  1. in short, Uk is beginning to realise it is Foooked. And apart from breaking international law (rather than using it's traditional diplomatic departments to engender trust and foster partnerships) it is blustering around the place without any leverage and making more and more enemies. And yet happy to threaten further aggression because Johnson doesn't understand what he has done but by appointing the likes of Frost he can be sure that this will only get worse All predicted. All pointless And leavers reduced to bleating about being treated in a way they don't approve of, and calling Europeans little Hitlers or squealing pigs. So tiresome.
  2. There is a world of difference between acting in one's own interest and breaking legal treaties
  3. the EU is not breaking the (freshly signed) working agreement - the UK is. The UK agreed and signed this (at haste of their own making - no one forced them into it) The UK is, once again, the aggressor. And all for what benefit?
  4. "Maro? ?efčovič, is squealing like a stuck pig" typical nasty portrayal of forrins there keano "The protocol isn?t working " it is working EXACTLY as was agreed to - you just didn't believe people who pointed out the problems. or when people wanted to debate the details of the deal to avoid issues like this, govt told everyone no one was interested in discussing this any more as we had been doing so for 4 years this is on you
  5. "Lets all remember that if and when the UK aggressively responds...." to what end??? This is the whole point about Brexit - it is needless and pointless attrition, caused entirely by misplaced English exceptionalism. If it really wanted to leave the EU it should have been honest with itself and it's voters and said it was going to be painful and costly over a long period of time, with additional worry of restarting violence in NI - but ask people if we wanted to do it anyway instead it lied and when people tried topping out the folly of those lies they were called remoaners. This all old news now - but to actually think this was going to be easy after the fact, or accuse EU of throwing a tantrum is just indulging in the same misguided belief
  6. and who made you THAT promise Cat? Did they try and sell you magic beans as well? You can say they are acting punitively - member states will say they are protecting their collective interests (something the UK did many times whilst a member)
  7. leaving the EU meant erecting borders - Remainers pointed this out and were told it was project fear - all the distribution issues affecting NI are a direct result of Johnson deciding to put border in the sea - as was predicted the other option is a land border in Ireland - madness But all of this was forecast and dismissed What about shellfish? Was this EU lashing out? Not a bit of it - it goes back to 2020 https://yorkshirebylines.co.uk/hapless-defra-secretary-eustice-humiliated-and-schooled-by-the-eu/ Australia have asked EU to review the Italy decision but are relaxed and understand Italy needs them more than Australia does, given comparative death rates - far less hysterical than effra would have it Meanwhile the UK is reduced to paying for adverts disguised as articles in brexit supporting newspapers pretending to outline the benefits of brexit. One would think that if there were benefits these papers would be printing them for free not to mention UK unilaterally breaking the agreement by extending supermarket grace period without consultation
  8. it's a worry that some people might read Effra posts and think they have a point
  9. Ianr pulling up a post from 12 freakin? years ago. Fair play
  10. Glenn Roeder. 65 isn?t old at all
  11. Yesterday you learnt that not all farmers are rich
  12. One possible explanation is that the smiley symbol has recently been coopted by COVID/lockdown ?sceptics?
  13. ? Ever seen a poor Farmer ? ? The whole thread is purpose built for bad takes but man alive this will be hard to top I?ve read it many times. Still can?t believe a human wrote it
  14. That shitheel of a group have been Covid conspiracists from way before COVID vaccines even arrived, and they have a long history of, well... https://www.acsh.org/news/2020/04/01/anti-vaccine-group-childrens-health-defense-smells-coronavirus-conspiracy-14681
  15. Shocked I tell you
  16. Man alive Uplandrrd2020 thinks a global pandemic with rampant transmission and mortality is something being ?fed to us by tv? and we should do checks for ourselves ?Hey sephiroth, this is all made up yknow!? So people I know who have died, or people in my family who are sick are just... made up? And where would I go to check this ?misinformation? out for myself ? Maybe if you posted links to this information, you would be... laughed out of town?
  17. Gails part owned by Luke Johnson - Brexit supporter or not, wether that is good or not (he is, and it IS Bad) main problem I have with him is how he treats his staff - he was one of the bosses on that documentary series where managers took to shop floors and he was appalled by conditions but was one of the few to change nothing when he left the shop floor https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luke_Johnson_(businessman) My dislike of the man long predates Brexit or Gails
  18. Vaccines are working but the body of scientific opinion is that a) they are no silver bullet and b) opening before everyone is vaccinated not only allows but encourages further mutations this doesn't mean stay locked down forever - but it does mean being more cautious than this govt (and others) were last year. We have cranks like Hartley-B claiming we are in permanent lockdown in the week before we are about to start reopening. We are just reopening more cautiously than last year and that's a good thing (strong correlation between defenders of Johnson saying "no-one could know about the UK variant arriving and causing so much damage" last year and now saying "just open up - we now know enough to not worry about such things")
  19. I'm going to admit to "bad thoughts" about joggers many times in this pandemic (amongst many other groups tbf) and I initially found fishbiscuits postings on here about jogging a tad aggravating But he has stuck with his points and made them well and I have started to try and observe joggers behaviour before bracketing them all together and trying to be more tolerant (even if I do still think that the "bad pedestrians exist too" debate is a bit like bad drivers complaining about bad cyclists existing too - it is both true and yet moot because the faster, bigger player overpowers the smaller one which is ultimately unfair)
  20. sorry maxi - a) I left you out and b) yes I chose wrong thread shame about the gooners comment ;-)
  21. a shame West Ham fans of your on here don't post in here anymore - I'm finding it rather pleasing to see Hammers doing so well
  22. How did you find out you were blocked? Was it when you tried to log in or was it via an email or text alert? Because it sounds like you may have been phished If it was via an email, it's probably worth changing your passwords on other accounts asap
  23. Excel? Foxy is a Supercalc man if every i saw one
  24. I don't want to argue with all of your points there Foxy, but an alternative view is that there is also a pent-up demand and that many people cannot wait to get back out there
  25. I agree with the thread sentiments - but isn't this story a few days old and not really backed up by any serious govr proposals? It's all "maybe" this and "perhaps" that I wouldn't put it past this lot obviously - but I'm not worrying about it just yet
