  1. My dad used to give up for lent every year. Not for any religious reasons. He wasn't a catholic and he was also an atheist - but just to prove to himself that he could do it.
  2. All too true but there is more than one way to skin a cat. Allowing for our deficiencies Capello got his tactics spot on. Not pretty to watch I'll admit but it got the result that we wanted. I thought there were some pluses in that some of the young players did well and got some very good experience under their belts. Rodwell and Welbeck in particular. And Scott Parker showed once again with his man of the match performance that the holding position should be his.
  3. So. England 1 Spain 0. Bet you didn't see that coming.
  4. Don't be silly. I can't see that happening. Well, not yet anyway. There's plenty mileage left in Harry yet and I reckon he'll be back in charge for the next game against Aston Villa on November 21st. Still this could make things go tits up for him if he's found guilty - Harry's up before the beak next year.
  5. Isn't she lovely, isn't she wonderful.
  6. OK fact fans. Did you know that Stevie Wonder wrote Superstition for Jeff Beck? He did. Oh yes pop pickers he did indeed but when Tamla Motown boss Berry Gordy heard what he'd recorded he told Stevie (I'm on first name terms dontcha know) that he wasn't to give the song away and it was going to be his next single. Jeff (I do so like being on first name terms with these music biz legends) recorded and released Superstition with his group Beck Bogart & Appice on the album of the same name and very good it is to but I don't like the bloke who sings on it. I just really dig the guitar maaaan.
  7. Is Christmas fair? Maybe for the haves but not for the have nots.
  8. One lives in hope.
  9. Sounds like fun. I wish they'd do that with a beautiful voluptuous young woman with bigs down the CPT. :)-D

  11. For a more political side of things start with Innervisions and in particular this track:-
  12. "Danny Kelly!" He's a Tottenham fan you know.
  13. I believe the story is that the man and his company who pushed for the England football team to wear poppies on their shirts has links to the far right and we can't be seen to be endorsing his company when he has links to fascists.

  15. Innervisions, Talking Book, Fulfullingness First Finale, Songs In The Key Of Life, My Cherie Amour and Uptight.
  16. "Explosions across our city?" I remember the blitz you know (seriously, I'm not that old). I do remember the IRA's campaign of bombing on our mainland though. I don't want to denigrate you for being a little wet behind the ears for you are obviously quite young but do take a look at recent history though it may not be so recent to you but we have been here before and suffered greatly for it.
  17. Very happy with the three points at Fulham today but I'm not crowing yet unlike some people. It's a long hard season Mr Bluerevolution. Enjoy your time in the sun.

  19. Alcohol. Is it time for a pint yet? Actually, there is no need to answer that. I've answered it myself and decided I need to go to the pub NOW!
  20. You'll find it hard to see three better goals this season than Fulham scored last night at Craven Cottage. Martin Jol has really got them playing good football. Very impressive. Should make Sunday's game with Spurs a bit tasty.
  21. I used to know Jimmy quite well years ago. He used to have a weekly column in the Sunday People where I worked for many years when I was a young buck working as a copytaker. Most Fridays I'd take his copy over the phone and we'd have a little natter afterwards, mostly about music. On occasion he would pop into the office to see everyone and would always stop by my office for a chat. He always had time for other people. For instance he gave up a lot of his free time to work at Stoke Mandeville Hospital as an unpaid porter. He would bring in freebies from his Jim'll Fix It programmes for my colleagues children and even got some of them in the audience for his shows. At the Christmas dinner and dances he would always come and sit with us (workers) instead of the directors or editors and would make sure we had enough to drink, even though he didn't touch alcohol himself. He was quick witted, charm personified and yes, OK a little eccentric but so what I thought he was a lovely man. A real salt of the earth. RIP Sir Jimmy Savile OBE
  22. Yep! Parker has been absolutely brilliant for us so far this season. A snip at ?5m. Bargain of the year so far.
  23. Great result for Newcastle tonight. A hat-trick for Ibrahim Ba and up to third place. Who'd a thunk it? I bet West Ham are gutted about letting him go for nothing.
  24. Absolutely right Otta. I was very impressed with Spurs yesterday. Our passing and movement was superb and Scott Parker was once again outstanding. We've not lost a premier league game since he joined us in the summer. Bargain of the season so far.
  25. That'll be a theremin Nette. Rather liking the Metamono. Reminds me of Neu! or other such Krautrock stuff.
