  1. It is a fine film indeed.

  4. I'm pretty sure you'd get your money back (and then some) when you do eventually sell. So if you have the cash now, financially it should be a no-brainer. The main downside is probably all the extra work and time to completion.
  5. My experience is as follows... - A larger boiler is not necessarily needed (it wasn't with us) - I would agree that a 4 bed 2 bathroom house is more sellable than a 5 bed 1 bathroom house - Typical cost of the loft conversion is 30K. But after you've fitted out the bathroom, had the whole lot decorated and carpetted, paid for the building regs inspection, had fire doors fitted, electrical work, etc, 35-40K total spend is realistic. - It's a big job which takes a couple of months - It's a very messy job, so if you plan to get it done at any stage in the future, now is the time
  6. Seagal... hmmm... you could argue that he brought something new at the time. A style of martial arts different to anything joe public had seen before, which transferred fairly well to the screen (if you like that sort of thing). And he's also a chef. But as with Van-Damme, the lack of acting ability and highly limited repertoire were exposed pretty quickly, and they became parodies of themselves after a couple of films. It's strange how both Seagal and Van Damme keep going... churning out low-budget straight-to-DVD movies long after their star has fallen. Seagal in particular looks like he couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag before running out of breath.

  8. I liked Scott Pilgrim a lot. But you might not get it if you haven't played a lot of video games, and entered the local "battle of the bands" back in the day.

  10. I'd take Logan's Run over Face Off. It's more believable for a start. And I swear, if Face Off didn't have all that slow-motion, it would only last 45 minutes. The two Christopher Nolan Batman films are good, as is the first Tim Burton one. Some more classic action films - Total Recall, Alien/Aliens, Running Man, Minority Report, Rocky...

  13. As mockney says, there are loads of quality HK action films... off the top of my head, Police Story, Better Tomorrow, God of Gamblers, Shaolin Soccer, Ip Man are definitely worth watching. As for the big Hollywood blockbusters... Inception, Kill Bill, Matrix are cracking films... even the Bourne films are a lot of fun to watch.

I think they're fine, but they're supposed to be fitted at the same time as the membrane. To retro-fit them, you'd need to strip the wall back to the membrane, and I'm not even sure if this is possible without damaging it.
  15. Interesting... we've about to switch to VM, specifically because our existing broadband is unreliable.
  16. I think that "no more nails" stuff is fine for things like hooks, light pictures/mirrors, towl rails, etc, but not for shelves. I think you'll just end up ripping off chunks of plaster/plasterboard. Sometimes there is a stud wall between the membrane and the plaster, in which case you can screw into the stud walls. Otherwise, you can get watertight plugs which are designed for screwing into waterproof membrane - perhaps the original builders could do that for you?
  17. The Palmerston do a lovely roast. You'll need to book well in advance for either Franklins or The Palmerston.
  18. Hope you didn't put any money on that one...
  19. Undisputedtruth - like your username, nice sense of irony.
  20. Well done for getting your bike back! It might have been worth calling the police. The lad stole your bike... surely a single punch in the face falls under the "reasonable force" bracket. People can't be expected to stand by while scumbags are blatantly thieving in broad daylight.

    100s

    11,000 isn't as good as a 10,000. You'll have to get a 100,000 to better it IMO.
  22. I'm not interested in the "100 game" any more, since I got the 10000.

Yes, but there's a world of difference between bloggers, and established sources such as the BBC. It's like comparing The Times with a leaflet dropped through the door. Anyway, yeah... news reports in the broadsheets are generally free of spin, but the opinion pieces are still part of the paper, so surely it's reasonable to form an opinion of the paper partly based on those?
