  1. [ concern for the elderly in question could have been expressed without the second half of that sentence, no? Greed landlords is greedy landlords - favouritism doesn't come into it
  2. lol - nice one "slosh"
  3. Being ripped off by landlords aside, I'm quite proud of the place on Barry Rd. It's right on my doorstep and I pass by several times a day as well The asylum seekers are inevitably friendly (if they suspect you aren't one of the locals who isn't about to abuse them) and the mixture of looks in their eyes reminds me of a younger me "What the hell am I doing here and what am I going to do next?" versus "At least I'm not there anymore"
  4. but has "filming " just been invented? Humankind have worked around filming for over a hundred years.. we'll be fine macroban, just fine
  5. I didn't see the filming but I know the junction well so am struggling to see what the issue could be is all.;.
  6. "I walked past there this morning. Very irresponsible action: filming at a road junction and shutting the pedestrian crossing. Who gave permission for this dangerous activity? " is that a joke macroban? How dangerous can it be to walk a few yards a cross there?
  7. When England start to realise this and start to behave as underdogs, they will find a lot more neutrals and celtic nations take them to their hearts, I predict I haven't felt that the Republic would qualify for anything for years but I never get bothered by it - it's just nice when something does happen. But when the team plays as badly as they do (even when we were getting to quarter finals) you couldn't want us to WIN anything. It would be a travesty if Jack Charlton's philosophy won out... Of course my attitude is the very one Roy Keane rails against - but I can live with that
  8. Muttley - don't forget the whole Keef situation where his name changed for a week or so and no-one could find him either
  9. Suggestion for the music-loving folk of ED As we are likely to bump into at least several of each other before Christmas (at the Plough party for example) how about the following exchange of Christmas presents Take several CD-rs, choose 10 tracks favoured by you, burn several copies - keep available at all times should you bump into a fellow-forumite - "ah Happy Christmas, here you are"
  10. lol Tillie, I've done that as well! (and haven't seen Ratatouille, but agree about Nemo. Monsters Inc still my fave tho) "playing with the handbrake" off has entered the football manager's lexicon and I'm not in love with it. As with may euphemisms the first time it seems quite sweet and then it becomes annoying very quickly
  11. Rowanofski The black lines at the top and bottom are not really the TV's responsibility. Assuming the source is a DVD or even SKY movies, the broadcast may be 1:33, 14:3 or 16:9 - and also anamorphic. Depending on which you will still get black lines sometimes The TV will have a zoom function to erase that but it looks "wrong"
  12. to be SLIGHTLY fair to ibo, muggings and other incidents do occur. It is after all London Where we differ is, as others have pointed out, compared to other parts of London (and if you are moving here you WILL be comparing other parts of London) it's pretty good. And having made the choice to live here, in the full knowledge that bad things do happen in this world (hold the front page) it's far better for one's sanity to focus on the good things Doesn't mean we ignore bad things, just put them in their proper context. And to be frank, if this was a forum full of people baging on about every bad thing that happened, most of us wouldn't be here
  13. thats not to mention the "economic ethnic cleansing" around here ;-)
  14. lol - you're kidding LTP? It was guessed earlier anyway - I quit eliked some of the Rock Profiles - The Blur one in particular. And Duran
  15. how about Korean comedy? My Sassy Girl is pretty great as well
  16. Icitatus Very quick and very correct..!
  17. not putting pressure on anyone, but I remember a LOT of photos were taken that evening - are they going to surface?
  18. it's the one with a picture of the globe and what looks like a paper clip - hover over the icons and a little text bubble should pop up describing what it is
  19. "Jay Aston... Jay ASTON... let me tell YOU about.... JAY ASTON!!!" (if anyone knows where that quote is from there is a drink in it)
  20. good waaairk Mikhe I'm not sure I can wait till Thursday to sate my curry habit tho.... ;-)
  21. Certainly do DM! and to not put too fine a point on it I remember liking more than the jumper
  22. Existing magazines rely too much on repeat advertising to ever give an objective honest opinion Shaila - welcome to the forum... your suggestion has sparked some thoughts and I shall now ponder ;-)
  23. What a diverse spread Gigs were in short supply in Cork in the early 80s but New Order played O Connell hall in 81/82 - that was mine and I'm proud of it Mind you, my next one was Nik Kershaw so, you know, .. don't listen to me..
  24. as I mentioned it on another thread, how about some fire and brimstone The Mercy Seat - Nick Cave
  25. This MIGHT be right, but is very judgmental in any case.. and "scum"?? People make a living whichever way... Jesus made crosses for the Romans ("he was a carpenter by trade, or at least that's what I'm told"... Nick Cave)
