Cool! What a claim to fame :-)

can you confine her to a room without carpet at night? Won't solve the problem but easier to clean!! I have a fairly elderly dog that started to be "untrustworthy" at night, we started feeding him in the morning only rather than morning and night as we had been doing, that solved the problem fortunately. We did use a dog crate too, although I am not sure that would be appropriate with a cat!

One I hope to never have to say again! 'don't put your foot up the dogs bottom' ! Eugh! Swift Milton wipe moment!!!

Babies with haemangiomas/strawberry marks
ClareC replied to Belle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi all, My younger sister had one on her back hip when she was born, it did totally disappear. I remember as it went it was almost like a balloon being stretched, ie went much lighter and not as dense. Can't remember what age it totally went but I do remember it going from being very noticeable to barely noticeable by the time she was a few years old. Will ask my mum when I see her next. -
Just looked and mine is the older version :-(

Ooh I will dig my one out and look..... It's on the shelf not having been opened much!!!

Monday Bumps n Babes at Goose Green
ClareC replied to Ruth_Baldock's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Where in Goose Green is it held and what time? Think we need to go to more groups :-) -
meant to add, Belle, we feel the same way, that family have an important role anyway!! Having one friend seems to be controversial!?!? :-(

It all sounds so familiar!! Thanks, I feel like I am not being unreasonable after all ;-)

What is the etiquette if there is one? My partner and I both have aunts and uncles as godparents. For our daughter we intend to choose the people we think would be most appropriate and would take the "job" seriously and have an active role in her life, this happens to be a mixture of family and friends (2 family one friend). Got a bit of a grilling about this yesterday as the expectation seems to be we should have all family. I think the grilling was more to do with being upset a certain family member wasn't going to asked and there is an expectation there, even so, wondered if we are being unfair and should cave in to having an extra godparent (I really do not want to do this, my personal opinion being to stick with tradition since it makes being "chosen" the compliment it is. Any thoughts?

c-section...some reassurance please...
ClareC replied to HOMum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hiya, I had an emergency (albeit not crash) ceasarian back in January at Tommy's. Can honestly say that it was absolutely fine and a pleasant experience, far less painful than I ever anticipated and the recovery was much faster than I imagined and nowhere near as painful as I expected (far faster recovery than friends who ended up with episiotomy's!) I had the operation on a Sunday night (left theatre around 9 pm), was in a recovery room with one to one care until 4am when I was moved to the ward. Was up and walking by lunch time on the Monday (@15 hours after op) and discharged Tuesday afternoon, less than 48 hours after Op. The theatre staff were amazing, couldn't fault them. I wasn't at all scared and I held my baby whilst I was stitched up etc. If you feel sick during the op tell the aneathatist, they give you something to stop the sickness which works! Doesn'y happen to everyone but worth being aware of. One word of advice after the op is to not allow your bladder to fill ie go often!!! I made the mistake of allowing this to happen and it was really painful given the proximity to the wound internally! In terms of packing, I didnt use any of my day time clothes until I was discharged! Big Bridget pants a must (Primark do some great ones which are cheap enough to be used as disposable), and high waisted clothing that doesnt end at the wound - maternity leggings were perfect!! A maternity pad, pad to wound works well on clothes that do end at the wrong place!! Other advice is don't overdo it!! They say rest and no housework etc, def follow this advice. The only time my wound hurt post op (other than bladder situation) was when I overdid it at home! If it hurts, listen to your body and stop what you are doing and rest. My partner helped me by getting up in the night and giving our baby to me to feed and then changing her nappy and putting her bsck to bed whilst he was on paternity leave - saved me keep getting in and out of bed which is awkward for the first week or so. My scar is barely visible now, only 10cm long and so low it can't be seen even when wearing a bikini. I can honestly say I would definitely choose to have a ceasarian if I have another baby. -
Any ideas for a good beach to drive to?

