  1. Skoda Octavia estate.

  3. Erm... I don't think the EEC exists anymore...
  4. fazer, you are only supporting my point. It should be more desirable than it is. But it lacks things that Hampstead and Wimbledon village have in abundance... Places to eat, drink, and shop.

Semi-serious anyway. What is the point of a display of our former military prowess? What has that got to do with the Queen's Jubilee?
  6. About the sound - there would have been completey separate mixes for broadcast and PA, so I don't think acoustics / open-air is really an excuse. Anyway, quids is right. If it was supposed to be "good" they wouldn't have invited Cliff.
  7. Why bring out the WWII war planes? What has that got to go with anything? Is it any better than North Korea parading their tanks and rocket launchers through the streets of Pyongyang?
  8. fazer, you're right, Dulwich Village is not a retail ghetto - but there's nothing there!! One pub, a couple of bland chain restaurants, nowhere to buy food. If this is down to the Dulwich Estate, then they've screwed up big time. It's a picturesque corner of London, it should really be one of the most desirable places to live in the capital.
  9. Only saw Madness and McCartney. Madness did a pretty good job. McCartney sounded pretty ropey. But there's little point in moaning, if you're interested in seeing an interesting cross-section of what's happening in British music, the Jubilee concert is hardly the best place to look. It was only ever going to be a crowd-pleasing selection of past-their-prime hasbeens with a couple of token chart singers thrown in.
  10. Come on, let's not pretend that cinema paridiso is even close to the real cinema experience! And Brixton is not really convenient. You can't really rely on that bus at all.
  11. > William has less than half royal blood and his > children will have less than a quarter Are you suggesting that they continue to breed with their own relatives instead?
  12. Drew/stephen/terri - what makes you think that the Wetherspoons building is available?

  14. I'm absolutely positive it would be a great success. A good combination of mainsteam/indie/foregin language would work very well IMO.

  16. It would be a more interesting story if you took it back a couple of years further. I think by 2005 The Lord Palmerston had already been changed into the gastro pub we know today, and The Foresters Arms (now that was a grim pub) had already become The Bishop. The Magdala had already changed into its yellow incarnation. Adventure Bar was Inside 72. Boho was a fruit-machine place. No Black Cherry. I think Green and Blue had already opened, but the 'bar' was a small windowless room in the back of the shop.
  17. Near Dulwich College on Saturday night at around 1:45am, an ice cream van was hanging around pumping out loud house(?) music. Seemed rather odd.
  18. Although folk is not my cup of tea, I think you're doing a great job! There are precious few gig promoters who are in it for the music.
  19. To be honest The Hootenany probably isn't right for the type of thing Otta has in mind.
  20. Maybe its just the type of gig I go to which tend to be mainly younger...
  21. I don't think there's much market for it to be honest. The population is A little too old, not many 16-25yr olds
  22. If 'middle class' means a large proportion of professionals and office workers, with above average incomes, I think ED is guilty as charged. But you're right, it's not a village, or even similar!
  23. I don't see the problem with it, as long as people take their rubbish home. Surely a small brown square on the grass will be gone soon. Besides, some disposable bbqs come with little fold-out legs.
  24. Very glad to be proved wrong last night! Doubt Bute will want a rematch, its not as if he got with a lucky shot!
  25. The new tip is good. It reminds me of an indoor karting track.
