  1. ... but yet you appear to resent live music being performed in the Forest Hill Tavern.
  2. ED is NOT becoming Clapham! Seriously, these days LL is so much nicer than Clapham High St.
  3. A cinema would be good, if only they hadn't destroyed this place (which I'm sure Louisa has fond memories of): http://www.darkscreens.co.uk/cinema.asp?id=184
  4. But a gracious loser. Which makes you a winner. Or something.
  5. There is a pub called "The Castle" on Walworth Rd, amongst some lovely looking council flats. It's nearer Camberwell than E&C though. "The Elephant & Castle" (on the E&C roundabout) is a totally different place!
  6. 2k for a wedding dress may sound like a lot to some of us - but that doesn't change the fact that she trusted her property to the cleaners, and they ruined it... and then tried to cover up!
  7. The Castle isn't my favorite place, but it's not that rough really. Certainly not as bad as the Plough or the Foresters were.

The council there actually deliberatly obscured the view across some of the roundabouts, to force the boy racers to stop and look before entering the roundabout. Not sure if it worked, though...
  9. An art installation would be good, but it had better be robust (ie made out of stone/concrete) otherwise it will just get smashed up.
  10. Hmmm... I've never really understood the enthusiasm for particular brands of lager. Don't a lot of them taste pretty similar? I always thought Asahi was particularly generic and nondescript!
  11. Nasty! I was also once clipped by a car while chasing a kid who snatched my phone (on Grove Vale), so I sympathise. It sounds like the postman will be OK, which is good to hear.
  12. Is this the junction at the corner of peckham rye?
  13. Just a joke, MW! Wasn't meant at your expense...
  14. CJ didn't get where he is today by buying wine from Threshers! I think he would go to Nicholas, or Green and Blue.
  15. Le Moulin are expanding? Damn these aggressive, big business types! Don't they know that there are already other restaurants in ED they might be competing with?
  16. I used to be customer/patient (delete as appropriate) of theirs in Grove Lane, and never found it to be particularly corporate, certainly compared to other physios I've been to... although the letter to local businesses certainly sounds intriguing.
  17. I do not see how a new physio site is detracting from our quirkiness. How is this less individual or quirky than what we have now (ie a big empty building standing on the corner)? As a matter of fact, this sounds like quite a unique facility to me!
  18. OK sorry, didn't mean to sound condescending. He looks like an awesome cat, btw.
  19. Peckham native - I assume you've gone through all the regular channels - RSPCA, Battersea, etc? Just to make doubly sure that the owners are not looking for the poor thing.
  20. You're right, of course. But generally I believe that smaller businesses can survive if they offer a good service at competitive prices. Especially someone like a physio, who will get a lot of business from word of mouth, recommendation from doctors, etc - it shouldn't be hard to provide a better service than a place packed with fresh graduate physios. I suppose time will tell.
  21. Despite my slight misgivings, I don't think that ES is a threat to the area. And they are a small business with ambitious plans for expansion, who are taking a big risk - which I actually really admire. Foxtons are the one I'm worried about.
  22. Great film last night! I managed to get one of the padded seats, lucky me :)) And generally I think their film choices this season have been spot on. I understand they're not making a big profit, but hopefully they'll have enough for a better audio setup for next season.
  23. ES Physical isn't really a big business though. They currently have 2 sites - Camberwell and Harley St. And I believe the Camberwell branch will close when the LL one opens. So they're not exactly the Starbucks (or Books etc) of the physiotherapy world! It is perhaps a little out of character for LL though. The other businesses are there to serve the local community, presumably a site of this size will be aiming to draw customers from a wider area.
  24. It's called Green and Blue!
