Melbourne Grove Market Trial Online Survey

Billy Billy Billy The conspiracy theory I heard was that Cllr Kieron Williams rode Shergar like the wind from Eunice to a grassy knoll above Dulwich Plaza (the new name for Dulwich Square created by the LTN) before firing the fatal shot that killed Justice, Freedom and Knowledge (JFK) for drivers in Southwark ... oh and Elvis sang "Suspicious Minds" whilst Del Boy set up a dodgy market stall flogging the idea that LTNs work in Dulwich I for one believe that theory -
Gala setting up on Peckham Rye
Spartacus replied to beansprout's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I would love to see where in relation to the event those for it and those against it live I suspect those for it will mostly not live within earshot and those against will mostly be within earshot or on roads that will be directly impacted. I could be speculating but would love to know. -

The consultation link offers very little opportunity to object to the location of the market or to propose that it be appended to ncr market. It feels like, yet again, a decision had been made and the consultation is only there to validate that decision... -

Personally If there's a need for more market offerings why not expand NCR market up to the Actress rather than creating a potential rival market. If the council are keen on supporting high streets then the obvious solution is to keep all the shoppers in one area and not try to create a secondary shopping area. Its obviously being planned by someone who has never worked as a town centre manager as they haven't got the foggiest on how to look after business interests... then again the council hasn't employed a town centre manager since Peckham Programme folded and the last town centre manager in the Borough retired (10 years ago ish) and the current strategy is Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) where the businesses pay to do what the council should 🤔 -
Wow kid They could go more "good life" and turn thier immaculate lawns into pig pens, chicken runs and goat safe areas, grow their own veg and raise rabbits to eat thus cutting out the greedy middlemen 😉 But let's be honest, its hard graft saving a few pennies and it's not a pheasant experience and liable to get your goat. Don't have a cow man as most people would chicken out and just rabbit on about the idea... 😄

Following on from what Legal mentioned about doorstep canvassing earlier in this thread. The poor guy who came to my door today almost couldn't get away quick enough when I said that his party aren't listening and that the loval LTNs arent working For some reason he said that he came from Islington and they installed theirs before us so it takes time to bed in .. didn't like my response in saying its had time here and not working... why compare us to another area ? Raising the question over PTAL scores made him even more ready to turn tail and run from my door. He actually made his exit sharpish when I asked about plans for a Borough wide CPZ which he couldn't answer because he "only moved here recently..." Let's hope councillors start listening otherwise come May there may be a few bloody noses, figuratively speaking, post the election.

New electric double-deck buses will be running on route 63
Spartacus replied to jazzer's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There's a core of people who won't be satisfied unless tfl bring back the original routemaster buses from the 60s. Not been on the new 63 yet, and my only comment is around the phone holders in the back of the seats as this possibly makes it easier for a snoozing commuter to have their phone snatched. Overall a positive move for London and curious to know where they are recharged if the run low near the end of the route. -
In a bizarre twist, the Met Police Federation have said they have no faith in the mayor. BBC News - Sadiq Khan: Met Police Federation has 'no faith' in London mayor https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-60375845
-
I'm sure if you dug hard enough into any large organisation, no matter how well they are at stamping out racism, misogyny, homophobia, and even 'institutional corruption' that you will still find individuals who secretly or amongst friends foster those ideas. With the Met (and UK policing in general) being such a large organisation its possibly a struggle to root out the bad apples who ruin it for everyone especially if they keep their views to themselves or a select few. IMHO, if you look closely the majority of police officers and staff don't hold extreme views / beliefs but sadly those few that do seem to tar the rest when they surface.
-
Not my area of expertise Wordsworth, but as its within the Mayor's remit maybe you should direct that question at him.

I wonder if the conversation yesterday went along the lines of "I've not got any confidence in your leadership" Followed by Sadiq saying the same.... Sad to see a leader respected by rank and file being ousted by someone who's repeatedly failed to deal with youth knife crime in the capital.

Did you have your hearing aid turned on in the shop Bob? I SAID DID YOU HAVE YOUR HEARING AID TURNED ON DEAR?

Just had another thought If we no longer need to isolate, will the requirement to do a LFT / PCR if we feel ill also be dropped ? If so will that hinder the UKs ability to spot and react to new variants ?
-
It's not just deaths, although 11% seems a high figure and if there's a new variant then what will that do to the mortality rate, we also need to consider lost days through more people being off sick and the after effects (long covid) and what that does to people and productivity. IMHO the number of cases say it's too early to stop isolating when you catch this virus that is a blood and respiratory condition. Maybe the honest approach is that we as a society shouldn't be driven by the "must go into work unless I'm on my death bed" culture and embrace taking time off when ill or at the least working from home where it's possible 🤔
-
This lunchtime bojo announced that he intends to bring the end of all covid restrictions forward a month and that in two weeks the 5 day isolation requirement if you catch it will end. Yesterday 314 people died as a result of Covid and 66,183 people reported testing positive (how many didn't report their test results?) Hardly seems over and if you no longer need to isolate, will we see a new spike in numbers where someone (for example) brings it into an office and infects everyone they work with. I worry its a political gesture to win votes and whilst it's possibly designed to keep businesses open it may well have the opposite effect.

He should be prosecuted for animal cruelty, banned from keeping animals for life (and his cat rehomed with a loving owner) and dropped from the team as he is a role model and kids will emulate him. For every action there is a reaction ?

Visible Panty Lines (VPLs) are notorious for showing you where you should be entering your details but not letting you get in. Stick to VPNs instead which are much easier to use 🤓
