  2. Most people who own a car in London (including me) do so because it's convenient. As far as I'm concerned, there's no need for any further justification. And as for all this "86p a mile" stuff, who cares? If you earn the money, then you spend it however you please!

    Skiing advice

St Anton is one of my favourite resorts. Personally I think group ski lessons are great for beginners, as it's a lot of fun, and you meet other people in the same boat. But if you're not interested in the social aspect, then 3 hours in the morning would seem about right.
  4. Don't some ice cream vans sell hot dogs and stuff in the winter?
  5. Let's hope it doesn't divide the community in the same way.

    Roast

    Palmerston roasts are very good.
  7. As someone else said, crowded on-street parking is a fact of life in London - it's something you have to bear in mind when choosing to live in London, and choosing whether or not to own a car. By all means speak to the church, but in practice, their members are perfectly within their rights, and if they find it most convenient to drive there, they will continue to do so.

I realise that - but I don't understand why bogus charities and aggressive behaviour are not worth worrying about. Besides, we can't solve the financial crisis (assuming that's what ibilly is referring to), but we can prevent people buying crap from these people.
  9. Police? What crime has been committed? Who is in danger?
  10. If others have said - if that is urine, then somebody is very very ill (physically as well as mentally). Must be something else.
  11. I feel a similar way, Otta - even though I'm an atheist, I personally feel no need to be a part of some wider ideology. Still, each to their own, freedom of expression and all that. If somebody wants to identify themselves as a humanist, it's no skin off my nose.
  12. Multiplex Odeon, Pizza Express, Nandos, Waitrose, multi-storey car park. Sorted.
  13. I don't understand your point ibilly99, scamming people is wrong, even it's only for a couple of quid.
  14. I second Dulwich Fox's suggestion of a cleanup and defrag, and maybe also the anti malware scan. Make sure you remove any data and uninstall and unused applications before doing the defrag. If the disk is filling up a tool such as TreeSizeFree will help you to figure out the main culprits. I wouldn't suggest that a layman attempts a complete rebuild.
  15. Their mission statement (or whatever it is) is a load of cock, but if every pub is individually ran, it could quite possibly turn out to be decent. So I will hold judgement... and as others have pointed out, the fact that it's remaining as a pub is good news in itself.
  16. Agreed that 7% is quite steep, but if I had ?10 worth of change, there's no way I'd spend an hour sorting it into bags just to save 70p. The Metrobank service sounds great if there is a branch convenient for you.
  17. I saw somebody using it 3 days ago, seemed to be working.
  18. huckcheever Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Police fear Chris Rea is still attempting to drive home for Christmas Is that funny? Really?
  19. I actually think that Becks Blue tastes OK. And you could probably make a shandy out of it, if you find lemonade too sweet.
  20. The role might work for Putney, but that doesn't necessarily mean it would work for ED. Putney has a much, much larger town centre than ED, with lots of established high street names.
  21. I think the main argument for a Waitrose would be better quality meat, fish, and convenience foods than Sainsbury's, at opening times which suit those of us who work during the day. There is definitely a gap in the market.

    Stressed cat

Of course woodrot/snorky doesn't have permission. Why does he need it - he's not made copies of the images, he's just embedded links to them. Besides, the sack and the bricks look like generic stock images to me, what makes you think that the sites hosting the images own the copyright?
  23. Generally I agree that Apple products are overpriced (a Macbook costs about twice as much as an equivalent spec PC). But their stuff is undeniably high quality - very well designed, good quality construction/components, etc. The only tablet I've seen which can compete with the iPad is the Samsung Galaxy - and that's every bit as expensive as the iPad! And at the moment iOS has a better software base than Android.
  24. If the sound is coming from the TV speakers, it must be a setting on the TV rather than the surround sound amp. My TV (Sony) has a menu option for internal/external speakers... your Samsung probably has something similar.
  25. The article is basically saying that women in sports don't get the coverage they deserve - and that this is not suprising given that the female-oriented media is geared towards fashion and celebrity gossip. As Voyageur said, the tone is provocative, but much of the actual content makes sense to me.