Prams, number 63 bus and aggressive driver!
ClareC replied to ClareC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Worth adding the garage were not aware of the problems the new design causes. If enough people call the 'policy' will be relaxed on these type buses. -
Prams, number 63 bus and aggressive driver!
ClareC replied to ClareC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
alieh, def call the number above and make a complaint. If it is the same driver (certainly sounds like it), the complaints will be on his record and appropriate training given. I have purposely not described the chap as I didn't want to start a witch hunt, however, a number of people have PM'd me and all the descriptions match...... Certainly sounds as though there is one driver of the 63 that hates parents/prams and takes pleasure from being nasty and difficult. -
Prams, number 63 bus and aggressive driver!
ClareC replied to ClareC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Def not possible with mine, unless you happened to have a sling :-( Frame folds (Non umbrella) but you do need to remove pram top which doesn't fold. Def very unlucky with driver, he intentionally made what should have been an easy journey difficult. He really was a nasty piece of work. Buggies are def like shoes...... there is not one that fits all of the wish list!! -
Prams, number 63 bus and aggressive driver!
ClareC replied to ClareC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The bus was empty other than one chap that got on the same time. We were travelling at a quiet time (2.30pm). Make and model of buggy is irrelevant given the circumstances, no one needed to squash up! It was the buggy having wider wheels at the back than the front (as is common with many buggies) that was problematic, not the size/width of pram itself. Is it actually possible to fold a pram and hold a young baby at the same time? -
Prams, number 63 bus and aggressive driver!
ClareC replied to ClareC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Now there's a plan ;-) I am guessing there are not too many public transport using parents involved in the designing or purchasing of these new buses!! Sound's as though the nice driver's with common sense recognise the design issue and use their discetion whereas others use it to wield power for some kind of weird kick!! Can't believe Sledge's expeience!! I really hope you complained, that treatment is discriminatory and totally wrong. -

Its so ridiculous. Nasty > man. I wonder if its the same guy you ran into > Clare. What a stupid design change as well. We've > been thinking about complaining to TFL about him > but feel like it probably won't do any good. I have just called Peckham bus garage and spoke to Alison in Customer service. She wasn't aware of the design issue, however confirmed that it is their policy to only allow double buggies on the back doors, however discretion can be used. I have made a complaint about the driver, I gave a good description which coupled with the time and location of the driver change makes him identifiable. Unfortunately I am advised I won't get any follow up, just the assurance that they have 15 days to deal with it. Apparantly complaints about particular drivers are put on their records so any consistent problems can be identified and additional taining provided as appropriate. I won't describe the driver on here since to do so would be unfair, however it certainly sounds like the chap your nanny encounters who certainly does seem to have a few customer service issues! I definitely think it is worth complaining about - especially given she is using a double buggy so is allowed on other doors in accordance to "policy". The number to call is 0207 064 5740 If everyone that has suffered from this new design calls to advise the bus station, they may well see sense and change the policy on these particlar buses. -
Prams, number 63 bus and aggressive driver!
ClareC replied to ClareC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
A twin buggy must be near on impossible! It's sad when the actions of a few make public transport a negative experience :-( In hindsight the driver must have known (when he happily let me touch in and pay for the journey) that the buggy wouldn't fit. Seems an absolutely ridiculous design! A wheelchair definitely would not get through the gap. -

It certainly did come across that way :-( there was no obvious reasonable explanation for his behaviour. -

ClareC replied to ClareC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Must admit I rarely use buses these days, tend to walk everywhere within reason. The driver did get off at Peckham Library so was obviously close to having his break, the ridiculous part was that it took longer for him to wait for me to fold the buggy etc than it would have done for me to board at the other doors! Maybe it was the infamous Nigel ;-) -
Anyone else found the bus design different to the other double deckers and preventing prams getting on? A friend and I caught the 63 today, having boarded and touched in on the (entirely empty) bus, I found there is a bar at the beginning of the buggy /wheelchair section which has a bend near the floor making the aisle too narrow in that one part (where the bar met the floor)to get the back wheels of the pram though and therefore preventing access to the wheelchair /pram section. This is not there on the 40 / 176 or 185 (first time I have caught the 63). I reversed and asked the driver to open the midddle door so we could get on there instead (other side of bar), him having witnessed the problem. He insisted I either get off or fold the buggy (with sleepy 6 month baby in). The bus was empty, !!!! Fortunately my friend's pram did just get through the gap so she was able to hold her pram and my baby whilst I folded my pram (doesn't actually fold, had to go through rigmoroul of taking pram top off of base and then separately folding base etc). The driver was pretty aggressive and totally unreasonable (totally unprovoked), his attitiude appeared entirely uncalled for. I could understand if the bus was busy, or if there were aleady two buggies or a wheelchair on there (in which case I wouldnt have boarded) but the bus had no passengers whatsoever save one chap who got on at the same time as us!! Has anyone else experienced this? I am just grateful my friend was with me, I was really shocked and taken aback. If this had happened when I was alone I would have been quite upset by it, as it was I was just pretty shocked. Anyone experienced problems on this bus?
