  1. There is also a group that meets on a Tuesday, again all forum new mums. Pm me if she fancies coming along x
  2. The Rainbow Centre does amazing work for children with Cerebral Palsy, my friend's son was born at 23 weeks and suffers with CP, he has been going to this centre for a number of years and although he is severely disabled, can now do a lot more than he ever could have acheived without this centre. http://www.rainbowcentre.org/index.asp
  3. http://www.intensivecourses.co.uk/information.html Found this company googling "intensive driving lessons". Quite pricey but then driving lessons are :-( You could do it in a week or two!
  4. There are places where you literally do a day's (or maybe two) intensive driving instuction and then a test! It's going back a few years now but a girl I went to school with (with wealthy parents) bought her a car for her 17th birthday plus the intensive course - she was driving her brand new car within a week of her birthday!! I will google it and see if I can find the place.
  5. My daughter is a bit small for such adventures, however, my nephews certainly have their moments! The two year old was sat in the trolley whilst my sister did the grocery shopping, whilst she was looking the other way he took a banana off the bunch in a passing shoppers trolley, peeled it and tucked in! On another occasion he was naughty so was sat on the naughty step, he pomptly got up ad went back into the kitchen where everyone was. He was put back on the step and the kitchen door closed (he isnt tall enough to open it himself). Not to be deterred he went into the dining room, climbed on a chair, pushed the seving hatch open and crawled through into the kitchen!
  6. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is another fab read :-) Anything by Paulina Simons (may be double m) are really good!
  7. My partner was brought up RC and I am CofE. We plan to have our daughter christened CofE. My friend is going to be christened so she can be godmother. I plan to speak to the vicar about my brother in law, seems rather hypocritical for the church to accept him to there Sunday service most weeks yet not allow him to be a godparent!
  8. Allow the sand to fully dry out, perhaps then it will separate and wash down the sink
  9. Thanks Fuschia, that's an interesting article. She is 26 weeks too and had a bad sleep patch at 4 mths so all does make sense! Wonder how long it lasts.....
  10. My daughter is 6 months today. Usually sleeps well but the last few nights has been waking a couple of times per night. Originally thought she was waking due to having a dirty nappy (we have just started solids). However, the nappies tonight are clean!! Just offered her water but needless to say she is none too impressed. I know she will settle if I feed her but am I starting bad habits to still do that in the night at 6 months? Thx

  12. Leanne, def chase this!! I was sent a date for biking in ( around 10 weeks) and scan date (12 weeks 3 days) very soon after seeing my gp. The scan date is important for the Mughal scan as there is a fairly small window. I ended up changing from kings to Tommys, my booking appt never arrived... I called and ended up speaking with the head of midwifery there who gave me a next day appointment ! Maybe chase with kings rather than your Dr. Good luck x
  13. I never see anyone, other than Kate Ford who I seem to see almost daily!!! However, this week I saw Helen Lederer at the top of Crystal Palace Road Sunday afternoon and Lesley Sharp in the Coop Wednesdat afternoon!! A few weeks ago one of the blokes from Shameless was in the Plough.... Don't watch it so didn't recognise him but my friend did!
  14. I will chat with the vicar and see what the position is. The next closest church is the Village one which is equidistant from us as our parish CofE church. Not sure they will be more lenient though. I suppose the other option would be to have her christened out in Kent (where I grew up and the vicar has kmown me years so potentially is more likely to be lenient despite being the wrong parish). Completely agree, my main objective is to have my chosen godparents!
  15. Glad all went well Sally81 :-)
  16. My daughter is 6 months and at 2 weeks she slept most of the time! Usually woke 3 hourly although sometimes longer. Midwife told me to wake her every three hours to feed her, tried it once but learnt you can't force a sleepy baby to feed!! Didnt bother again and she still gained plenty of weight - was born at 48th percentile and increased to 91st!! At 6 months she is still around 80th!! Completely agree with HeidiHi, as long as the weight gain is fine dont worry! They are all different!
  17. Thanks all, Belle, was your son christened locally? We have chosen our godparents but 2 of 3 are not baptised! That said one of the non baptised one's regularly goes to church and the other was married in a church but is not so regular church goer - albeit has fantastic morals is a lovely person and would make a wonderful godparent. I don't want "second choice" godparents but my local church have said godparents must be baptised :-( Intend to chat with the vicar about it but wanted to find out the position first.... Beginning to think having our daughter christened is a headache!!! We have a family consisting of devout Roman Catholic's, CofE, Methodist and Agnostic!!!!
  18. Or is it at the vicars discretion?
  19. Hooch, diamond White, diamond blush, mad dog, 2020 .....
  20. I just got cheap rollerblind ones from Ikea, I then use a normal curtain too as it looks nicer and blocks any light creeping in the sides:-) I have a gro anywhere blind for trips anywhere!! This has proved invaluable!!!
  21. My baby is 6 months and I was not told this .... Must be very new advice!! Does seem to defeat the object of swaddling!! I put my daughter straight into a Grobag, def recommend them!! Bump to 3 were doing 1 tog one's on buy one get one half price.
