  1. You bought a TV, and it still works after 2 years? I've never heard such a thing!
  2. Very nice, matthew... just as long as you don't forget to close your tags again!
  3. I fixed it. Aren't I clever?
  4. Asset Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Doing it to express annoyance is not on. You're right, that's not what it's for. But what really annoys me is cab drivers using their horns to signal their arrival. 6am on Sunday morning... I was not impressed!
  5. Ismelstar, I admire your optimism. My interpretation was that the sushi is very much an afterthought, in an attempt to fill a gap in the market.
  6. What happened to the Peckham Experiment, did it go out of business or did the owners just want to move on?
  7. I haven't been past recently, but yes it always looked empty. In fact, it has always looked closed. Bellenden Road seems to me like an area which is still trying to find it's feet. Still trying to shrug off Peckham's reputation and aspiring to be something more refined/quaint/bohemian. But a long line of failed businesses indicates to me that the regeneration still has a way to go.
  8. Plenty of people live up that way, hopefully they'll do well. And as LTP says, it's close to the park... always plenty of people milling around those parts on the weekends.
  9. Nunhead. Fish mongers + bakery + cemetary. Photo opportunities on the picturesque village green, pint in the Pyrotechnist's Arms. Then walk southwards to check out the famous SE15/SE22 border cutting through Peckham Rye. Pose with feet either side of the boundry line - more photo opportunities. Maybe save Deptford and New Cross for day 2.
  10. Who can tell...

There's nothing elegant or haunting about the several tonnes of scaffolding keeping it upright!
  14. jimmy, wombat, etc... I think you're taking a very simplistic view of the situation. No, these kids are not being "forced" to carry knives, nobody is saying that. But as I said earlier, people are products of their environment, nobody is born "evil", nobody is born a murderer. So don't you agree that it could be a good idea to take a look at what's happening in their lives, try and figure out why kids are turning out like this? Or would you prefer we just ignored the root cause of the problem?
  15. *Bob*, if you're sick of threads like this, then don't respond to them. You're helping to keep this thread alive, in fact more so than anyone. Without your contributions, it would probably disappear onto page 5 in no time.
  16. Yes of course it's hard to have sympathy for them, but we're all products of our environment.
  17. No they are not close. But now I come to think of it, they do share a similar village charm.
  18. Perhaps there's a fold in the page, Mike P? Asset, I have to concede that your route looks reasonable. But if you check out the Victoria route on a map, it is also consistently going NW. In fact, because I am pedantic, I just plotted both of them out, and the distances were near identical. (the Victoria route was about 0.3 miles shorter, but there will be a margin of error).
  19. Ging Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > A rehearsal space would be most welcome! Totally agree, I really think there's a lack of rehearsal spaces in London, anywhere half decent tends to get pretty booked up. Although I'm not sure how viable it would be, the public transport is not great here (trains are infrequent in the evenings).
  20. I don't have any problem at all with people telling others about crimes which have taken place in our local area, it's good to know what's going on and it reminds us to stay vigilent. The problem is that the threads aren't allowed to die off, people keep on posting on them for days and days, even if it's a minor incident. And ironically the anti-crime-posting forumites are just as guilty of this as anyone!

Because the M1 starts at North West London! You have to go West at some point!
  22. Haha... so we have no idea where she's from or what her background is, but because she looks a bit foreign, she is destined to "marry into her own kind"!! At least lilly has deleted the post, which I interpret as some sort of apology. GOod luck davy - at least nobody has had a go at you for not supporting the local shops!
  23. Could have been a useful piece of info for the person whose keys are lost/stolen.
