamGatecrasher - I would recommend the Murgh Ki Balti to someone worried about over spicy (assuming you are not a vegetarian obviously) Tanoori Nights Menu
  17. I haven't seen the 3rd Bourne yet but loved the first two (althoug much as I like Greengrass, the 2nd film didn't feel as "right") Films that stand a chance of repeat viewing in MacGabhannTowers this Christmas Beautiful Girls - fantastic ensemble film by the late Ted Demme Before Sunrise/Sunset Fight Club (it was so not the film I was expecting/dreading) Bad Santa - seen that one about 10 times already and it's only been out a couple of years Recently enjoyed London to Brighton, The Prestige, Pan's Labyrinth, Breakfast on Pluto
  18. Heroes is building momentum nicely for the finale of season one. I suspect it will be an anti-climax but I'm enjoying the trip so far Only other highlights this year for me were Gavin & Stacey and Saxondale (with honourable mentions for The IT Crowd) What was the old ITV drama with Timothy Spall as a tout/spiv? That was good that was
  19. oops Mr literal sometimes me! yay - CWALD - you got series 3. It just gets better doesn't it?
  20. Tillie? Cross? I don't think so - a splendid woman. And I realise now it wasn't even a cross-post (it was the lounge reference that threw me)
  21. ditto Tillie (well, if I had a family, but you get the drift)
  22. Tillie - is this another cross-post??
  23. I've said all I need to say on The Wire in that thread methinks - all of it still true (technically it is on in the UK - if you have cable/sky - it's on FX)
  24. the midweek afternoon pies should be on at the weekend too IMO
  25. Ooh yes - good shout Asset. Love that film as well. I thought South West 9 (SW9?) did a much better job than Human Traffic
