  1. The rises in price are only good if you view property as a financial investment, rather than a basic human need (and I speak as someone who bought in ED 5 years ago).
  2. Well, the slot machine place doesn't appear to want any customers. But that's another story...
  3. I will never use Foxtons - nothing to do with that documentary, either. My experiences of them include charging landlords and tenants for cleaning which was never done, attempting to charge fines for "late" rent payments which were actually on time, etc. As well as complete apathy from head office.
  4. I use the West Dulwich one all the time... they don't ask for your address, you know! It is on Vale Street.
  5. More importantly - I really think it would need to be on, or close to, the main "drag". The scruffy end of Crystal Palace Road is not ideal, unless you're expecting passing trade from builders and plumbers.
  6. I don't think it's a good idea to start kicking dogs, Alan. You'd come off second best if it decided to retaliate - at least if it's anything bigger than a poodle!
  7. Quit your jibba jabba, before this thread is lounged, sucka!
  8. Yes, on the promotional material for the flats, the unit below has a starbucks-type logo with "coffee shop" written on it. But when I asked one of their sales team, she had no idea what it was actually going to be! I pity the fools who buy those apartments, only to find they're living above a fried chicken takeaway.
  9. How about the Jerk Rock site, has that been snapped up yet? Also, I believe that the shop beneath the new flats (opposite the station) does not yet have a definite tenant.
  10. Yes, we all know that city traders work "at the Stock Exchange".
  11. It's so nice to have landlords who take pride in the appearance of their pubs! Keep up the good work.
  12. Perhaps one or two recognised names will start to attract shoppers from surrounding areas, hence boosting business for the indies. You never know. At least it's better than an ugly empty unit.
  13. bland clothes shop... but to be honest, it will probably be a roaring success.
  14. Probably isn't room for them anymore, what with the smaller car park.
  15. It's not the cat I was thinking of, but I'm still happy to help if you need an extra pair of hands. The plank of wood option sounds plausible... how far is it?
  16. I live quite close by... I often see a small-ish ginger/tortoiseshell cat in my garden - does that sound similar? Do you think it's reachable with a regular ladder, or is it a fireman job?
  17. Some of us view the DLR only as a backup plan for when the Jubilee Line conks out. The love starts to wear thin after a while!
  18. North Dulwich station is at one end of the village, and West Dulwich station is at the other. Dulwich Village is distinct from West Dulwich, although they share the SE21 postcode.
  19. I do think it's a great idea... I often get home from work late, and just don't have the inclination to go to the effort of cooking something decent (let alone going out to buy fresh veg, etc). And it's always a problem, trying to figure out which takeaway or restaurant is least harmful to my health. The pricing is the key - I probably wouldn't use it if it was over ?15 a head. I know they're not going to compete directly with the curry/chinese places on prices, but I think it needs to be in the same "ballpark" for people to consider it as an option.

So does that mean the green shop is no longer taking over the sports shop? I was wondering whether there was a market for it, what with the new Karavan shop and SMBS.

  22. Keep The Castle... just give it a lick of paint!

  25. What's wrong with Page 2?
