  1. Metallic Can you give some more background or reference information to your last post as it seems to assume people know what it relates to ?
  2. I think you need to widen that slightly to include the proposal for a Borough wide CPZ
  3. In other news Ukraine are currently no 2 in the paralympics medal table behind China Now that's gotta hurt Putins pride.
  4. Interesting idea for a website and if you can produce an unbiased summary of each party and candidates views on key campaign points it would be a useful comparison tool. In my opinion that could include : - LTNs and alternatives - Borough wide CPZ and parking - Infill development (on estate green areas) - Plans to improve transport - High Street support measures - Social care plans - Schools - Safety (including street light maintenance) This election shouldn't be just about one thing as other equally important items need to be addressed but I did agree that if they aren't listening then they need to be made to listen.
  5. Apparently they have given themselves a name Tyre Extinguishers ---- not quite the name I would call them.. BBC News - Tyre Extinguishers: Scores of SUVs have tyres deflated by activists https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-60660711
  6. CPR Dave Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Why aren't people going round deflating dogs too? I've now got a vision of a Great Dane bring deflated to the size of a Chihuahua. I wonder how supportive people would be of this tyre deflation protest if the person doing it was disturbed half way through and the car then driven on a motorway with a half inflated tyre which then caused an accident? Whilst some are arguing its not a criminal act, it could well turn into something more serious in the above scenario. Every Action ....

Sorry couldn't > think of an analogy to letting tyres down. Forgive me but didn't the ludittes eventually lose their fight ? Let's hope it's the same with the anti car lobby
  8. And they say there isn't a war on motorists ... This behaviour indicates that for some there is....

You make it sound as if the whole of South East London drives around in Range Rovers and Jeeps I can count the toes on one foot the number of Range Rovers and Jeeps I've seen around here in the last year.. Then again I suspect in your head everyone drives a yellow Range Rover aka layer cake style
  10. Is it sad or cynical of his motivations After all in a few years we're all supposed to be driving electric or hydrogen vehicles so it's a short term expensive tool that when petrol/ diesel is no longer used will need to look at another way to raise revenue
  11. Is that the emperor's new clothes? 😄
  12. After the disaster of Christmas post (I'm still misding small parcels that were sent 6 weeks ago) they add insult to injury BBC News - Price of first class stamps to rise to 95p https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-60620378 Interesting to read that coronavirus lockdowns led to a sharp reduction in letter volumes yet the system couldn't cope with the reduced load Something very wrong there..
  13. It appears that the mayor now wants to extend his cash grab out across the whole of London. IMHO he can't generate enough revenue from the existing scheme so casting his net wider. It's not really about pollution as we're all moving to electric vehicles aren't we. BBC News - ULEZ: Mayor announces proposals for London-wide pollution charge https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-60608717

In an ideal world Springtime is correct but we are possibly 20 years from that point and if it all goes horribly wrong in the Ukraine global warming could be the least of our issues However the question is still valid of why are we using Russian gas at the moment as economically they massively benefit from it whilst gas prices are high
  15. Getting back to the discussion in hand Whilst the UK and Europe are imposing sanctions on Russia which has resulted in gas prices rising why are the UK and Europe still buying gas from Russia which is pouring millions extra into their economy as a result of wholesale prices rising. Whilst it will add hardship in the gas wholesale market it will also cut off a flow of cash to Russia. Admittedly we only take a small percentage of Russian gas but Europe takes (from memory) 40% of their supply.
  16. Try knocking if you are passing to see if they are aware before reporting them. It could be as simple as the owner not being aware since the storms.
  17. Or Chislehurst Caves
  18. Surly you could get one saying Bob the Builder's mate Sometimes Lives Here Can you fix it ?
  19. Enhanced as in more businesses located in one centre offering more products that will attract people to it. Shoppers are more likely to spend more money locally if when shopping for something specific like "cookies" they spot something they like but weren't expecting to see in the same location so it's good for shoppers who don't need to go to two places and good for local businesses. Market economics ... you are more likely to go to a bigger more varied market then a small or one stall market🤔

Dogkennelhillbilly Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Spartacus Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > > > As for which bars I personally think are good, > > they are already patronised by me. > I don't doubt it for a second Dear Billy , you are now showing your true colours by trying to troll other posters rather than providing a good solid contribution to the discussion. Keep to the topic and stop tackling the player
  21. Hey Billy You started suggesting people tell bars to be less crap so I was just asking you to take up your own challenge. But if you want to try and turn that on me then it just shows how you are playing at being the quote "Internet tough guy" unquote As for which bars I personally think are good, they are already patronised by me. I'm too long in the tooth to waste time in places I don't think are good. Although I will admit to missing some of the more quirky bars that we've seen along the lane over the years but that's market economics for you. However those is distracting from the proposed market which I still think is poor idea as it divides shoppers over two areas rather then providing a bigger offering in one location make it more of an incentive for people to travel to the area for an enhanced shopping experience.
  22. Had Petticoat Lane market and its reputation for cheap clothes survived the trendy changes and low cost primark type stores or has it bowed to foodies

It's all becoming a bit of a Jets vs the Sharks situation at the moment with Cllr Burgess playing Maria. 😆
