  1. I had my son there 4 weeks ago and I couldn't fault them, spotlessly clean, lovely staff and even the food was fine! I had swapped to Tommy's last time round at the eleventh hour after a very poor tour, glad to see everything is so good there now :-)
  2. Thanks for all the suggestions, think I will work out a plan of action for next week :-) Where is the Copleston playgroup, All Saints playgroup and Rye Oak book club? What time does the Goose Green playgroup start? is it in the church hall where bumps and babes is held? SB your comment re Rhyme Time made me chuckle, I've not been there for ages but hate to think the havoc I could cause. What is the outdoor playgroup like at Warwick Gardens? Is it weather permitting and is it enclosed? I didn't realise how much there is that is suitable for both babies and toddlers, I need ti try out the PR one o'clock club and once driving again get going to the Crystal Palace one. Are they both on every day?
  3. My daughter is 16 months old and son 4 weeks, have come to conclusion that I need to be going somewhere every day with them both to keep both of them happy and me sane! Which groups locally can I take both baby and toddler to which ideally are contained and will amuse / tire out toddler whilst allowing me to feed baby etc as required. My daughter plays up when I feed him so ideally something where her attention will be on something other than her brother being b/f. Thank you :-)
  4. A very kind forumite loaned me a couple of weaning books. I remember where you live but not the house and can't remember username :-( Please pm/post here so I can return, and thankyou so much for loan.
  5. Thx all :-) Some brilliant suggestions, we are trying them out and so far all have been a success with baby I :-)
  6. Thanks for all the advice, good to hear it is quite common. Will try out the suggestions and let you all know how it goes :-)
  7. James, do you know what the capacity of the new recycle bin will be? How does that compare to the current blue boxes? We have 3 blue boxes, despite collapsing bottles, cans etc, all three are overflowing every week. The bin will need to have 6 times the capacity of a blue box for fortnightly recycle collection to work for us. General waste is a very small quantity in comparison....... Only one dustbin bag per week, however there are nappies for two babies in addition...... From a hygiene point of view weekly good but from a quantity perspective it's not necessary.
  8. But what is the catchment area? Ie would this free places for ED children or children out of the area thus not helping the problem in ED at all? If the pupils do all live in a small catchment area around the school itself why is there such an issue with cars and parking? I don't know the answers and have nothing against faith schools, just am aware there are major shortages of school places in ED, if a faith school that awards 100% of places to children of that faith is extended, surely their catchment area widens and subsequently doesn't actually benefit the area as a whole... Hence the observation another school being extended may be more likely to reduce the problem.
  9. Given the issues locally re school places, surely it would make more sense to extend a local school that takes all children regardless of faith..... This Would (in theory) avoid parking issues too since attendance would be limited to those in walking distance, although accept there will always be some children being driven to school given moving house etc
  10. They prioritise by medical need so you should hold onto your number one spot! Get there early too. I had a spinal this time round and it was fine, I did have a reaction though which made me vomit as the anaesthetic wore off, I now know this is quite common. They have an anti sickness drug, if you feel at all sick ask the anaethatist to give you the anti sickness drug! Only other tip is to drink loads, they Will see your not dehydrated from your catheter, also once it's removed and you get the joy of pee'ing in a sick bowl, you will be able to perform fairly swiftly!! Btw I couldn't drink anything until the vomiting subsided (around 6 pm), just drank plenty afterwards. although hooefully if you do feel sick you can prevent it as you will know about it. Do you have a date?
  11. Hi Ruth, Try not to panic and enjoy the rest! Book lots of nice things like hair appointment etc I was paranoid about going into labour too so know exactly how you feel on that one!! Can you compile a list of friends to call locally who could stay with you if you did go into labour? Just knowing who to call should help. As for getting out of Kings ASAP, make sure everyone caring for you knows that is your intention, it's the paperwork that takes the time! Miss B needs to have a wet nappy, a soiled nappy, be feeding and good health. Tips for you are to get mobile as soon as you are able, have catheter removed and have visited the toilet and passed a certain volume of urine - they examine a couple!! If you can do all that you get let out.... I had L at 11.52am on the Tuesday and was out the Wed afternoon :-)
  12. Baby L is 4 weeks today, for the last couple of weeks he seems to bring up milk regularly. Not immediately after a feed as normal but pretty much anytime afterwards before the next feed. Generally it's a small amount and looks curdled, there have on occasions been a lot of non curdled milk reappeared, ie appearing to be most if not all of the feed. Fortunately this is not regular. He seems to get upset and just want to feed..... Only settling when feeding again. He is demand feeding but I worry he is over feeding and this is the problem. He is also very windy and seems to get upset and have difficulty getting rid if it, again, wonder if this is the problem. I don't think he has colic as he doesn't cry enough... Also he generally sleeps well at night. Anyone else experienced this / have any ideas on how to deal with it? Is it normal? My daughter wasnt like this ...... He hates infacol btw.... Acts as though being poisoned!!!
  13. I wouldn't take my Vibe on a plane...... I bought a cheap second hand double Maclaren on here to take on holiday, both seats lie flat and it's much lighter so an ideal holiday buggy - and if it gets trashed on the flight doesnt matter!
  14. I will join you in a few months...... Im post C Section at the moment so banned from aerobic exercise, will def be running again as soon as I can though! Need to get fit again!
  15. Tuesday mornings no good for us unfortunately, swimming lessons for my toddler mid morning.
  16. Where in ED do you live? If close to us I dont mind taking delivery, my OH works from home and I am on maternity leave so it's rare for nobody to be in.
  17. My daughter does two afternoons at Little Jungle, it's only recently opened and has a lovely atmosphere. There are only 6 under 2's at any time so very personal and plenty of attention.
  18. My daughter is getting fed up with weetabix and cheerios which are the cereals we tend to have. Any suggestions of alternatives that are not packed with sugar but which children like? She also eats yogurt, toast and fruit but that's about the extent of our breakfast menu and I think she would welcome a change! Clare
  19. We had them in Goodrich too, didn't speak with them though as was a bad time!
  20. We had cause to call 999 and was put on hold!! That said, once did speak with operator response time was unbeleivably fast, around 2 mins!!
  21. I like my back door open too, having a large dog always thought this fine! Seems to not be the case! Rubbish that to prevent being robbed even when at home you need to effectively lock yourself in! Absolute scum!
  22. That's awful, worse that you were there at the time. can't believe someone would be so bold as to do that with a dog resident!
  23. We cant make Tuesday am, bigger little one has her swimming lesson then. Hopefully come along next time, every day this week busy as have friends visiting baby L pretty much every day. If something happening next week we have more free time :-)
  24. Tee hee, how about Great Aunt Loretta?
  25. I think that's why Buggie stood no chance!
