Here's a question that's been bugging me, I don't know why but it has and I would appreciate it if some one could shed some light on it. Let's say there are two children and let's scientifically call them A and B. Going back 50 generations: A's parents, and their parents, and their parents parents etc all had their child at the age of 20 B's parents, and their parents, and their parents parents etc all had their child at the age of 30 Is child B more evolved because their genes are from older and more experienced parents? (I realise there will be 500 years difference between them) I think what I'm asking is, at what point in life do the evolutionary traits and life experience get passed on to a gene that would pass to a child? At what point do they stop? Any ideas?

Tony, if you were the Mayor of London for a day how would you change London? What policies would you put in place to make it better?

I never know that Mikecg, apparently "the Illuminati are a race of reptilian humanoids known as the Babylonian Brotherhood, and that many prominent figures are reptilian, including George W. Bush, Queen Elizabeth II, Kris Kristofferson, and Boxcar Willie". Blimey.

a quick novice question, I'm looking to place a ?10 bet on Osana (11/1 on William Hill), it's asking me if I want to take the sp. What does that mean and more importantly, should I take that or take "the price"? [edited once]

"Homeopathy is a system of medicine which is based on treating the individual with highly diluted substances given in mainly tablet form, which triggers the body?s natural system of healing.... They are diluted to such a degree that not one molecule of the original substance can be detected[/b]" Society of Homeopaths "not one molecule of the original substance can be detected"! therefore, in layman's terms, it's a tablet that contains nothing. Except magic. [edited once] for typos

I agree MP, sometimes it's like popping into a pub, seeing the bad comedians are still in there and thinking "ummm, no, perhaps I'll come back later".

14 days. The Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 1992 says any board advertising a property for sale or to let must be removed within 14 days of the completion of the sale or granting of tenancy. Send complaints to Southwark Councils contact centre [email protected] and their trading standards acts pretty promptly. Tell them your address (for their records), the the address the board is outside, how long it's been there i.e. longer than 14 days, whether they say 'Let' or 'Sold' and the name of the estate agent. The contact number of the estate agent taken from the board may also quicken the process. At the end of the day it's the law that the board shouldn't be there more than 14 days but the lots of estate agents seem to ignore that unless nudged. Or they claim to have an issue with their board erector and didn't realise it was still there. Good luck

I fully support the littering task force. Clean streets make for a more respectable place, more respectable means people are prouder of their area and that's a good thing. Please consider the "fixing broken windows" strategy from the book of the same name: "A successful strategy for preventing vandalism, say the book's authors, is to fix the problems when they are small. Repair the broken windows within a short time, say, a day or a week, and the tendency is that vandals are much less likely to break more windows or do further damage. Clean up the sidewalk every day, and the tendency is for litter not to accumulate (or for the rate of littering to be much less). Problems do not escalate and thus respectable residents do not flee a neighborhood." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fixing_Broken_Windows This approach was adopted in New York and helped make it and keeps it a better place. "MAKE OUR STREETS SAFER!", I agree. [edited once]

To be honest the removed posts are ones that have been reported and complained about or the original poster has asked for it to be removed. Admin doesn't just remove posts because s/he doesn't like them or wants to censor them, they have to be reported. Unless s/he spots an obvious wrong 'un that is.

They sometimes put bikes that have been painted ghostly white (ghost bikes) in places where cycling accidents have occurred: http://www.justseeds.org/blog/307182423_a333d03c55_o-thumb.jpg There's on on the corner of St John's street and Clerkenwell road at the moment, it's quite eerie to look at.

Admin tells me Felicity Normal AKA Postmodern will not be posting on the forum again due to abuse. This thread was an "ok then, I'll post something predictably boring that will appeal to the white, middle class tossers of the EDF". I think the forum will be a better place without her/him. I think a lot of those people were trying to find out about buses, trains and schools citizenED. There were 4,566 unique users yesterday because of the shooting.
-
The Forum doesn't "approve" of it Mikecg, you should report it. If you report it and it's malicious it will be dealt with by Admin and the team. If you believe posters are "antagonistic derogatory and inflammatory" report it, don't assume that the management "approve" of it because it's posted, they don't.
-
I agree with Jeremy, although it's a forum it doesn't give people the right to call everyone tossers especially as they don't know them. To use ????'s analogy it's like having a quiet drink in the pub and a couple of loud mouth arrogant nobs coming in and shouting abuse, have a quiet word with the barman and he'll have a quiet word with them. So please do comment to Admin about these things, a few of you have and action has been taken against some. If you think people are being flaming, rude or just out of order do report it, the forum's meant to be a useful and fun place and it shouldn't be spoilt by a few who get their weird kicks from stirring up negativity.

candyfloss Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > .. to protect you "the aspiring middle class" from your scummy neighbours in SE15. That's your own quote candyfloss, you imply that someone else had said it but they didn't, you did. Shall we make this a discussion about the shooting and not a postcode/region slanging match because people thought that the suggestion of "checkpoints and resident vetting" was actually serious. And Mikecg stirring things up with his generalisations. My condolences to the family of the guy involved. -
Tony.London Suburbs Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Its just that as I highlighted Sir David's derogatory comments... Ah it makes sense now, so you believe his comments about you were derogatory, therefore the comments ...david should get a life ...he is a pedant, snob, displays a sneering superciliousness and superior air by writing this. ...the hallmark of rather an unpleasant character were actually your comments about him. That's just rude.

I don't know, you'll have to ask those that may say it.

Some may say that you really haven't a clue Tony.London Suburbs. Others may say that David was simply pointing out that you were passing off others' writings as your own. And some might say that you are a bit embarrassed that he had shown you up. Not I though, I understand it is your attempt at humour.
