  1. Well it's an important part of British history, and worthy of inclusion - but they dragged it out a bit, didn't they?
  2. vesti Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > A Monster Calls - Patrick Ness, Siobhan Dowd, Jim Kay I'll second that recommendation. I don't know much about kids books, but I know about this one because Jim's a good friend of mine. It's a pretty dark subject but ultimately positive, with amazingly atmospheric illustrations...
  3. No problems at all at London Bridge this morning. Plenty of olympic volunteers telling everyone where to go, but 95% of the passengers were commuters. I didn't think national rail services would be badly affected, what I've seen so far seems to back that up.
  4. Well I guess it's good that some people didn't find it completely embarrassing.
  5. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------ > What made you cringe Jeremy? He is a disgrace for > doing what? I already said, the Rowan Atkinson section made me cringe. It was just awful. The disgraceful part is the fact that he has previously done some fairly witty comedy, but has chosen to dumb down. And this crap is put on display as representative of our country.
  6. Rowan Atkinson is a disgrace. I cringed throughout that whole sequence.
  7. could start in 2020 at the earliest Oh silly me. Sounds like a dead cert.
  8. Have you been watching your old Paul Calf videos?
  9. healey Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Agree with those who argue that it would be better > to push for the Camberwell extension to the Bakerloo Line Yes that would be great. But it's like saying that you'd rather have an Aston Martin than a Citroen. No point pushing for something which is blatantly not going to happen.

"Hi folks! This is the Mayor here." Shut up!!
  11. A mass free-for-all cross channel swim? I like the idea. Darwinism in action.
  12. He's slimmed back down to fighting weight, which has sparked all sorts of rumours. We'll see... hope he stays away. He has nothing more to prove IMO.
  13. Yeah, Harrison Price has been officially announced. I think we all expect another heavy loss for Harrison - one which will hopefully send him into retirement. Don't think Khan vs Hatton will happen. I think Ricky just wants to finish his career on a high note, and Khan is too high risk.
  14. We had a moth problem a few years ago - they chewed a big hole in our new dining room carpet! We thoroughly cleaned all the corners incluing under the furniture, put mothballs down, and used liberal amounts of Raid spray whenever we spotted one of the bastards. Seemed to do the trick.

  16. Completely unsuitable hours for a residential street. I'm amazed anyone would think this is a good idea (apart from the owner, of course).
  17. titch juicy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Nah, the pound is the strongest it's been against > the euro since the crash 3 years ago. But still significantly lower than before the crash. If you're coming from Euro-land, UK is still relatively cheap.
  18. Not a fan of Hitler, then?
  19. RosieH Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Ahem, Jeremy. Two posts above yours..? Ah, OK! Sorry, the "Hitler's Bodyguard" reference didn't ring any bells, and I didn't realise that "Yesterday" was The Yesterday Channel. I guess I don't watch a lot of TV...
  20. computedshorty - nice idea, but I'd prefer a Barclaycard-style water slide!
  21. It wouldn't make sense if the north terminal wasn't at a major central London interchange (i.e. Waterloo or London Bridge). Kings is close enough to Denmark Hill to consider it an interchange with mainline rail and Overground services.
  22. Damon Baird Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Unless you're coming from a country that has the euro! Nah, the Euro is still pretty strong against the pound.
  23. Seems perfectly understandable for a gay couple to want to meet other gay couples, in addition to their straight friends. Why don't we let the OP use the thread for the purpose it was intended for...
  24. I was referring specifically to the bakerloo line by that point. As for simply keeping the South London line - that would be great, but it seems that battle has already been lost. It is being scrapped in favour of other services, so I guess it's not logistically possible to keep it running.
