  1. The stall on Northcross Rd... if you mean the one which is predominantly ska/reggae, then yes, it's great! I'm not sure whether an independant music (CDs/vinyl) could survive locally though, I imagine it would be dead during the week.
  2. 5 years ago it was permanently empty, but these days it's a bit more popular... never packed though!
  3. The Sincliar C5, however... what I wouldn't give for one of those beauties!

Rubbish argument! you can buy perfectly good re-usable bags for one tenth of the price. You cannot buy a flat in ED for 30k.
  5. if you can walk to herne hill, do that... better than waiting 30 mins for the 37!
  6. Leave Iceland alone! You can pick up some real bargains there!

Again, someone posted on here saying that they were definitely opening one soon. > Also, whatever happened to Bombay Bicycle Club, I thought they were supposed to be coming too? I also thought that was a definite... maybe they did some research and realised there were already 87 curry places here?
  8. Shoe shop next to White Stuff Green Thing next to SMBS Viatnamese restaurant somewhere on LL Anyone know what's happening to the Barbers and Jerk Rock?
  9. I don't think they need a professional PA installation, just a reasonably beefy amp and speakers (ie ?300 from Richer Sounds sort of thing)!
  10. No need to get touchy Alan... nothing personal, I'm just having difficulty seeing your side of the argument here. Anyway, I would also like to add that a decent B&B is a great idea. A friend of mine (actually, my friend's Mum!) ran the London marathon last year, and stayed in a place on Barry Road, and apparently it wasn't very good. And I've also heard bad reports on here of the rooms above The Uplands. So I'd say that a nice B&B would be a welcome addition to ED.
  11. Alan - if by "The price is comparable", you mean that it is possible for one to compare the prices, then yours is a very unusual argument indeed! The Great Eastern is ?400 a night, so you may as well say that this is also comparable to the Travel lodge. So why would you choose the Travel lodge, when the Great Eastern is so much nicer, and charge comparable prices??
  12. Yes, whatever happened to our musical collective?!!
  13. Indeed I do. Is this to say that Hisar is going "dry"?
  14. Karter - if Hisar is evolving for the better, then I am happy! Went in there on a Wednesday the other week, and it was very busy. Food was very reasonably priced and tasty, service was very friendly. It's a real winner if you just want something simple and don't want to spend Franklins/Palmerston money!
  15. Can't think of anything particularly healthy as such... but the Turkish place would do you some grilled meat or fish, with rice and salad.
  16. I worked in Croydon for a while, and found out the hard way that the last train from East Croydon to ED was at 5:30 (not sure about the other direction though).
  17. Yep, the on-line topup is a waste of time... I've been caught out by this before. If you need to take it to a tube station anyway to activate it, there is clearly no advantage of paying online! jim_the_chin - I would have refused to accept the fine!
  18. Yummy! Did anyone see this on TV? http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/programmes/roadkill_chef/

    The Plough Pub

  20. "Cleatus" "Muttly's Dastardly Skam" "Drive By Diablo" "Suicide Milkshake" Surely I am the winner...

    The Plough Pub

Inside 72 is good, a bit small though!! I do like music-oriented pubs along the camden lines, but I'm not sure ED is the right place for something like that... after all, it's a primarily residential area, unlike Camden Town.
  22. Bawdale is a lovely road... the houses are really nice along there. But like the professor says, it seems to be very expensive these days. I was looking at flats last weekend, and there was a one bed flat for 290k, and a "one and a half" bed place for 300k.
  23. Hmm... I'm not delighted about White Stuff coming, but I think it will be better than 3 scruffy empty units in the middle of Lordship Lane! Anyone know what the delay is? There seems to be no sign of activity whatsoever.
  24. Yep, the buildings could be quite nice... let's hope they do a good job!
  25. > With a three bedroom Victorian terrace costing > between ?300 - ?400, 000 it seems to have up and > gone already! Unfortunately that would only get you a 2 bed flat in ED... I think there is still (relatively) good value to be found in Nunhead.
