What's your thinking on doughnuts/donuts, Lou?
-
Ah Louisa please tell me you're just pushing our buttons again. The croissant thread is an enjoyable read and a fond reminder of how many threads on the forum used to be people actually chatting TO one another rather than just talking AT each other. Almond croissants all the way ;-)

"Polpo said it welcomed Mr Javid?s review of the ?confusing and disparate area of restaurant service charge?, adding: ?If a better scheme is proposed we will support and implement it.? It welcomes a review yet still uses the existing system? Hmmmm. I've gone right off Russell Norman who takes great pains to stress he still has a mortgage and drives a ten year old Nissan. Why not ensure tips go to those that need (and deserve) them.

Otta that sounds like a good summary of what JC's role ought to be. Sadly, I fear that Labour have shot themselves in the foot again as I don't think he's leadership material although a highly principled man, its not enough. I'd say what JC propounds were the policies of the whole Labour Party and heavens alone knows what those MPs who have issued dire warnings about him believe in. No wonder Osborne is courting the ghastly Blairites. At least Labour in Scotland are pushing the line "SNP talk left but act right" which I think sums them (the SNP) up nicely. Holyrood elections next year, I'd love to see Labour do well up there.

sorry am also irrationally scared of piders but wouldn't kill them either. Just wanted to post to say welcome back Ridgely, wondered where you had got to and nice to see you posting again.

siousxiesue - I just want to say you are truly lovely, glad that there are kind people like you out there helping such families and their pets. Escaping a violent home and emotional blackmail is traumatic and its so thoughtful to help them out by looking after their pets which are part of their family too, it is something that doesn't get talked about much. x

LM you make me smile....you are correct, a wink is only a wink with ONE eye. I think Alan was meaning can you wink using either your left or your right eye, not both at once? (correct me if I'm wrong...) :)

Jeremy that is absolutely bloody gross and could give people nightmares!! Alan I can do it with both eyes (including Sean Connery 007 eyebrow raise with my right eyebrow but not left). I am right-handed. If that helps.

'omelette'. Just a posh way of serving eggs. FFS. Please don't say you had it with a glass of wine as well.

Well said RD! Not for the first time do I wish there was a Balfe's in Norfolk! Great service from rich & the team, highly recommended. My trek is still going strong after all these years :)

Just a wish...(there was a baby/pram/child free pub in ED)

Not condescending because you suggest taking kids to the park. Condescending because you not ONLY do you suggest people take their kids to the park but that "it is Summer", they could "take the time" to "make a picnic" & "take them to the park on foot so they get excercise & fresh air". Need I go on? Okay then. Pontificating about the fact that any parent who has a 'spare' 3-4hrs to sit in a pub must have the time to take children to the park/the swings/see but NOT feed the ducks. Really? You think posting that sort of stuff on a thread will endear you to anyone? You have no idea about anyone's personal circumstances or choices for taking their children to the pub for a meal. Why be so judgemental about it? -

I'm sure Jeremy and others know how much it costs to cook at home vs eating at pubs. Women weren't really welcome in pubs back then either, I'm glad that's changed! > .. its not a great environment for children. > > and parents usually mums during the day are > drinking.. like they are in the playground > (another thread.) > > Why is there a need to do so. ? and their kids are > eating crap.. Kids meals in pubs usually means > Chicken > Nuggets and fries.. Great. Your idea of what constitutes a children's menu in pubs is vastly outdated. There's a lot more choice now than chicken nuggest and fries you know... > Its summer... Take some time to make a picnic with > your children and take them to the park on foot so > > they get some exercise and fresh air. What a breathtakingly condescending load of old claptrap, I would say it beggars belief but coming from you, sadly, it doesn't. -
Threads that you never quite had the bottle to start..

Sounds like you're against 'posh' people having the temerity to go out in public rather than anything to do with parents. Inverted snobbery at it's best. -
Your reason?...

Sunday brunch before it becomes Sunday lunch...?
numbers replied to Jacqui5254's topic in The Lounge
oh dear...I've become all nostalgic for lazy Sundays in ED with hibbs & giggirl. House of Tippler did a cracking brunch with good coffee and the obligatory bloody mary. http://www.houseoftippler.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/House_Of_Tippler_Weekend-Food-Spring-2015.pdf
