  1. I think it's a legitimate fight - even if Mayweather is the overwhelming favourite. Ortiz is one of the top guys at the weight... a bit harsh to call it a sham.

Not sure whether it's "corporate" or not, but Glastonbury is obviously big business, and as such, has been featuring crowd-pleasing, middle-of-the-road music for as long as I can remember. I won't be going myself, but each to their own. I dare say there is some decent stuff there if you venture away from than the main stages, which is more than you could say for "V Festival" or whatever.

James - your advice on the property marking kits is appreciated. But this thread really shouldn't be used to trumpet the acheivements of the Lib Dem council, or to get one up on the other parties. However, DJKQ, please practise what you preach, and don't use this thread to air your grievances with the council.

Don't forget the royal wedding memorabilia on the walls.

How can they even ship it to Hungary for 20p a kilo?

I worked in Basingstoke for a year after finishing my degree, I guess you could consider that to be a gap year of sorts.

Will queeny still be alive by then, anyway?
  11. There's a huge difference - The Rolling Stones don't constantly preach about easing poverty, and Mick Jagger doesn't pretend to be a politician.
  12. Yeah, they probably wouldn't stick around to figure out the age/spec/condition.
  13. No can do this Sunday, sorry! I'd be up for it some other time if a group of people are up for it... although my availability can be somewhat erratic.
  14. I really think Froch should beat Johnson handily... I hope I don't have to eat my words on Sunday. Khan's fighting Zab Judah in a couple of months - should be a cracker.
  15. This is really worrying. The pattern is too blatant to be a coincidence. They're obviously professional in their approach, not surprising that fingerprints weren't found. If people don't have alarms installed, perhaps a quick/cheap solution could be to install simple battery alarms on your rear windows/doors. As well as the marking kits that James suggests.
  16. Surely pine is so soft, it was look dented and battered within a year or so anyway?

  18. I'm going to agree with edcase too. First of all, specialist faith schools seem likely to have children from a wider geographical area, therefore more cars. But more importantly, it's plain wrong for a publically funded facility to be available only to those with certain beliefs. Furthermore, I don't think the public should be funding religious indoctrination.

  20. What Brendan said.
  21. Not sure if Whitstable was a serious suggestion or an in-joke... but the train to/from London takes well over an hour, so doesn't fit the brief.
  22. Scary stuff. Thanks for reporting. Does your house back onto the train line?
  23. It's a bit of a silly argument... it goes round in circles, and doubtless will continue to do so again and again. carnell, straferjack, rahrah, etc are all right in that road enforcement is necessary to help traffic flow, and maintain road safety. We all know that. But at the same time, the individuals who do the job often use sneaky, predatory tactics, in order to meet the targets set for them - even going as far as handing out blatantly incorrect penalties on the off-chance that the recipient won't contest it. Again and again, their behaviour has been shown to be nothing short of disgraceful. And yet people wonder why they receive so much hostility? The solution is to remove artificial targets and financial incentives, and stop outsourcing the work to these cowboys.
  24. Steradian? Do you mean Streatham? (iphone typo?)
  25. Someone was posting a similar question the other day, somebody suggested the areas around Hitchin. The problem is that anywhere that fits your requirements (close to London, good transport, nice surroundings) is bound to be desirable and therefore expensive.
